We just got back from 7 days down there.... Many of you know that "I" don't enjoy WDW very much. Mostly it is my wife that does, and my kids do "some" as well. ( i don't enjoy rides or crowds, or high prices ---
)
For this trip it was my family and the 2 teenage girls who live next to us. We paid for their vacation except for airfare.... more on this later.....
Day 1: Just a lazy stay at home day. we rented a home at Windsor Hills... We stopped at Publix and loaded up on food. We had dinner at the house and swam in the pool at the house.
Day 2: Stayed around the house til 3PM and then went to Islands of Adventure for about 4 - 5 hours. Not my cup of tea, but almost everybody else seemed to like it. Rain closed some of the rides for a while. In fact it rained EVERY SINGLE day. We closed out the night by eating a late dinner at the Hard Rock.... which was cool that I sat next to KC and the Sunshine Band stuff, as well as Lynyrd Skynyrd stuff.... 2 of my favorite bands.
Day 3: Took a trip to Cocoa Beach and had a fabulous time. Beach was nice, not crowded, and the people on the beach were nice folks... ate at a bar on the beach. would make this trip again.
Day 4: Wet N Wild .... ughh... NEVER AGAIN. I'll stick to the Disney water parks from now on. Felt like I was in "Thug City".....
Day 5. I was sick and stayed back at the house. My family and the 2 girls went back to IOA. They had the $99 week long pass for both parks. They never did get over to the other Universal park, though.... but we had been there before, so no big deal.
Day 6: A day at MGM.... it poured like a bugger almost the entire day... but I liked that! The heat was less, and the crowds were down. Longest we waited was 20 - 25 minutes to get on stuff, and usually only about 15. We did lots of things there that we had never done before. Only thing I didn't get to see / do was the thrill show. I also didn't do the thrill rides, but my whole crew did them. I sat in the rain.... and enjoyed people watching.
Day 7: We slept late... went swimming.... ate at Smokey Bones ( which we all loved )... and then finished up at Downtown Disney..... oh, wait, we also went to Beaches and Cream and had the Kitchen Sink.... The 5 of them ate it all. I can't eat ice cream as I am diabetic. BTW, the menu says, "serves 4"..... I honestly think you could easily have 8 - 10 people eat that thing.
Overall, for me, it was a good trip... at least as good as a WDW trip can be.... now, back to those girls we brought.....
As I said, my family took the 2 girls who live next to me to Disney at no charge to them other than they paid their airfare. We covered EVERYTHING else.
The younger one was great... lots of fun and showed great manners and respect. The older one... well, not so much. She was anti - social. Seems to be going out of her way not to have a good time. And I caught her on her cell phone at 4AM - after I told her to turn it off last night at 11pm AND THEN AGAIN AT 1AM. I had to take her phone from her.
Plus, she had been ordering meals whenever we go out and not eating them, wasting lots of money She would order a whole meal with salad and only eat the salad. . By day 5 I only allowed her to eat a salad on our money... if she wanted to eat more than that, she had to pay for it. She never ordered anything more than a salad for the rest of the trip.
So Wednesday night I got my revenge. We were at "Downtown Disney" and there was a DJ playing fun dance songs. We coaxed her to be near us when our whole family and her sister were dancing and having fun. She had her iPod on and seemed oblivious to everything and did not look happy to be with us..... Well, I had had enough, and decided to do something... not sure what, but "something" to get a little "revenge".
At that moment the DJ provided the PERFECT setting..... and the video cameras all got trained on me.... I expect that I'll be on youtube shortly.
The DJ put on "Single Ladies".... and I decided to dance the song AROUND the teenager, who was absolutely MORTIFIED....
It almost made having her along all worthwhile.
