Not ROFR thread - general discussion

Technical question since I don’t know how this all works…could a business add something that would prevent a third party site from collecting its info and posting it?

Meaning can DVCRM put something in place on their end that stops their listings from showing up in this site?
I hope that's not the intention. I feel like they reach a lot more people by being on DVC for less.

That would make little business sense as DFL essentially advertises brokers' listings for free. My guess is that a change to a broker website inadvertently affects how DFL scrapes or monitors their site. Probably means that DFL needs to update code, which maybe takes a few days.

If I ever sell, I wouldn’t want to list through a brokerage that limited where my listing could be seen.
Well, DVCForLess is an aggregator. If your brokerage has the higher pricing of resale sites, there isn't too much incentive to be shown there since the listings would seem like not very good deals unless they are exclusive. That being said, this may not even have been intentional, any changes to the website would've caused the scraping to fail unless they are explicitly giving access to their data to the aggregator via another channel.

DVC resale market has had some of the lowest list prices in the few resorts that I have looked at in the past couple months. I think it's weird that neither dvcforless or DVC resale market has commented about it. They are both regularly on the forum. I hope it gets worked out soon. To me, it's a significant loss to not have the listings on dvcforless.

Asking for a friend ...

How many points are too many points? (The friend is me).

I keep adding and adding ... make me feel better by telling me how many points you have.
We have 300, and it's been enough for 27+ years.

Of course, we just lucked into buying one of the most desirable resorts when there weren't very many others and being able to swap into the new ones as they came along!

See, I feel like that is more than enough for normal humans. I bought in direct at Grand Floridian for 200 points a few years back. Then I added 200 at BCV and then 200 at Saratoga and then another 200 at Saratoga. I have a hard time NOT adding. But ... it's def. time to pause.

My problem is that my husband and I always want to treat family. So we brought my Mom and Stepdad once. We're bringing my husband's cousin and his family from Scotland in a few weeks, we're bringing my Mom and Stepdad again next year and then my husband's sister and her family next spring.

I feel like if we were just using the points for our family we'd be in great shape but we're in "host" mode right now and it's never enough!

Oh yes, if we had brought family every year, we’d have needed many more points! We’ve hosted big family trips only three or four times, booking GV or two 2BR by banking and borrowing, but we’d have loved to do more!

This is what we're doing right now so its hard for me to gauge how many points we will really need for just the two of us, but im at 590 and the only reason we've been able to book 2 bedroom at PIT and Riv this year and AUL and FL calculated for next year is because we just bought and have access to this year and next years points on the three memberships.

I've used and borrowed everything for 2 of the contracts and my third hasn't processed. Once I get the points it will be used and abused for aulani and another FL trip next year.

I think the 2 bedroom party might end once i dont have access to all these double points for the 2x a year we want to go and staycations here and there in one bedrooms 🤣🤣
