Nov. 2011

Hoping for FD in November..... It's the only way I can even possibly think about approaching my husband about a mother & son trip! Please, please, please!!!

We will be arriving GF CL on November 13th leaving the 19th for first time stay. I have read many people talk about pin codes and have tried all the "tricks" mentioned. Nothing yet.:sad1: How likely is it that there will be free dining for that week? I know it is just a guess right now but others here seem like old pros.

Are pins for FD sometimes sent or just room disc? Any ideas to help ease my Disney obsessed mind?
Thanks!

So, there has been Free Dining available for the last 3 years for the 4th quarter (Oct-Dec) select dates. The first year it was for Disney Visa card holders only - the only time I've ever seen that happen. The last two years there were directed PINs but it was also open to the general public eventually. Your dates would fall within the dates it was available last year (I don't know about the year before.)

4th quarter free dining came out July 6th last year. Room only discounts came out August 16th. Being at the GF, you might be better off with a room only discount anyways.

I have had room PIN codes attached to my account the last 3 years for our annual November visits.. but so far nothing this year :(

Just called and asked them why is that, and she said that there is a criteria that the marketing dept looks for when assigning PINS, but she has no idea what it is.

Thanks Skier Pete!!

I will have to just sit back and wait for the FD. :rolleyes1 Regarding the room discount option, we actually won this trip and our rooms are FREE! :rotfl: Hopefully that will not disqualify us from FD. It is amazing how much a "free" trip ends up costing anyway. Lost time at work, boarding pets, food etc. I'm not complaining!!! Just the FD would be wonderful.

Thanks again

I'm not sure how Free Dining would help you since to qualify you have to purchase a package that includes your room and tickets. :confused3 Sorry, maybe I'm reading something wrong.:flower3:

I know that FD may be a long shot for us but a girl can hope! :teeth:
Our reservation includes rooms and park tickets so maybe it will still work. Whatever the outcome on FD... I am sooooo thrilled to be going to Disney! :cloud9: I will be in Tinkerbell Heaven even if on bread and water for the week!!!!

Just curious since you said you won the trip and your rooms are free, are you paying for additional rooms to get the Free Dining, if offered? You have to pack rack rate (aka full price) for the rooms and tickets to receive Free Dining. I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding (or I'm getting old haha :rolleyes1).

I agree - you won't be able to use free dining either way. However, the fact that you have FREE rooms at the Grand Floridian seems to be a heck of a reward in itself, so enjoy your trip!

Has anyone gotten a pin for the week after Thanksgiving?

I had one (% off rooms) that expired in March.....didn't use it because I thought we were going the week of T-giving.....D'oh! So, I was just on Mousesavers reading the historic release dates for discounts, looks like the past 2 years general public FD was offered in July for November/Dec stays....so there is still hope!! And if general public codes come out in July, maybe we will start seeing some PINs in late May or June....I HOPE SO!!!! I can't go this year without a deal. :sad2:

Yes, i got a 40% code off deluxe and 35% off mod & value.(expired at end of Feb) Dates were good throughout most of this year with a few exceptions. We are going Sunday after TG for a week-and it's only b/c we got that code. We staying at OKW.

Does anyone happen to remember what the Jersey week blackout dates have been in the past?

Hi I am new to the DIS board and this is our families first trip to Disney and a dream cruise. We are planning to be down on the 11th of November. What is a PIN code? how do I get one? does disney ever offer discounted room and free dining?

thanks in advance

Amy

:welcome: this is a great place to learn and gather info!!! A PIN is sometimes attached to your name in the data base--I have had friends call the reservation (ressie) line and asked and sure enough..they have one! Or you will receive a post card type thing in the mail and it will have a PIN listed...it's a code # that is available for certain dates that your receive a discount with...for example, it may say you are eligible for 40% off a deluxe room Sept 10- Nov 1, and you must book by June 5. Any time you receive one, it's only available to you-it can't be shared. I have heard that if you order a Disney planning DVD it betters your chance to receive one---not sure if it's true. And yes, they offer Free dining and room discounts periodically... hope this helps!

Only if you book two separate vacations. This happened to us last year but it actually worked out pretty good for us. We booked the first night -room only at the Caribbean Resort on a AAA discount - purchased tickets to MVMCP for that first night (we were going to attend one of their parties anyway), and then stayed the next 6 nights at the same hotel, same room. We did have to go up to the office early the next day to make sure we didn't have to change rooms and to pick up the second set of room/ticket/free dining cards.

we will be going to coronado springs Nov 17-21...let's hope there is some sort of code.

Looking into a trip with my brother and his family from 10/29/11-11/5/11. Any hope for FD for those dates?
