Not sure if this is the right group-looking for creative ideas

I was refered here but not sure if this is the place for my post-
I want to create some additional magic and excitement for the kids. I know how much I look forward to my mickey mail so I want to do that for the boys in the months leading up to vacation.
I want to make invitations to character Meal(s) and/or an invite from tink to see wishes at the dessert party.
What else can anyone suggest?
5 year old Son is into maps(we have the disney personalized from last trip) so a way maybe to add a Map of something for him?
We are staying at CBR in pirate room and I wish I left that for a surprise but I cant contain my own excitement.

We have done disney movie nights and made special cupcakes(pics in my PTR) and had a 100 days til disney celebration when we got to it complete with 101 dalmations. I want to do a 50 days til dis next week. Need to get thinking as to how to theme it.
So far we saw Beauty and the beast, snow white,lion king, Aladdin, 101 dalmations (plus our usually collection, peter pan, Pinocchio, cars...)Ods was asking about Tarzan so I ordered that from netflix but I need more theme park/ride theme movie or party.

We ordered the Guide to the magic book so that might be a fun way to begin that "party" if I get it soon(it takes a long time.)

If you start at the tips thread sticky, it will give you lots of ideas. Plus, spend some time going through the different threads and do searches for stuff. There is enough stuff here (just read some of the threads on \and you will get lots of ideas. ) Penny

thanks. I think this board is way too advanced for my creative abilities. I saw the invitations which I can handle but I cant search if I dont know what I am searching for,lol. Oh well Ill figure it out when I have more time. Thanks

After some browsing(wonderful work everyone) I think I dont have the knowledge to accomplish the things posted. It was fun to see it all. I might make the coutdown chain but we already did a disney calander and I can make invitations(I love the others out there but I want them to be made By me)

I love that design but (really dumb question) What is to for? Is it a graphic I can add to my own work or something else? I wasnt sure what if I could use it for my own. I am really not savy here as you can tell.

Yes I put the graphics together to make the DISign.
I thought since you are staying in the pirate room you might want a welcome sign for your son. Some people decorate their rooms. Just an idea.

Most all of the things in the "what do you make thread" are available for free on the DISBoards if you look. If you can print and cut (and iron if it is a t-shirt) then certainly you can make them.

You do have to spend the time to look through threads to find the things.

Bababear (Mel) has lots of wonderful bag toppers to make treats for your kids by adding to ziploc bags then inserting candy, pretzels, what ever.

Tons of DISigners have great t-shirt designs. I think right now Rustmanfan (Marion) probably leads the pack in DISigns.

Donatalie (Natalie) has lots of free blank DISigns but isn't personalizing them right now.

I'm the same...look through the link in my 4shared file and I have tons of blank designs including candy wrappers, "Grand Welcome" designs, etc.

You can find links to all of the DISigners on the Boards shared things by looking in the "meet the DISigners" thread.

Again, you don't have to design anything, you just have to find it, print it and cut it out typically and/or iron it on a shirt.

BTW, the lovely DISign that Bababear made for you can be used as t-shirt design for you family. You can print it and post it on your door as a "welcome" for your family at your resort and it will help you to quickly locate your room at the end of each fun filled day. There are lost of things you can do with it.

Thanks, I dont mind making things, I enjoy it but I am hands on like paint and assembly, that kind of crafty. I am able to make invites and things and I do want to make my own not print one out and I want to do things with my kids not as gifts for them. Thanks again, I think I will just go on my own and make some sort of map. I want things I can mail to my own house for the kids in the weeks prior to arrival to stir excitement.

ETA_ Bababear- I wanted to thank you for the Disign, I do love it. I hadnt inteneded to decorate my room on vacation but I will take that since you were so nice to do it! The kids have a pirate bedroom at home, so he will love it. Would you be able to change the Ahoy part to Ahoy Jesse and Shane?

If I wanted to do a Tshirt, how would I get and put on a transfer? Is there a link as to how? Do I purchase one from someone here? I googled Tshirts and transfers and all I found was designs but not instructions. TIA< again I am sorry I am asking so many dumb questions.
eta- I see I can buy Espon Transfer paper soI am getting there.

Re T shirt transfers here is a link which suggest what many here who have made t-shirt transfers say is the best place to buy the transfer sheets.

I know most walmart and Michaels stores sell the transfer sheets also --although the quality is not as good in my opinion.

So I go and buy the t shirt transfers and read the instructions

I wash and dry my t shirt but don't use fabric softener.


I print my desired design out using transfer paper.
This is one Marion made for me for the flower and garden show
I transferred it onto a plain white t-shirt

Check transfer instructions as I think you may have to reverse the image.
(Not so with Amy's transfers --although I could be wrong)--check

Heat iron
find a smooth firm place to do the transfer--kitchen counter--diningroom table

and presto

Hope this kind of gives an idea.

Maybe others could also post their experiences--doing t-shirt transfers
