Not ROFR thread - general discussion

Why is all the DVC Owner stuff you can buy on the Disney Store so dated? I don't even think they have Riviera stuff, let alone newer resorts. Plus it just isn't very good looking. Don't they know DVC owners would probably buy fun DVC stuff?
Totally agree.
Those customizable stuff has been on the Disney Store since at least 2018.... They haven't added or changed anything. They did take out the luggage tags.
The customizable shirts are very poor quality.

Wait, so nobody actually migrated here from the ROFR park transit debate? :/

Having gotten (politely) reminded to stay on topic, I resisted commenting there, but I have to say it: walking from BLT to MK to take a bus to BW to walk to IG is crazy. Personally, if I was staying there, I’d just take a ride share straight to the front of the park. It’s faster and unless you’re going to the area between UK and Germany, it’s likely less walking too!

You beat me to it!

As long as Disney keeps ride shares & non-hotel guest personal vehicles from going to hotels that people are using solely as a theme park entrances then I am fine.

I also think there should be a increasing penalty for people who no-show a reservation at a dining establishment near a theme park entrance because it directly impacts the livelihood of the cast members working in that restaurant.

Hadn’t thought about if from the perspective of staff/cast— but it also makes it more annoying for people actually staying on property to get reservations!

I do think this is a difference between IG (which is open to anyone) and the VGC/PP (RIP) entrances at Disneyland. Shouldn’t literally anybody be able to take an uber to either the Boardwalk dropoff point (surely there is one?) or the Swan/Dolphin?

I guess I’m crazy! 😎 Most of the time, we’re not doing it to save time, We’re doing it to waste time…well, not really waste. But just enjoy the overall bubble and see things we wouldn’t normally get to if we were taking the most direct route.

But there have been several occasions where we’ve done early entry at AK and finished before the park-to-park buses started - so we’ve taken the bus to the Contemporary and walked to MK.

I’m curious - is this different/better than the BWV>IG example? Is the concern that we’re using resort buses other than our own (by the way, I have heard Cast Members encourage this at times) or specifically using them to get to the IG?

As I believe someone said - once HS opens, the skyliner to IG is fair game for anyone with a park hopper to use for IG entry so I’m not understanding the outrage. 🤷‍♀️

I’m very sad to see the mean-spirited posts and reactions on this page. For every person who complains, there are others thinking the same thing. Yes, Karen could have commented more respectfully, but I’m sure all of us can remember the anxiousness of waiting for ROFR and perhaps could extend a little grace to someone hoping to see updates - especially since there is a Not ROFR thread specifically because that discussion thread tends to get off topic.

Having delivered a morning lecture no one wants, I’m off to read some trip reports since I have five months to wait before I can go back to DW.

Over the past year or two, the guard shacks have become very particular about who they let through the gates in a personal vehicle--if you aren't a registered guest or don't have an ADR, you aren't getting in.

I have no idea whether or not rideshare drop-offs are also restricted in this way. The last time I took a rideshare to a Disney resort, they did ask my name to check to see if I was a registered guest. If I had not been, I am not sure what would have happened.

I’m sorry… but there is a huge difference between:

1) Hey guys, could I politely request that we get the thread back on topic as my email inbox is getting filled up with emails about transportation when I am anxiously awaiting information about ROFR.

2) Since you are a moderator, why haven’t all these transportation post been moved? Seriously, tho sis an ROFR thread. There are thread for “how to get here to there”.

My apologies have to EVERYONE who has a contract sent to Rofr. And follow this thread for updates.

I am totally fine with any off topic posts of mine being removed.

On topic, gl to all of us waiting.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce everyone to the “Ignore” functionality. Simply click on their name and hit ignore, and like magic, all of their posts disappear*

*one annoyance is when they spam the boards and get quoted, you read things out of context because you still see the reply

Didn’t use the board sponsor to purchase a contract.
I’m kidding. They didn’t specify, but he’s been on less shows because of his new work schedule, maybe that has something to do with it.
Doing a weekly vlog/podcast with others require a committment that can be extermely difficult to maintain. Things change.

Agree. I think they film 3/4 at a time and release them over the following weeks. I doubt they are getting any monetization from YT, so asides from anything world of DVC throws them, it is really a hobby, and rarely do hobbies pay the bills.

We can move on from the situation in the other thread!

People should feel free to ask questions and I will answer best I can!

I posted that it’s a balancing act and sometimes I too get caught up!

Since I have to read every post in every thread, I do sometimes forget which one I am in when I continue in those off topic discussions!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂

Who is Panda and what was her/his unique/angle?
I would say he played the role of “off the streets” DVC member. They would bring up a topic and he would act shocked and uninformed, they would then use that to teach him and the listener/viewer about whatever they were talking about. He was also not as intimately involved with the world of DVC or worked at one of its tentacles.
