Not sure why I dislike HS.

I am in HS right now waiting in line for rock n rollercoaster. The last two times I have visited HS I have not liked being here. My wife does not like it either. If fact they left to go back to the resort while I am staying to ride RNC and ToT with my 15 yo son. Some of the rides I do like but really dislike the park as a whole I am not sure why though. . I love the other three and would go back to any of those over HS. Just needed a place to vent that. On our next trip we may not come to HS at all.

We love several of the rides and fantasmic. But the park is so poorly layed out that I am constantly needing to reorient myself.

I've actually grown to like it over the years. At least a lot more than I used to. I think it stems from a seeming lack of attractions and an abundance of shows. I'm hopeful that with all of the discussion over future additions/changes the experience will improve.

It's my least favorite park of the four. When planning a trip, I plan our other three parks and then think to myself, "well, I suppose I should put it in there somewhere". But there's definitely some things I do like there, some rides and shows. It's still 1000 times better than where I am right now! ;)

This is my problem with the Studios as well. I do like the park, but the layout just seems so poorly planned. As new attractions were added they just tacked on new sections of the park so there is no real flow.

I know my way around well, but I always feel badly for new guests trying to make their way there. Just try giving easy, newbie-friendly directions from one place to another. It isn't possible.

I know what you mean. The lay out of the place is horrendous. That's what does it for me. Don't care much for the restaurants either.

HS is the main reason we end up getting park hoppers. I don't want to spend much time in there, but I HAVE to see Fantasmic at least once per trip. So getting a hopper pass solves it. We go in, MAYBE do ToT just for the story up front (if I could skip out on the actual ride, I'd do it.) and then we head over to Fantasmic and that's our entire day in HS aside from admiring the styles of the shops.

You got that right. I remember one of our early trips when they had the Ninja Turtles stage show. My son was a big fan. We could see where it was on the map but couldn't figure out how to get there. By the time we finally did the show ended.

DHS is our least favorite park too. Maybe it has to do with the poor layout, but it always seems much more crowded than the other parks with lots of people and no where to go take a break from the crowds. We were there in early September and we know it couldn't be that busy with wait times for RNRC and ToT a half hour or less and TSMM at 45-60 minutes and Star Tours at 5-10 minutes, but it still felt crowded compared to MK, Epcot, and AK.

It is an very small park with very few rides, but... It has the best roller coaster(RNRC), the best slow dark ride(TSM), 2nd best live show (B&B) and best thrill ride(ToT). Once those are done, we am ready to leave. It's clearly a 1/2 to 3/4 day park.

It became my favorite park the last trip. I have always loved MK the best but it seemed run down and lost some of it's magic for me with many ride closures. HS is clean, I find the layout compact, I rode TOT for the first time, I love most of the shows and I experienced American Idol for the first time and loved it and also visited at night with a cool DJ at the main stage. Ate at sci-fi for the first time and was very good and enjoyed some of the shops as well. Also did the Art of Animation class and drew Eeyore and was just a cool experience. Great Movie ride is always fun and used FP plus for TSM which worked out. I don't find it overcrowded at all and feel it's much more compact then the other parks.

Defiantly feels more crowded. Lines seem to take longer as well even with fast passes. Layout is terrible and for some reason I just don't like the atmosphere as much. We just got off RNC and other than the start it was a bit disappointing. Very short and even though its a dark ride the props were lame to me. I would not come back to HS just to ride it. I loved BTMRR at MK. I would ride it over and over.

There is plenty to do at DW, so why hang out somewhere you don't enjoy? We didn't go to HS this last trip and I have no regrets.

But I understand the dilemma. If you love Toy Story Mania (and want to be there first thing to get as many rides as possible), and you want to see Fantasmic at night, there can be a long day in between.

We would spend any extra time in the drawing class, just doing it over and over again. At first I thought it was a waste of time, but it can be a nice relaxing way to pass the afternoon.

Another idea is to leave the park and take the boat in front of HS over to the Boardwalk and walk around. If you have never seen that area, it can be kind of fun to discover a new part of DW. And the boat and Boardwalk area are free.

Fantasia Gardens mini-golf is also within walking distance.

In my opinion, the issue isn't the lack of things to do, the issue is the theming. I just don't feel as happy in the park as I do in MK or Epcot. The buildings feel too square and too normal and too much like real life.

My dislike of HS is a mystery as well, but I think I have an idea why it's so different then the others: It's not "soft".
There aren't as many green areas or plantings. It's a cityscape, industrial-looking. It looks and feels like the local amusement parks. Not much of a mystery, no magic. That's my 2 cents.:confused3

Aww that's so sad, I love DHS, it's my second favorite park after MK. I love the Street performers, they are such a huge part of that park for me. Of course the awesome rides (ToT, RnR, TSM, Star Tours), I love the drawing class as well and the unique character opportunities (Ralph at the moment, Disney Jr., etc). Fantasmic is such a fun show to watch at night too and I don't mind dinner at 50s Prime Time or Mama Melrose (or the convenience of walking over to the Boardwalk for dinner before Fantasmic). I do consider it a "relaxing park" though...maybe that's why I love it so much, I don't feel like I have to rush to get everything done :confused3

DHS is actually my second favorite park, after Magic Kingdom! My DF and I both love thrill rides, so we love R n R and ToT. He loves Star Wars, I love Beauty and the Beast, and we were both surprised at how much we loved TSMM (haha). We also got a kick out of Characterpalooza, and still haven't experienced the Muppets, Fantasmic, or the Great Movie Ride, so that's on our "next time" list. We could easily do a day and a half, because we would do the big 3 multiple times.

But to each their own, and one less visitor is better for wait times :rotfl:

~I love DHS and I just adore the glamorous look and feel of this park. :cloud9: But it does need more attractions, specifically for families. I would love to see Disney expand on the Pixar themes and of course, Star Wars. :wizard:

I love DHS but I did notice on our last trip that the park isn't laid out well for efficient touring. RnRC was down for a short time in the morning and that immediately caused ToT to get a longer line that didn't really dissipate even after RnRC opened back up. The mad rush for Jedi Training and TSMM is annoying as well. 10 minutes after the park opened FP times were already at 1:30 in the afternoon. This was during August, which was a slow time, and the ride was at 120 minutes at times during the day. Just crazy.

The Great Movie Ride is hidden behind the hat. We actually missed it on a previous trip because we didn't make it a point to seek it out.

But really it's about the layout. Head to the back of the park to get a FP for TSMM, then hit up ToT or RnRC if standby isn't too long at the front of the park or head to one side of the park to do Star Tours, snag a FP for RnRC or ToT at the front of the park, then head over to the Backlot Tour at the back of the park, then to the Great Movie Ride, then use your FP, again at the front of the park, etc. It's just a lot of back and forth if you don't want to wait in line. FP+ will help with some of that because you can organize your FP times for the three headliners better, but for some of it you'll still be back and forth.

Now, if there was an expansion to include more rides and/or lands then that would help I think. Star Wars Land is the natural fit in my opinion.

All in all I like it, but there is room for improvement.

It's my least favorite park too. I could totally do it every 2nd or 3rd trip....EXCEPT RnR and TOT are two of my favorite rides!!! I have to go there JUST for those rides. Its usually a very short day for us and we have yet to make it to Fantasmic...although we plan for it every trip.

Exactly the way I feel. I always seem to turn grumpy when I'm in HS, and I think it has to do with all the asphalt and concrete...not enough landscaping, gardens and flowers.

Our family's "mandatory" meltdown usually happens at HS. :rotfl2:
