Not to rain on everyone's 40% off parade... but....

I think this is a bit different that the prior "glitches" (I still don't think this is a glitch) in that Disney has set aside a certain number of rooms at each resort that are eligible for the 40% off - when they are gone they are gone. Disney is not out any money by people using the code whether they had a PIN or not, whether they needed a PIN or not. If 10 rooms are set aside at the Poly for the 40% off and they are booked then they will not book any additional rooms at the special rate.

Correct me if I'm wrong - but in the past when reservations were reverted back to RAC it was due to a miscalculation of either taxes or not adding the room and ticket prices together correctly. In this case there is a set number of rooms being offered at the discount - when they are gone, they are gone. Disney knew when they put this promo out there how much they stood to "lose" if all rooms were booked with the promo - that's all part of the number crunching that goes on at corporate. It had to have made financial sense for them to do it or they would have never done the promo to begin with.

I know CM's are sometimes missinformed but I just find it so hard to believe that so many of us asked - flat out - if we needed a PIN with our code and were told no in error. I know I personally asked twice. Now, my name was checked in their system before I was told that I was eligible so maybe it was flagged at that point.

Just my two cents - we'll see what happens...no worries - either way I'm going to WDW! ;)

Maybe I read this wrong but one of you fine people mentioned something of a WWOD code...is that a "legal" code or am I just confused and hopeful of a deal?:confused3

I don't know who's right or who's wrong - All I know is that Disney dropped the ball somewhere on this one, have known they did for at least a week, and still haven't fixed the problem yet.

Shame on them.

As magical as Disney World is, it's a business - and as such, they will do whatever is in their best interests financially.. Bad PR desn't phase them in the least - because they know that people will return over and over again (regardless of all of their complaints about various situations) and if it's not "repeat" customers, they'll always have new customers to take their place..

I wouldn't be surprised if they review all of these reservations and make the necessary corrections.. Their focus is on finances - not providing "deals" to people who weren't eligible to begin with.. They aren't nearly as attached to us as we are to them...;)

I don't buy this for one minute.........I think someone is exaggerating. To go back and "revoke" deals that already have down payments would be a ridiculous stretch.......I'm not flaming the messenger - just the message!;)

Oh they can .. just blame it on a glitch like some other rates that occured recently, and it took them over four to six weeks just to sort out those rates, and that was much less people than those who booked this.

They aren't nearly as attached to us as we are to them...;)

Isn't that the truth!!!!!! They get us hooked and we'll do about anything to go back. Just look at the number of people who are ADDICTED to this board!!!!!! But I have to admit that I am truly addicted to both.:grouphug: :grouphug:

They aren't nearly as attached to us as we are to them...;)

That really sums it all up.

If it's really true that this is a pin only code, it's sad that people who really had pins may not find availability at the resorts they want due to people booking codes they were not entitled to.

my reservation on WDW site now says NULL USD? Starting to wonder, any help would be appreciated.

I was able to book yesterday with out a pin#. I even told the CM that I did not have one. Still she said I could book the room only discount with the WWOD promo.

So I got PFQ for $87 in September!!:cool1: :cool1:

Disney also already sent me the invoice by e-mail with my confirmation so I am not worried about them taking it away!!:thumbsup2

I am excited!!

Me too. I told the CM at the very beginning of the call that I had no postcard or email. I asked her to check if I had a PIN. She said "No, but I do have codes that I can use for you." How on earth would Disney revert my package back to rack rates based on that? :confused3 There's no way. I also received my email confirmation with all the details and price clearly listed. I think mine will stay the way it is as I didn't do anything shady to get it.

You do make a point there. So when the research by the legal department begins, if the allocation of discounted rooms is all booked up and folks that actually DO have a legal PIN # are being turned away, then cancellations or rate adjustments may occur. If the allocated number of rooms is not filled and all that are calling with legal PIN #s are getting the rooms they want, then there may be no action taken.

------------------

Hmmm..guess that could be the beginning of things to come..

Some user names are very close to the person's actual name.

And with every user posting what dates they are going -- what resort they are calling - and frequently "I just got off the phone.." giving them a rough date and time of the call.. it wouldn't be hard to match up at least *some* users to their actual reservations.

Not hard at all.

Okay--I hope Disney reads that I had a pin in their system. I just don't think the CM applied it. The first CM told me I had a pin, and it just never came up with the second CM.

As a TA, I asked specifically on each call if a PIN was required for the Z code and was told NO, by 6 different CMs. They better not take that discount away from the clients I booked!

I rebooked 10 mins ago after booking with the code this morning. the CM used the words "pin attached to my account" when talking about the code. I think each CM says something different.

Maybe they haven't "fixed the problem" because it's not (or they don't see it as) a problem?? :confused3

As many others have said...if they "dropped the ball" ("known for at least a week"), wouldn't they have put a stop to it by now? People are still posting daily that they "got it!"

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Phooey! I never received an email confirmation... :confused3

BTW, I am getting a discount but didn't ask for or mention "the code." The CM dug a discount up for me that does give me 40% off. I will be very upset if I get harrassed for this when it was no doing of mine!

The only time I have ever received an e-mail confirmation is when I book online. If I book through the 407-wdisney number, I get a hard copy confirmation in the mail.

You guys knew you took a risk, when asking other DIS members if they would PM their code to you.

If you lose the discount, then you cant blame Disney, but yourself for trying to "cheat" the system.

Some people who has received the code with a pin number, but havnt booked yet, might not get a room because of people who "cheat" the system.

Btw. flame away, i can take it! :)

I have no idea whaqt Disney will do, but i will tell you about how they handled a similar mishap back in 2001.
Back before the DIS had guidelines about posting codes, a code was posted in the spring of 2001 for fall bookings. It was listed as a general public code. Many many of us booked it.Then about 2 days later, it was revealed that wehn someone tried to use the code, they were told it was a rate only for residents of certain states.Everyone went nuts much like you are all now, i was one of those people who booked but didnt not live inthe right state.Long and short of is that i called Disney and asked about it and they admistted that they had made a mistake with the code but honored it for everyone who had booked as long as no modifications were made to the ressie (like changing resorts).
So Disney MAY let you keep it but who knows?

If they don't see this as a problem, then shame on them.

As I've said many times, I have NO problems with people getting discounts who have these pins or codes. I don't agree that not everyone gets them, but that's Disney's business - So be it.

What I do have a serious problem with, is so many people who don't have pins getting the discount, while others (myself included) are being denied. THAT is not fair, and yes, that is a problem. There's no 2 sides to it. That's not good business.
