We are family of 5... we bring one other adult along every year and get a wonderful OKW 2 BR...... and proceed to have the time of our lives!

I am toying with the idea of a 'girls only' trip in October 03. A studio will be 58 points for 4 nights (incl and Friday and Sat)... a 1BR is almost double that.

My DH said, "I wouldn't stay in a studio - the beauty of OKW is all the room with a 1 and 2 BR.... " etc... Suddenly, I found myself agreeing.

I now find myself in a situation of considering staying somewhere else on site.... maybe somewhere my two DDs, (11 and 8), and I can hop on the monorail or a boat.. and get to MK! And, maybe not even rent a car, or concern myself with the stove decoration. :jester:

Any helpful tips or experiences re: this wonderful dilemma to have? I look at 58 pts as $580.....

ps... Go Angels! Although I would love Kenny Lofton to get a ring. (old Cleveland man, y'know!)

Well if the goal is to get the best October 2003 location for 4 nights for $580, be onsite, and have as many transportation options as possible, then your choices are mostly the moderate resorts (PO, CS, CB) at this point. I bet with a little luck you'll be able to upgrade to a YC/BC or WL room through one discount or another as time gets closer and Disney starts to discount to fill rooms.

Ever think of trying a VWL studio which would be 58 points for a Wednesday to Sunday stay, have the boat to MK available, and give you a quiet location?

I stayed at the BWV last Dec. with my Mom, my 8yo dd and my 5 yo ds. It was great to be able to walk or take the boat to Epcot and MGM. We only took the bus to the MK and the AK. :)

Go for it! DVC is the ultimate in flexible, and if you really want the best access to MGM and Epcot, BCV or BWV is the place to be. You don't even absolutely need any transport, as you can walk to both, MGM being a little bit of a hike. If you want MK, WLV is cool as they have direct boat launches either to the Contemporary, where it's a short walk away or a 3 hopper boat that does MK then FW then WL then back to MK. OR, you can stay at BCV/BWV and go thru Epcot and take the monorail to MK. We've done that on a few mornings. There's certainly no lack of transport there.

And, I would say a 1br at with BWV/BCV isn't exactly tiny, certainly not as spacious as OKW, but still very roomy.

(edit)

Oh. I missed the part you're looking at something comparable to a studio - The studios at BW/BC are nice too, so are the rooms at YC/BC and the same transportation options are still applicable. I'd avoid any of the value resorts as their transportation can get nasty.

All of the deluxe resorts are lovely, just pick which atmosphere and location you want and go with that resort. I do not think you will be able to get a deluxe room for $580.00 for 4 nights though. I have an AP rate at BWI for Dec and it is $187.50 per night including tax, which is a pretty good rate, so that would be $750.00 for 4 nights. If you take a trip with just your DDs I am sure you will enjoy staying somewhere else for a change and I know you will be spoiled by the super convenient locations of the deluxe resorts and the wonderful hotel amenitites available to you. You might even want to have room service for breakfast one day as a treat, my kids always loved this when they were younger. If you stay at either a MK monorail resort or an Epcot resort you definitely do not need a car nor do you need a stove decoration because there are numerous excellent restaurants right at your fingertips. Enjoy!

If you will not be bothering with a car and want to use points, a studio at BWV or VWL would be your best option. Space wise not too much of a difference... the OKW studio is still a bit bigger (especially the bathroom) - and just remember that someone will be sleeping on a pull-out sofa (not as comfortable as 2 Q beds at OKW).

We have stayed in a studio in all but the new BCV's... and find they each have their own charm. I'm sure you will enjoy it no matter which you choose.

Points really aren't the issue - I guess I'm just considering staying somewhere else because the reasons OKW works for us will not be tagging along!

I'm ready to think outside the box! thanks so much for the suggestions - all good ones.

Sue
