You would get Free Dining your whole stay if you are checking in on the 5th.

Thanks Skier_Pete.
Sounds like a pain in the butt! So I already have reservations, so what should I do now? Call and do the split stay or wait until they officially announce free dining, if indeed it does happen?
And just so I make sure I am reading this right..if I do a split stay I can still get my park tickets ahead of time but I will have to go back on the 13th to get new tickets with the dining added?
Thanks for all your help!
Next, when you are ready to go to the parks, bring your confirmation # for your package to guest services at whichever park you go to first (or DTD). They will be able to issue the tickets - this can be done up to 3 days before your package starts.

I've not heard this before - we have plane tickets to arrive on 11/12 and was bummed to think we couldn't go to the parks the first day, but based on this we can.
Can we get the tickets off the package at the hotel or does it have to be at a park/DTD?
I. Picking up Package Tickets Prior To Start Of Package
In cases where Walt Disney World Resort Guests would like to begin using their Package Tickets prior to the day of check-in (up to three days in advance), the Guests will be directed to visit any Theme Park or DTD Guest Relations location and request Early Ticket Pick-Up. (Note this cannot be done at a water park.)
It is only valid for people with packages at a Walt Disney World owned and operated Resort. You can be staying off-property at the time you pick up the tickets. Note that if you have a package which includes Dining, although you can pick up your tickets early you cannot get access to the Dining until you have actually checked in to your Resort.
There is a possibility that if your package and the stay prior to the package are at the same Resort that you will be able to get the tickets at the Resort and not have to go to a Park Guest Relations Office.
And the tickets issued will be valid for the entire stay; they will not receive valid tickets when they actually check-in to their resort. There is a strong possibility that the tickets you have received prior to check-in cannot be added to your KTTW on or after check-in.
I would suggest you copy down the following information if you are planning to upgrade promotional tickets. If the person in the window is hesitant to upgrade these promotional tickets, ask them go go into The Hub >> WDW >> Work >> Ticketing >> Processes & Business Rules >> Early Ticket Pickup For Resort Packages where they will see the procedure.

Thanks for your help & patience I really appreciate it
I know that people will think this is an odd question and won't understand why I am asking but...can you downgrade to the QS dining plan if you are staying in a moderate? We have 3 children, and while I would love to do table service dining every day, they will not. When we are at Disney I can hardly get them to stop for a QS meal. So I would prefer the QS option, is that possible?
Here's my question, and I hope I can explain it clearly...we're going from the 12th-19th. I already have a pkg. booked for those days. Even if I can rebook a room-only for the 12th and pick up my tickets and start using them on that day, I'll be one day short on park tickets, and we hit the parks every day.
Won't I have to buy a one-day ticket (times the 3 of us) in addition to new 7-day tickets (to equal the 8-day tickets we have now)? If so, won't I now be paying the increased ticket prices for the tickets, and also, 3 1-day tickets are now gonna cost me $86 each? In other words, I'll be saving something like $720 with FD for 6 nights, but I have to pay OOP for my first night's dinner (possibly $150) and my tickets are costing me over $270 more than the 8-day tickets I already have, right? It seems like a hassle to save all of around $300...
So, am I understanding correctly or have I miscalculated something?

Your number of park days on your ticket do not have to match the number of days on your package.

Exactly. Book an 8-day ticket with your package if that's your total park days. I have a 7-night package with 10-day tickets since my previous pin code started 2 days into our trip. I was prepared to skip the park those first days, but was so excited to hear you could pick up early!
Wow - this is news to me! That makes a difference, for sure...thanks to you and mom2rtk.

Hi all, 1st post here, I'm staying 11/14-11/19 at WL with MYW package with Dining. If I am understanding this correctly, Disneys new offer will help me out?
Yes, you don't have to get tix for the exact days of your trip. We always get less b/c we don't go to parks on our arrival/departure days. So if we stay for 8 days, we only get 6 day tix for the 6 full days we're there.
It's a bit of a pain. Do not make any changes just yet, wait until they actually announce the deal. (I wouldn't recommend anyone make any concrete plans based on a poster on a message board.)
When the offer DOES come out...then call Disney and make the change to your existing reservations. Explain what you want to do (you want to take advantage of the free dining, booking 11/13-11/19, and then a separate room only for 11/11-11/13.) They should be able to convert your existing ressie to this one, but it is POSSIBLE that you won't get your first choice of resorts, so you should have a alternate 1 or 2 that you wouldn't be dissapointed in. I recommend booking the room only at the same time, and then if there eventually is a room only discount, you can apply it to those first few days. Make sure to tell them you want the ressies linked. (They will NOT guarantee that you stay in the same room, however we've never had a problem with split stays.)
When you check in on 11/11, it will be on your room only. Again let them know it is a split stay, and you want to stay in the same room, they'll note it on your 2nd ressie.
Next, when you are ready to go to the parks, bring your confirmation # for your package to guest services at whichever park you go to first (or DTD). They will be able to issue the tickets - this can be done up to 3 days before your package starts.
On the day your package starts (in your case 11/13) you then need to re-register at the hotel. They will issue new KTTW cards which will have your room key and dining plan. I believe they will also be able to transfer what is left of your ticket onto them...but I am not 100% on that. However, this is the same ticket from your package. Your (Free) dining plan will start that day.
I plan on coming in on Nov 12 and I have already booked. If this deal is actually going to release, would I have to book a separate reservation for the 12th if the deal starts on the 13th? Or would I just pay the difference for the one day of dining that isn't covered in the discount dates. Thanks
