Just home! I bought a Pal Mickey, could not hear that well in the parks, but he was alot of fun. However I did notice that not to many people had them! The parks got very busy on Monday when we had left. Nice weather.

I got one on this past trip...loved him!!! We didn't have too much trouble hearing him...it's probably a good thing he doesn't talk so loud that he is annoying to other guests. The jokes are totally corny...but they generally made us laugh, and Mickey cracked himself up! Great idea.

I have one too...We got him on our weekend trip last July and we've taken him with us everytime since. Jokes are very corney...but every once in awhile intresting trivia comes out of his mouth (speakers).

We bought one during our trip the last week in March. We enjoyed him, but I too was very surprised that we only saw one or two other "pals" our entire trip.

We plan to get one in August to help entertain our 3 yo DD. I have seen one and heard the jokes and they are kinda corny. What kind of things does he do in the parks?

He gives you trivia about the parks/rides and will tell you if a ride has a short wait or if a show or parade is coming up soon. He also plays games.

I love my pal Mickey. He is great. I can't wait to bring him back down for this vacation.

If I read the info correctly you have the option of renting Pal Mickey for a day or for several days, or buying Pal Mickey outright. Thinking back to when my daughter was young I can just imagine telling her we were only going to have Pal Mickey with us for a couple days, she says that's fine with her, then trying to wrest Pal Mickey out of her arms at the end of our Disney vacation. What a way to end a vacation, your child in tears as Pal Mickey returns to the store. Wonder how the rental rate compares to the purchase rate.

Oddly enough the only one I saw was in Epcot and being carried by a 40ish year old man. Near the area between Future World and World Showcase heard Mickey say something about looking for a shortcut between FW and World Showcase.

I seem to recall that there was some sort of trade in allowed -- maybe they deduct the rental (or some portion?) from the purchase of the Pal Mickey if you decide you want to buy one after renting it?

I was there in October for Halloween and didn't see a single one, as far as I recall.

We rented Pal Mickey in March. What they did was charged us a deposit equal to the cost of purchasing Pal Mickey. Then each day you keep him the amount you get back when you return him goes down to reflect the daily rental fee.

Does that make sense?

What was nice for us was that I rented him at about 9:30 on Weds and they said the return time for the next day was noon. We went to Epcot for that day and then hit EE at MK the next morning before leaving for our cruise. That way we got him for two days in the parks, but only paid for one day of use. I do wish I would have kept him and don't exactly know why I didn't. We will by buying one next time we go back.

My sister in law just picked one up yesterday and is bring it home this weekend for my daughter. She will be thrilled and I will be when we take him to the parks.

I think I'm going to rent one while we're in the parks. I'd like to buy one, but we'll have to see how things go.

Looking forward to it!

Steph

How much is it to bring Mickey home? Need to buy one for my brother-in-law. I'm assuming that Mickey begins speaking spontaneously when close to an attraction...so what exactly does he say when not in the parks?

I purchased our Pal Mickey at the hotel for 56.33 plus tax.

Mickey will giggle and shake when he has something to tell you in the parks. Squeeze one of his hands or press his tummy within 15 seconds to hear what he has to say.

He tells very corny jokes (what do you call Pluto when he sits in front of the fire? A hot dog!) He repeats whatever he has to say up to 5 times if you squeeze or press within 15 seconds.

My DD4 had him in the stroller next to her (buckled in of course). I was able to hear him giggle while pushing the stroller thru a crowd. And he knows enough to be quiet at the indoor shows too.

When you get home, there are 3 different games you can play with Pal Mickey. The instruction book tells you how. Plus he keeps telling those really corny jokes.

I think it was well worth the money.

We too are hoping to get a Pal Mickey in August when we go to wdw. I'm hoping my almost 3 year old son will have some fun with it and I always like to know all the useless trivia about everywhere I go so that should be good too. :)

Does anyone know if you can request a new one if you're going to buy it, or are they all used? If I"m going to buy it, I'd prefer to have one that's brand new... It's not a huge deal but doesn anyone know how it works?

Thanks!

Well mine came in a box and looked brand new. I never even thought that it may have been previously used. The Mikey was all wired up in the box so I assumed it was new.

Maybe they have the rentals some place else in the store.

Our Pal Mickey is about to make his fourth trip with us and I still don't know what he is saying! My youngest now 3 claimed him as her own and she doesn't share! :(

Anyone heard of a software update? Sometime ago, somebody on these boards mentioned a quick update of some sort could be "loaded" into previously purchased Pal Mickeys at sites that sell them. Anyone know if this is accurate and/or necessary? (Are the showtimes, parades, etc loaded into Pal's memory, or merely broadcast to a receiver inside him?)

I'm not surprised... they were once very popular and then they jacked up the price. Forgetaboutit!
