Reading the thread about why people hate the Super Wal Marts made me remember a story about one of the dumbest employees I have ever encountered. I don't normally shop at Wal Mart, but will on occasion. One day, I had a basket full so I went to a checkout lane that no one was in. Unloaded my whole basket and the employee says it will be a minute, that the lady in front of me had to go to the bank. There were bagged groceries on the end waiting be be loaded into a cart. I say ok-after all, the "bank" is only 30-40 feet away from the checkout lane. I stand there probably 10 minutes and am watching people go up to the bank counter and leave and finally I ask this employee which lady shes waiting for as I don't see anyone that had been in the "bank" area for any length of time. Get this - the lady had left Wal Mart to drive across town to her bank. This idiot employee is standing there waiting for her to come back.

Wow! I can't believe she waited there all that time. I also can't believe the nerve of that customer! Some people are extremely self-centered.

What I would have done:

1.) Push the other person's stuff out of the way and have the cashier ring up mine

2.) Go to another lane

or...

3.) Walk out

If the customer wanted to go to the bank, then he/she should have done it before coming to Wal-Mart!

That's pretty bad.

The last time I was in Walmart, I saw a cashier do something very stupid. THe customer had his items on the belt, and he had put one of those long, rectangular dividers at the end to separate his stuff from the next person's. Anyway, the cashier gets to it, starts turning is over and over, and finally asks, "What is this? I don't see a price."

On top of that, for a minute, the customer, a senior gentleman, couldn't figure out what it was or why it was there!

Speaking of stupid employees. Last night the girl at McDonalds asked me if I wanted cream or sugar in my Coke.

I just gave her a look like this - .

She then realized what she said and told me it was a big coffee night last night.:p

i was down at the local deli here in staten island (im visiting my friend at the moment) and i ordered a sandwich. i sed to them put on mayo. the guy sed to me, no mayo? i told him yes mayo. then i bring it back to my friends house and it had no mayo. i was so angry. i may go back there today and tear the dude a new 1. lol.

I think there's a difference between being stupid (ie-the person waiting for the customer to come back from the bank across town!!!!) and distracted ("you want cream and sugar in your Coke" after a long night of serving lots of coffee!)

If someone seems less than intelligent, I try not to be mean because I figure they have a hard enough life as it is. If someone's distracted...well, I've been distracted at work, so I 'm no better!

I have a story. Not a "stupid" employee - as I think that's a little rude reference to someone... AND because this happened when I was an employee.

I was working at a drugstore at night AND a bank in the day time AND I went to school 2 nights a week. Anyway, at the end of a very long day, a guy put a 6 pack of diet coke on the counter. I asked him for ID. He looked at me like I was a little silly. I looked back at his purchase. Oops. Diet coke packaging looks a lot like Budweiser Beer, especially close to midnight!
