if you aren't feeling the invitations do not go with them. I originally bought print your own invitations also and then sold them because I wasn't feeling them. you're no being snobby, they are just not for you. :goodvibes

Okay... my sister and I were going over some ceremony music last night. We're looking into having a mix of classical and not. We were discussing how to incorporate some personal "classics" sort of like musical inside jokes that would sound pretty, but have added meaning to us.

When Chris and I first met, we were in a "media" class, and our for our final project, we had to create an interactive website game. At the time, I worked at a Children's Museum (and I'm just a huge geek), so I created a Sesame Street trivia website. And I incorporated a bunch of Sesame Street Music into it. When Chris went away for collage, I made him a "Joanna" CD - and included my favorite Sesame Street song - "I don't want to live on the moon"

Well my sister and I were getting silly and joking that I should use this song in the wedding. Then she found a piano version of the song here and you know what - It's really pretty! We were thinking it might be a nice song for me to walk down the aisle to. I'm guessing most people won't know what the song is....

What do you think? Hokey? Weird? Cute? I need opinions!

I completely forgot about that song. Ernie is definitely my favorite Sesame Street character - so I think this would be a great song to walk down the aisle. It's really beautiful on the piano.

Thanks. I just don't know what I'm feeling about the stupid invitations. It's so frustrating. :scared1:

:goodvibes Ernie does rock doesn't he....

We also concideder "La La La La Lemons" and "The Fraggle Rock Theme" along with "MMMMBOP" and "The Final Countdown" , so when you consider the other options, an Ernie song is pretty tame :rotfl:

Its very pretty on the piano and would be great to use.... it holds special meaning for you too!

Thanks! I think knowing that it's Sesame Street is what seems silly to me. If I just heard it on the piano, I wouldn't give it another thought.

Okay, so I've been crazy at work lately, plus I've been sick, so I haven't been around much.

We leave for our planning session in about a month, and then off to my grandma's birthday/family reunion cruise - on which my aunt is throwing me my first shower.

Does anyone else have this *problem* where everyone wants to throw you a shower. I seriously have 4 planned as of now, and have said "no" to 2 people. It's getting out of hand! (I know... that's a stupid problem to have... but it's just weird)

So here's the plan for the P.S.

Wednesday - Arrival - Check in at SSR and 8:30 dinner reservations at Turf Club with my parents. DSis and her BF arrive later.

Thursday - Breakfast 7:10 at GF Cafe, and PS at 9am; (We don't get a menu tasting - BOO) 2:00 Hair/Makeup trial; 8:00 Dinner Raglan Road

Friday - Check-out and go to Port Canaveral. Board ship.

Saturday - Grandma's Birthday Celebration & Nassau

Sunday - CocoCay & Shower

Monday - Home

I'm bummed that we don't get any time in the parks, but oh well. Whatcha going to do?

I think I'm pretty well set for the P.S. I have my binder, and pictures and paint chips, and stuff. But I still have NO idea what to do with my hair.

I have shoulder length, thin, scraggly, hair. I look best with it down, but when it's down, it tends to separate dramatically into clumps:

Which is not attractive as you can see.

But my face is so pudgy, that I look bad with it all up.

I'm so undecided. I think I'd be okay with an updo if I had full hair, but it's so limp and thin, that it just looks pathetic. I didn't want to wear a veil... but we bought one anyway, because I was bamboozled in my sticker-shock daze. And. it was more expensive than my dress, so I feel like I should wear it.

I bought this clip at TJ MAXX, and I think I might use it...

I wish I had normal hair!

In other sort-of-not-really-wedding-related news... I'm going out to PA to visit my sister next weekend. :cool1::cool1: I'm excited, I haven't seen her since December! We're hoping to work on the invitation debacle and come up with a workable solution for everyone.

WOO- HOO for PS trip.... sounds like a great time even with no park time. good luck with your invitations!:goodvibes

woohoo for Planning Session!

Are you going on the Monarch of the Seas? I sailed in January on the Monarch. I just had to return a book to the library about the history of the cruise industry that I haven't finished reading yet. It's a good book all about Royal Caribbean and Carnival and Norwegian. Good stuff. Makes me want to go on another cruise. I think Jeff and I want to see if we can go on the Mediterranean cruise with Disney next summer as a belated honeymoon :lovestruc

I hope you get some hair inspiration at your trial. I'm sure you'll figure something out :thumbsup2

Yes, we're on the Monarch. I haven't been on the Monarch since its been sailing out of FL. I'm sort of excited, because I heard they did a referb when they took her out of LA. How was your trip in January?

Ohh, I think I've heard of that book. I'm reading "Behind the Crown and Anchor" right now all about Royal Caribbean. It's really interesting.

I have a serious cruise addiction. (The Monarch will be #4 for 2009) We're looking at a Med Cruise for a belated honeymoon as well - though we'll probably stick to Royal, since I'm a diamond member, and can get discounts... But I'd LOVE to do Disney.. We'll see.

I'm trying not to stress too much about my hair - yet... I'm sure that we'll come up with something.

Thanks! I'll post what - if anything - we come up with.

I'm getting ready for a break from work... don't they know I have a wedding to plan? :rotfl:

Keep in mind dear, this is YOUR wedding! Never forget that! It must be all of us Disbrides' mantras! :rotfl:

Personally, I think it would be worth the effort to make your own if you will be happier with them. I'm considering making my own too, as I feel the same way you do about the invitation. So if you're overthinking it, then I am too! ;)

Hooray for your PS trip coming up! Oh, and last but not least - have you considered having your hair half up half down? Or what about getting extensions? My hair is not the most agreeable either. I've got a fair amount but it's all very fine textured and it lacks the volume most girls are fortunate enough to have. So I'm going to get either extensions or have my hairstylist put clip in extensions to help give my poor hair a boost. Just an idea!

Oh man, I didn't realize how long it's been since I've been over here!!! I hear ya on not liking your hair (I mean I don't like my hair either, not that I don't like yours) My hair is super thick and frizzes like crazy! I think I"m going to have to wear it up so it doesn't go frizzy!!!

Yay for going on a cruise while you're down here! I haven't been on the Monarch yet, I did the Sovereign a few times before they sold it. You should try a Disney cruise. Or even Princess!!!

I keep telling myself it's "my wedding" but sometimes, I'm just like "is this item really worth the energy fighting this?" Expecially invitations, because they just end up as garbage anyway.... But my fabulous sister came up with a solution to the invitation drama, that melds the invite I like and the one my mom likes nicely, so I'm hoping that the invitation debate is ovah!

I'm getting excited - less than 2 weeks till the PS!

I've done hair extensions before, and I was concidering them, but I'm not sure I want to spend the $ on them if I can just use my real hair. You know what I mean? And if I were to do it, I'd probally get them sewn in instead of clips, becuase those always shift on my head. Ugh.... Why is it so tough being a girl! :headache:

:rotfl: See... I'd love super thick frizzy hair. I think we all just want what we don't have hair wise!

I'm doubly excited about the cruise, (and sorry but I'm totally praying you have crappy weather this weekend) because if the shuttle doesn't launch this weekend, it will launch on the 27th - the day we're back!!

I would love to do a Disney or Princess cruise! The problem is Royal Caribbean and Celebrity keep sending me awesome deals becuase of my "diamond" staus... They keep reeling me back in every time I concider someone else :rotfl:

We're definately doing a cruise for our "honeymoon" which will actually be more like our first anniversary trip... so we'll see what happens :cutie:

So, I'm kind of in the wedding planning doldrums.... I feel like there's not a lot to do... So I just have a few mini-updates

I have my binder all set for the PS. And my posse will be in tow.

I'm getting worried, becuase I haven't heard back about my hair and makeup trial. So I hope I get to have one...

