Not selling Aulani? What's going on?

We received a voice mail from our DVC guide today. We bought into Aulani the first week in July, while on a Wonder cruise. They shut down sales shortly thereafter. We received our paperwork when we returned from the cruise, but they told us to hang on to it.

So, we have been hanging on to it.

The voice mail today said that the new paperwork (received today) would note that DVC is subsidizing the dues for us, so that we will only be charged what we were told on while on the cruise.

That's good. We bought our Aulani points on a May cruise. When the problems started, we had already closed and used some of those points. So I called my guide, quality assurance, member accounting, and emailed DVC member satisfaction to find out how we w/b impacted.

I never heard from our guide. QA and accounting wouldn't tell me anything, and I haven't heard from them even after the resolution was announced weeks ago.

DVC did call me back and told me someone would call when everything was resolved. Never heard back.

If not for these boards and the internet stories I'd have no idea of what was going on. Very poor communication on their part.

I agree with the PP all the way! Never in a million years would I have thought that a company like DVC would not communicate with their members. Of course, I understand that they were legally muted. However, I would have appreciated a nice, brief letter stating that we would be contacted as soon as matters would be resolved.

Good news for us is that our guide finally called us today(after we left several message over the past few weeks) to say that her supervisor gave her the go ahead and that the paperwork will be sent out immediately! We "bought" in early June and will get the same exact deal we were given back then, with our dues subsidized!

It actually worked out for the best because it gave us the motivation to save as much as we could. Paying off the extra points will be a lot less painful than if we had bought in June. Silver lining! :cool1:

We also started the process in early June and have been on hold. Did you buy in California? I called our guide and he said they are still not selling here. It'll be nice to finally get this done.

Really the only time that they communicate to us is for marketing or sales purposes. Policy or rule changes and perks seem to get reported here first and later, after the fact, you may see the announcement in the member website.

Canceling the Valet perk was reported when members were charged to Valet park. DVC later stated that they were never told of the policy change by Disney.

Nuckles, we bought while on the Disney Dream but live in California. I wasn't sure if they are waiting for approval on where we purchased or where we live. Hope you get your call soon.

:sad2: Not good Bill.

Our letter with the paperwork said the subsidized fees would be for all who purchased before July 27.
