not_joanna_eggs' PJ - 1/24/2010 WP/CG: TR: MK/Epcot Photo shoot link posted

Sorry I've been MIA. My laptop is on it's final leg, so I'm shopping around and I have to use my work laptop at home, which has weird security on it, so I can't resize things in photobucket. Annoying. I'm hopefully going to get a new computer soon (tax refund - where are you??)

So I'm a little less than 8 months out and I feel like I have nothing to do. Is this normal? What should I be doing? I've done all the stuff on my checklists....

Most people in my family do a video slide show during the reception of the bride and groom growing up and then together. It's pretty common around here, but I know these things can be regional, so I just wanted to put a back story to the post.

So, my mom and I were discussing if we should do one, and I thought I read someone's (Lindsey22?? Can't remember) PJ that they were doing this and going to show it on the bus. I thought this was a good idea, and my mom and I decided our summer project would be compiling these photos in iphoto and making a slideshow/dvd.

Well our local public TV station had their annual tv auction (I don't know if other stations do this but basically it's like a silent auction, but on TV, they show a table of 8-10 items, and then you have 15 minutes to bid on that table by phone. It goes for a little over a week, and all proceeds support public television.) And over the years we've gotten some great items/deals from this auction. So last night, I was at my parent's house and on of the items was a video biography where the company interviews you, scans your pictures and complies them into a 20-30 minute DVD. At the 3 minute warning, this $1,500 item was going for $120, so my mom told me to bid on it, because it would save us tons of time. (and probally a few fights as well)

So, we won, and got an awsome deal on this service. But now I'm thinking because we're acutally spending money on this, and it (hopefully) will look really nice, that I might want to play it during the reception.

However, I can't envision how to do this in the Napa Room... So maybe I should keep it on the bus? But will people watch it? Is it a waste then? I'm torn and having buyer's remorse (at least the $ went to a good cause) I'm also worried that with a small group, it'll seem weird.

So basically I'm the most indecicive person on the planet.

Just catching up- congrats on winning. this is JMO but I think a video would be cool to have,I have thought about one too! If nothing else it will be a keepsake because photographs can come up missing with time. good luck!:goodvibes

Thanks!

Thanks for reading!! I'm a total bargin hunter and love sharing my deals!

Thanks for reading! I seriously can't believe my deal either. I saw a similar dress - same designer - used, on ebay for $790! I just can't believe it! I'm getting married on the 24th - so 3 days after you, but we're coming in on the 20th - so we'll be there at the same time as you! :yay::yay: hmmm... I might have to clear my plans to stalk your wedding:rotfl: Isn't it exciting that it's getting closer?

We get down there on the 16th and leaving on the 30th. I will also have to stock your wedding on the 24th :yay: Have you gotten your contract to sign yet?

haha if you are the most indecisive, then I must be the 2nd because I am up there! lol! Oh and what checklist are you following???? I am 2 weeks after you and have no checklist to speak of, you've got me nervous girl! I thought you and I were subscribing to the "we'll do it eventually" school of thought with this wedding stuff, now you spring a checklist on me!! What is that about!!! You need to prepare a girl for news like that:rotfl2:

Seriously, that is awesome about the video stuff, my mom wants a slideshow too (only problem is she wants it on the beach at the rehearsal which doesn't seem to be an option... oh well). Gotta love naked baby pictures on the wedding day lol!

Thanks! I was sort of looking forward to doing the slideshow myself, but this will be way easier. I never thought of beyond the wedding (there's life after the wedding??? - no one told me :confused3 :rotfl:) That's a great idea! :goodvibes

Yes, we got our contract already. Since we're using the CG we were able to sign at a year.

Our whole trip will overlap with yours! We'll have to meet up! How fun :yay:

Do you have a PJ? What locations are you using (I promise I won't crash )

I'd be happy to share my top spot with you Sam! We're co-indecisivees!

To be fair, my check list goes...
think about doing some wedding stuff (check)
open bottle of wine (check)
pour glass of wine (check)
drink glass of wine (check)
go on dis (check)
refill glass of wine (check)
remember I forgot to do wedding stuff (check)
refill glass of wine (check)
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

In all seriousness, I'm following the checklist from Carrie's book just to make sure I don't forget something totally obvious, like to buy shoes or something, cuz I'd so do that - spend 4 hrs obsessing about what shade of purple to use, and then forget that I need shoes or underware or something.

Yeah, we ran into a simmilar problem we wanted to do it at the rehersal too, but we're using the Big River Brewing company, and there's not really a private room, we're just off to the side by the bar, so that would be awkward. My worry is that I believe the wall in the Napa Room that would be most convienent to show it on, is curved... however, my guests might be drunk by that point, so they'd see the curve anyway. :rotfl2:

(wow... this post really made me sound like a lush!)

lolololol!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Ok I feel better now, because that is very similar to my list (and by similar I mean identical :lmao:) So I guess we are both a couple of lush Disney brides... darn Lapu Lapu's corrupting us!

But I forgot about carrie's miracle checklist, i am going to print it out again now so I don;t forget (or get distracted by the dis, which is more likely)

And yea, they won't even notice the curve by then:rotfl2:, mine sure wouldn't!

Your Engagement Pics are gorgeous and what a fantastic bargain with the dress... :thumbsup2 Its all looking great!

Woo. I finally broke down and bought a new computer (mine was almost 10 years old and basically 1/2 of the websites I needed to use didn't work) - so now I am boldly sailing down both lanes of the information superhighway....

Which means, I think (knock on wood) I've finally ($1,400 later) won my battle with photobucket!!!

So here come some more e-picts!

I'll leave it at that, but as I've said before I was expecting to like 3 or 4 of these pictures, and now I'm having a hard time deciding which are my favorites :banana:

I agree...they are all so cute! Good luck choosing :goodvibes
PS. Welcome to the fast lane...lol

Hay I love the new pictures! congrats on the new computer too! I hope my pics from Randy turn out half as nice as the ones you have posted....:goodvibes

Thanks! I was really pleased. I think in the 8 years of dating, DF and I have like a total of 4 nice pictures of us, so this was amazing. Randy is amazing!

Thanks Tammy! I feel like I've leaped into the '00's with my computer :rotfl: The guy at the apple store actually laughed at me when I told him what computer I had.

I'm sure your pictures will be great! Randy is fantastic. Are you getting excited about your site visit? It's coming up fast!

I love your E-Pics!! You both look so happy!! :lovestruc

I really feel like I'm slacking - like I should be doing something, but I can't figure out what it is.

So when we were in Disney in March, I found this Swarovski set at Arribas Brothers that I loved. But the necklace was $350 and the tiara was $575... so I just moved along, and found the necklace that I posted earlier. Then a couple weeks ago, I was visiting my parents and went to the TJ Maxx by them, and found the EXACT necklace for $60!

I'm not sure if it'll go with the dress, or if I'll have Monica wear it instead, or if I'll wear it for the Welcome Dinner, but I couldn't pass it up....

Photo4.jpg

it's really not a good picture, but I couldn't find it online... it's got white and clear marquis crystals and pearls in a flower-y, leaf-y pattern.

Now if I could find the tiara... I'd be happy - cuz that's the piece I really wanted.

So in lieu of a miracle, i've been looking for a headpiece that will match the necklace and earrings I have. So far, I found this one:

I think it'll go well with the dress and everything, and won't detract from the veil.

From the same company, I also found this bouquet....

1002.jpg

I don't like silk flowers, so I was going to go with real, but I was worried that they'd make me allergy-y. So i was thinking this might be a fun alternative.
Or will it be too "bare" against the dress? And will it look weird if everyone else has flowers? Is it trying too hard to be funky? What do you think?

yay for the Maxx!!!! Great find! The bouquet looks nice too, I would add a little something to it though just to fill it out, maybe get 2 and combine them?? I love that it is all sparkly and shiny though, I think it will look so elegent:goodvibes

and

Yay for a new comp with pretty E-Pics on it!!!! Love them all, but the one on the bridge is amazing! You guys look perfect!

Thanks! Randy is amazing, cuz usually we look like this:

Nice e-pics! And you gotta love TJMAXX! That's an awesome deal!

And I like the crystal bouquet- very unique.

Thanks! I couldn't believe the deal on the necklace. I thought it would be a knock-off, but the little swan in stamped in there. I was pretty impressed.

hmm.... 2 might work. I wish it came in colors. I was worried it would sort of just blend into the dress and look weird. Not the fun shinyness it's supposed to be. But if it was purple or green or something, that would be perfect.

I'm so excited to have a computer that works. It's really helps with #6 on my checklist. :rotfl:

Thanks - I'm so excited for the wedding now, because I haven't had so many pictures of me I actually liked since I was like 6!!

Okay, so I know I have a lot of time before I need to send invitations, but I'm obsessing about them. :scared1:

So when we first got engaged, my mom and I found these print-your-own invitations at JoAnn that she really liked.

Photo11.jpg

That picture isn't the best, but it's basically a cute white velum "pocket" with sparkles and a larger plain white invitation.

They're okay, and at first I didn't really care about the invitations, so I really couldn't have cared less.

But then I got to thinking... I'm thinking that I want something nicer.

So yesterday, I stopped at this paper store that one of my co-workers recommended, and got a bunch of stuff of clearance. When I came home I started mocking up an invitation.

Photo14.jpg

Again, not the best picture, but it's a gold pocket envelope with a dark and light purple invitation with purple swirl vellum over it and 3 "cards" for information.

Granted I didn't measure or use a paper cutter or anything accurate, so it'll take a lot longer for real, but I like this much better.

What's the problem? My mom has dug in her heals about the first ones. Now I know it's my wedding, but my problem is she knows how to get her way with me via logic. Why would I want to spend all that time, money and effort on something that is basically garbage? In a year, people will remember a bunch of aspects of the wedding - the invitations won't be one of them.

However, I look at it as the "window" into the wedding, and all the weddings I've been to with cheap/cheezy looking invitations, have been cheap and cheezy.

Maybe I'm being a snot. Am I over thinking this? Is it worth making your own invitations? Are they just going to look homemade and cheezy anyway? What would you do?

Why am I obsessing about this? UGH

nope, your not a snot!!!! I hear you about the invites and I say if you want the purple ones (which rock!) then go for it! If its your day and you want purple invites then... to quote nike (the shoe, not the god)... just do it!

sounds like this one calls for one of my favorite lines... "Mom, this is my wedding and I want things my way. You got to have things your way for your wedding" and smile :cutie:

Thanks. My problem is that she keeps talking logic to me. She never tells me I can't do something, she makes carefully planned logical arguments that make me rethink what I want.

She informed me that my purple invitations look like marketing materials. And then proceeded to talk me out of them, so I'm back at square one.

GRRR....

Oh well, I have plenty of time.