One of my friends who is much craftier than I offered to help me make a crystal bouquet. I found some instructions online, and it looks pretty straight forward. So we'll see how that goes. We have a plan to get together a few weekends in August to make it. If it doesn't work, then I'll use a flower bouquet. So I plan on discussing a flower bouquet at my PS as a precaution.

We met with our priest yesterday, and decided that we were going to do the official church wedding on Monday, January 18. We'll just have our wittnesses there, and treat it like a "paperwork" thing. Then the actual ceremony in Disney on the 23rd.

I do feel like I should be doing more. But I just don't know what!

Ohh... and we received our first gifts from my aunts for the upcoming shower. It feels way official now! :yay:

I realized I never replied to you on how I liked the Monarch. We had a good time. Half the girls I was with had never cruised before and they had a blast. I however kept constantly comparing it to Disney and it sooo didn't meet my standards! Dinner was horrible, every night. Our servers couldn't care less about us it seamed. The food was eh, and I just couldn't get over the fact that I had to pay to have a soda if I wanted it.
However our stateroom host was really awesome and the rooms were better than I remember the Sovereign being. One of our rooms showers went crazy though which was not cool.
Really I just need to get on one of RCCL's big ships because the two little ones have not lived up to my Disney standards at all.

Oh and with the way the weather is here now, I really don't think they are launching tomorrow, so chances are good it is scrubbed :thumbsup2

Thanks for the review. The bigger ships are much nicer, we were on the Freedom last summer, and it's great, but then again I haven't ever tried Disney. The little ships are really lacking in everything in my opinion.

Paying for soda is kind of annoying, but then again I usually just drink alcohol on vacation anyway :rotfl:

I can't wait to try a Disney cruise...

Sorry to wish bad weather on you.... but I'm so happy that it's crappy there :rotfl2:

I hear you about the planning doldrums... I feel like I should be doing more then I am (which is pretty close to nothing lol)

Oh, well so close to your PS, what are your dates again?

Yay for the PS!!!

Seriously. Thank you. I feel like I'm the only one. But I'm doing like nothing, but I can't think of what to do...

Our PS is the 23rd. We're coming in the 22nd, and heading to the Monarch on the 24th.

So I've been thinking about favors....

I'm not a big fan of favors in general, but know that with our guest list, I need to have them. So I've been in search of a favor that really represents "us"

We're both big chocolate fans, and we used to live next door to a chocolate shop, so this seemed like a natural choice.

So I came up with this idea of a box with 5 chocolates: 1 that represents my family, 1 that represents Chris's family, 1 that represents me, 1 that represents him, and one that represents both of us.

My Family: a tradition in my family is Red Velvet Cake, my grandma's is legendary. and there's a bakery by my work that makes red cake bites - basically truffle sized bites of cake dipped in chocolate - Awesome

DF's Family: DF's grandpa always makes Black Forrest cake at every holiday, so the same bakery makes a similar cake bite with Black Forrest.

Me: My parents now live in a resort town called Kolher, and they have their own chocolate company, and I love traveling to the Caribbean like 2-5 times year, so this will be a Kohler chocolate with passion fruit filling.

Chris: Chris is an adventurous eater, and a few years ago discovered Voges chocolates, and they make exoctic truffles with things like wasabi, olives, bacon, and more, so we'd do something like that.

Us: This would be one of our favorites from the chocolate shop we used to live by, a mango chipolte truffle.

So these would be together in a box, with little explanations of each chocolate, any why they're important to us.

Now I have 3 concerns: 1) Is this going to be too much of a PITA? Too complicated to put together at the last minute. 2) is it crazy to travel with so much fussy chocolate? Since it will be freezing here (WI in January = COLD) and warmer in FL, the temperature change + the pressure change on the plane could be bad. 3) We love these kind of haut chocolates... will they be wasted on our less-adventurous guests? What would you do if you received these as a favor? Try or toss?
