Not sure what to do

We are going at the end of Sept which is the same time that a co-worker and her family are going. We had the same TA and she suggested that we book all ADRs under my ressie since I was checking in sooner that way my co worker would be able to get decent ADR's. It makes us a party of 9 but the TA said we would most likely be split up into 2 tables at most restaurants anyway so I agreed. The restaurants we are eating at are: Le Cellier, Ohana, CP, LTT, 1900 PF, Tusker House, Akershus, CM's, and CRT. Of these restaurants, which ones will most likely split us into 2 tables and which ones will most likely keep us together? The reason I ask is because DH is not going to be happy with me if we have to eat all of our meals with a family that he has never met. And while I like my co-worker very much, I don't want to spend my whole trip with her and her family either. So I figured for some of the ones that we would probably be put together, I can try to rebook for just my family and then change the ADR for her family from 9 people to 4 people. Any thoughts?

I was able to rebook CRT this morning for just my family at the exact same time as the ressie for all of us so I'm going to cancel the one for 9 and let her try to rebook it for her family if she's interested but I'm not comfortable having that whole ressie on my cc in case she doesn't show. Wish I could get Akershus rebooked.

wow I think your TA really screwed up. I would have never agreed to this. If you can I would ask that she rebook the ressies and split up your reservations. I like my coworkers too but would never want to hang out with them on vacation. Especially sit down meals.

Have the ressie changed to 4 people dont cancel and have her pay you now for the reservation CRT is not easy to get. Explain this to your co worker Im sure she will understand. Not only that but Le Cellier is not easy to rebook either. Id hate to see you leave her without any ressies. And then have an angry coworker on your hands. or have her call to book before you cancel any see what she can get so you know what to cancel and what to change for your family.
Good Luck!!

I don't mind an occasional meal, I just don't want to do all the meals. Rather than rebook everything, I was hoping at most of these that I could just ask at when we check in to be split into 2 tables but I'm not sure which ones this would and wouldn't work at. Anyone know?

Wow, I think the TA really overstepped her bounds here. I personally wouldn't do that unless we were going together (on purpose) and genuinely wanted to eat together. Hope it all works out:goodvibes.

I agree TA overstepped b/c the way WDW holds tables for ADR most places you will be seated together! Then again, if you ask to be seated seperatley will your co worker take offense?

I would call and see what can be done, and/or when you get to the world or check in at the restaurant Id get there a bit earlier and see what you can do.

You know what also she messed you up b/c parties that large have automatic gratuity also.. Id call TA and let her know what she has done!

what a mess! that has to be the worst advice I have seen in a very long time!

Extract yourself now. It is not too late. There is no reason that your family has to eat every meal with this other one. Not to mention, they won't seat you until everyone is there. What if they are 30 minutes late!!

Not to mention, as a PP said, you will have an 18% gratuity automatically applied to your party since you are a group over 6, regardless if you are at two tables.

I would change everything to your family size and let the chips fall where they may. I would also NEVER use this TA again :sad2:

If I call in to change the party size do you think I'll be able to keep all my ADR's or will I risk losing some? On the bright side, I was able to rebook 4 of them today - must be a lot of cancellations coming in.

That's tough because you likely will lose those ADR's, and you'll leave yourselves in a lurch in addition to your co-worker.

Personally, I would definitely complain to your TA. Ask her to see if anything can be rebooked separately.. see what can be done about it at this point. And whatever can't be booked separately, I think you'll have to live with it.

As far as the gratuity issue, I'm sure they'd be willing to split it up at the restaurant if you ask them to. I doubt it's uncommon for big groups to split the grat bill, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Do you think when we check in if I tell them we are ok with being put at separate tables that they'll do that?

Highly unlikely. Most of the restuarants have large table to accomidate large parites, and that is what wil be reserved for you. Putting you at 2 smaller tables takes those smaller tables away for someone else who reserved them. Most likely you will all be asked to sit together at most if not all of your ressies. Sorry!

Don't forget that Sept. is free dining so the chances of getting your reservations changed to two smaller tables is probably nil. Basically every restaurant we have been to has large tables to accomodate large groups so I don't think you will be split up at all. You can call and see if there is anything they can do but at this point you may be stuck. Your TA should have never taken it upon herself to make the suggestion.

For those that are saying that the OP should not be happy that the TA did this the OP had the option of saying no when the TA first suggest it. So in a way both are to blame. There is no way the TA was to know that they didn't want to dine together if the OP didn't mention that or didn't communicate her feelings about booking them together. People aren't mind readers. I do agree that the TA shouldn't have suggested that to begin with but the OP should have spoken up.

For CRT instead of cancelling why not try to change it get your co-workers cc # and tell her since you are modifying it you need to put her credit card detail on the reservation. Whether you actually do or not is up to you but she won't know that

You can also go to each restaurant when passing by them and let them know you definitely want separate tables. I am sure that they will have others that are nervous about not sitting together and that will open up larger tables for those that definitely want them.

Whatever happens have a great time

I agree that this is partly my fault as well. However, I was led to believe that we would most likely be at separate tables so I didn't think it would be a big deal. Had I know up front that most likely we would be at the same table, I never would have agreed. I just found out the other day that my credit card was used to guarantee CRT and Akershus (should have thought that one through better). But I was able to get a different ADR for CRT so I can cancel the original and she can attempt to call in and grab it if she still wants it. Looks like I'm stuck with Akershus so all I can do is cross my fingers and hope she and her family show up.

I guess I'm going to keep trying to rebook the meals for my family and hopefully I'll be able to get the party size reduced to 4 on the original ressie for her family. If not, what will happen if she and her family show up for an ADR for 9 but there's only 4 of them? Will this cause her issues?
