airtran trying to take over midwest!!!

flying out of Milwaukee this is a great airline

great times, non stop and not bad rates

just for fun I checked airtran most of there flights had a stop over and the one non stop the times were not that good

I understand that they said they add flight so possibly more nonstop
but then alot of companies say anything and then after taking over oh yes there are changes but usually not the ones they were talking about.

oh well I guess we just need to wait and see

I don't know midwest and I've only flown with airtran once.

However, you could try thinking optimistically....

If Airtran takes over midwest then they would get all of the great times and routes that Midwest has now. (Chances are they would even be mostly the same people.)

I agree, i like that with Midwest i can pick my seats out right away, and know were I'm sitting! Plus Midwest does not change their flight times constantly like Airtran. I just got my husband to fly as he hates flying. He really likes Midwest, i doubt i can get him on anything else. :confused3
And lets not forget the cookies!

I have not heard about this...my head is in the sand, well actually spending waayy too much time at work...please elaborate as I love midwest and my miles. One of the few airlines that allows you to pay for some of your flight without burning a ton of miles.

Dear Joe:

Our Board of Directors met today and had an extensive discussion of your
expression of interest in a transaction with our Company. As you know, we
have taken your letter very seriously, and since October 20, 2006 the
Board and the Board Affairs and Governance Committee have spent
considerable time and effort in a process with their advisors to
understand and evaluate your expression of interest.

The Board completed this process today. While the Board has a great deal
of respect for AirTran and for your leadership, it has concluded that it
would not be in the best interests of the Company, our shareholders and
other stakeholders, including customers, employees and the communities we
serve, to pursue a transaction with AirTran under the current
circumstances. The Board feels that the Company's strategic plan and
remaining independent hold the best promise for continued growth and
increased shareholder value going forward.

Thank you very much for your interest in our Company and your efforts in
submitting your letter.

Best regards for a good holiday season.

Very truly yours,
Timothy E. Hoeksema

Heck its worth the extra miles for us to get to Milwuakee to get there.

Amen! I always fly Midwest out of Milwaukee if possible, no matter where I'm going. Northwest is second choice. AirTran is near the bottom. I hate paying more to have my seat assigned in advance and I don't like their flights through Atlanta. I like Midwest's direct flights, especially Signature Service.

AirTran submitted a new and higher offer just lastweek, so this is still in play.

aww man, HEY can i get a quikie question answered from my new wisconsin buddies? Has anyone ever flew midwest express to calaforinas LAX? Im worried its gonna be like a puddle jumper plane, Im a panicky person.

Where are you flying out of? I fly out of Appleton and sometimes the peddle jumper flight is between appleton and Milwuakee. Not across the US. Thank goodness it is a short flight to Milwaukee. I hate it when I get booked on this aircraft - one seat on each side of the plane and the co pilot is the steward! But they get me there and great service. Milwaukee is MUCH better. I dont always get booked on that flight... no worries flying to lax

Milwuakee. sorry about spelling. not feeling good. we could have gone from appleton but by driving the extra time we will be on a non stop flight. we live 4 hours out of Milwuakee.

This is by far the best airline out there!!!! We have taken non-stops from KC to Boston and Orlando, our next trip is LA. My DH HATES LAX but is willing to use it because it's Midwest taking us. They are not lying whey they say they are the "Best Care in the Air".

I hope for certain that Air Tran does not take them over because I do not want to go back to being squished in a seat with uncaring cabin stewards. MIDWEST ROCKS!

I completely agree. I never fly any other airlines than Midwest. My husband is actually really big on driving and I finally have him convinced that flying with Midwest is so much better. If AirTran buys them out, I believe that after this August we will no longer being flying anywhere. I just wish that they would leave a great airline alone instead of trying to run with its good name and ruining it.
