Anyway, so happy you got something to your liking.
Have a wonderul wedding!:goodvibes

ended up with a split stay:

nov 9-11 grand floridian rack rate

nov 11-15 yacht club club level

it's all good :cool2:

Sounds like a lovely way to spend your honeymoon. Congrats!!

Ok, officially joining in...booked with FD this morning!! Beyond excited! DS is already talking about eating with the characters and he JUST hit 40" so now he can go on the "big boy" rides! He's already saying BTMR will be his first ride.:goodvibes :goodvibes DD is going to explode when she gets to see the princesses up close and personal. The last time we went she was only 14 months so it didn't really register for her.

Hi..im new to all things Disney and hoping one of you experts can help me out, because I am lost!!!!
I booked a trip through AAA back in April for a Nov 2011 stay. When Free Dining came out today, and when I called my TA to have it added to my reservation, he said that I do not qualify because I am already getting a 15% discount through AAA and you cannot double dip.

Is this right? Just want to see if there are any other options for me.
Thank you!

You'll have to do the math as to which discount is best for you. Only one discount is allowed per reservation.

Have a great trip!:wizard:

Like kathie said, definitely do the calculations. Go on the website and price it out with the free dining. I'm going to guess you'll come out ahead of a 15% discount because I know I did off of a 30+% room only discount, at least by a little.

While your TA is right and you can't double dip, he could replace your AAA discount with the free dining discount.

It is correct that you can only use 1 discount at a time but doesn't mean the 15% from AAA is the better deal

Hello everyone!!Joining the thread here with you, just rebooked my trip this morning with FD,this will be our 1st trip on property Nov 1-11 at POP  can't wait! :hippie:

thank you for the help!
my AAA guy did not offer to replace the AAA with Free Dining...are they able to do that-I just feel taken advantage of because I do not know what I am really doing..lol

also, I went to go price online and my room choice (standard view at the BC) is not avail, only waterview....does that matter? it is just my assumption that If I already have a legit ressie, we could add the discount.

any more help...again, this is my first trip every booked....eeek!

Yes it matters. If the room isn't available online then the odds are you can't apply the discount, that you would have to pick the different room!

I am sending you a private message!

Does water view price out better? Do you mind the water view over standard? If you can save with the water view on this then I'd call and ask him to 1st try to replace AA with free dining on your existing reservation or 2nd try to alter your reservation to free dining under water view. If it helps, here's how the CM did my reservation this morning.

1. Started with my existing ASMovies preferred room package with 8-day tickets and reg dining
2. Verified availability of free dining on it as stands and that it was a savings. Since it was...
3. Replaced my pin code with free dining code
4. Checked for standard room availability (wasn't any at that time)
5. Changed my tickets to a 10-day per my request
6. Finalized all changes.

I actually called back and added a step
7. Checked again for standard room availability and it WAS there this time
8. Changed room type to standard room
9. Finalized changes with new lower total

All of this was done within the same reservation number and under my original deposit. I didn't have to cancel anything or do a new deposit.

The only thing I can see being an issue is if you have a room only reservation (if your deposit is the amount of one night's stay as opposed to the $200 package deposit). If this was the case, you'd have to book a new package, put down the $200 deposit and cancel the original room-only reservation.

no..the waterview is about $300 more than my package..
honestly, I was just hoping for the $400 it was going to cost me for the dining plan to magically "fall off" with this new FD pin code...I think i may have been too wishful.

i just dont know if I got a good deal or not, since this is my first trip..

Best advice is to price everything rack rate on the website or by looking at rack rate prices on mousesavers.com or the DIS. I always keep that in one column on my spreadsheet so that I can tell how various offers compare.

Also, remember that people will continue to cancel things especially over the next week as the finalize plans under free dining. Keep checking for your room type to open up. Also check in two weeks as people who didn't pay the deposit right away let their reservations just fall away. You might luck into something.

Look...if your TA is worth anything - he/she should be giving you a price breakdown of the difference between the two. Call them back and ask them to quote you the difference between the FD deal and your current room only. While a DEEP room discount (35-40%) might be a better deal than free dining, I can almost tell you that 15 % won't be. Even at $400 a night - 15 % is a $60 a day savings. Free Dining would be $90 a day for two adults in the room. So unless you are booked solo, or just you and one child, the FD deal should be better.

Not to look a Free Dining Code gift horse in the mouth, but the ROOM discount is what we're hoping for!!!
:thumbsup2

Us too! Works out much better for our family since we usually stay CL at a deluxe resort. We much prefer the discounted room. Not to mention, we have APs, so we don't need to buy park tickets. ;)

Were AP discounts not available for your dates yesterday? Are GP discount availabilities usually different than AP discounts? (Sorry, it's been awhile since I had an AP, but may do so the next time around.)

They were available during our week at the Poly, but not for CL. Only for a standard room. We really love having CL with the kiddies. :) The CM told me that there was very few CL discounted rooms during the week we want. So, I have to play around with it more. The GP discount is usually 35% for deluxe resorts, if I'm not mistaken. The AP discount for deluxe rooms is 40%. I don't know if they'll open more CL rooms during the week we want with the GP discount. That's what I'm trying to figure out. :confused3
