I have which might be considered a really stupid question about the automatic temperature at BCV. What happens at night when no one is moving? How does the heat/airconditioning stay regulated?? I'm only asking because one, I really want to know, and two, I'm fearful with my husband's and my TOTAL difference in body temperature, I'm afraid he will be waking several times during the night to do the "cooling dance" in front of the red eye!!! Trust me, he is reptilian!!

We stayed at BCV last August and in our room the temp did not stay regulated. Our room warmed up during the night and I was reduced to waving my leg up and down in bed each night....not fun. We did talk to the manager and he said they were working on a solution to that problem...when, who knows.

When we were there in December, we got in the habit of turning the heat up at night because we were chilled in the AM. It wasn't until we returned that I re-read here about the heating system at BCV and it connected. Within a matter of minutes of being out of bed and moving around, we were too warm and turning the heat down. I don't have a solution for you....maybe someone else can help. Just wanted to share our experience.

We haven't been home yet to the BCV, but they installed this same system in the main building at the GF, where we stayed last spring. It was a nightmare. Our room would go up to 80 degrees at night, and we would have to get up and move around to cool it off. Finally, management had engineering override the thermostat in our room, giving us control over the temperature. The problem with that was that the system would automatically revert after 48 hours. We were there for about 2 weeks, and had to call engineering every 48 hours to manage the problem. I hope it is not so bad at the BCV! Ugh!

I think maybe if more people complain if they can't regulate the temperature, management will, hopefully, do something to correct the problem. While I am all for keeping electrical costs down on our assesments, I refuse to suffer while I am staying in what is supposed to be luxurious accomodations. Maybe they can do something else with the system to cut costs, but this stuff with temps rising substantially at night when you are sleeping. That just isn't going to cut it with me. I didn't pay as much as I did, and pay annual dues every year to sweat in a hotbox when I am on vacation.

I'll bet the solution that they are working on will probably be some sort of temperature range deal. In other words, the system will still regulate the temperature, but the system will then limit how high the temp can go such as 76 or 78. I would think this would be viable.

Maybe they might be looking at a timing issue as well. Have the temperature rise a little more during the day while you're out, but then in the evening be a bit more forgiving.

Who knows.
