Is it worth noting a food allergy on your ADRs or just wait until you get to the restaurant and then mention it?

It's not a huge allergy like to peanuts or anything like that, but I am allergic to food dye (especially reds or any color combo made with red). I'm not even sure if Disney would use food dyes or not, but is it worth mentioning or something that I wouldn't have to worry about?

I know a lot of times I find the most food dyes in sweet treats (red velvet cake, frostings, candies etc.) and those types of things I'd be able to spot and stay away from. I guess I'm just wondering if there would be anything out of the ordinary Disney uses dyes for in normal dining that I might not be aware of.

We have some food allergies in our party and I always mention it when making the ADR. I figure it gives the restaurant a heads up and if there are any conflicts it gives them time to possibly have an alternative on hand. I have found Disney to be extremely responsive to allergies both large and small :goodvibes

My son is allergic to milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts and sesame. I usually mention it during the reservation BUT they always send out the chef...regardless of whether it is mentioned ahead of time or not. An allergy that is not one of the top eight (milk, eggs, soy, etc.) are noted in the reservations as 'other' so the chef will need to speak with you anyhow. SOOOO it is really your preference.

I always note the allergy on my ADR's
if it is a complicated allergy they may have to prepare special foods and need to know in advance.

jump over to the DISabilities forum and check out either Sues or Cheshire Figments links and they have info about dining with special needs.

There is a new Special Diet team to assist you at WDW and youc an contact them in advance for info and get a list of foods that MAY* be ok for you to eat at all the parks. Having this info in advance this can help you avoid the "NOTEBOOK" at counter services that takes a while to look through.
With advance info you can say to the MGR/Chef I want to order this and not spend 20 minutes looking through the NOTEBOOK:)

* foods change and recipes are changed at times so you always need to check.

WDW is awesome with allergies

I think the CM asked when I made ADRs, but every meal we checked in for we were asked about allergies. I saw a CM showing a guest which buffet foods had nuts included in the recipes one day...not just telling, but showing!!!
