LKGood morning RunDisney All-Stars! Welcome to this week’s edition of Sundays Are For Disney (SAFD) where we’ll be continuing our March Movie Madness event! The second round didn’t seem to be much easier for folks, but the results still weren’t all that close, with one exception. So, for our first order of business, here are the second round results:
- Lion King took one step closer to completing the circle of life, devouring Beauty & the Beast 25-15
- Toy Story popped Up’s balloon 25-14
- Our favorite English nanny proved to be no match for Captain Jack’s Pirates of the Caribbean, although she kept it close right up until the end, falling 19-21
- Finally, Star Destroyers proved more powerful than a Star Lord, as Empire Strikes Back took down the Guardians of the Galaxy 22-16
Here are your next round match ups. May the best movies win!

Slightly off-topic: my FB feed is now presenting me with ads for the Gilded Pass hotel packages for MW, but prices are conspicuously absent. Is this a case of "if you have to ask, you can't afford it"? Does anyone have any experience with this, or is it something new?
Flamingo Crossings would be horrible for MW, since Western Way is closed on marathon day, and that's pretty much the only way to get on property without backtracking to 192 and cutting over to World Drive.@Mr_Incr3dible
Mousegen has a short instagram post about it. They were gifted one night by the company during PW, and said they are going to purchase it for SS to see and do a full review. Thy mentioned that it was flamingo crossing area hotels, so it sounds like a 3rd party plus offsite hotel.
That really stinks and sorry to hear it! Your best bet would probably be to try for emergency bib pick up at the start the morning of the 10k. You'll still have to hit the Expo later to get your shirts and maybe the half/full bib. Any chance of heading down after work on Wednesday and calling in "sick" on Thursday so you could get the whole Dopey in?It’s been an interesting couple of days related to my Marathon Weekend.
When I registered for Dopey, getting the time off was sort of an afterthought/foregone conclusion. I assumed since it was post-holidays, I’d be fine. Big mistake, I have now learned.
I submitted my time off request yesterday and it was denied in its entirety. As luck would have it, my boss is planning on being gone almost the exact same time. She wasn’t comfortable with both of us being gone at the same time.
Total gut punch.
I was given the opportunity to move my request by a week in either direction or potentially shorten it. Since that was my only chance to make something out of this, I amended my request from Tuesday-Tuesday to Friday-Tuesday.
Fortunately, my new request was accepted.
My plan now is to leave Thursday after work, do the expo Friday, and run Dopey instead of Goofy. I am still highly bummed out, but this salvages the weekend a bit.
If anyone has any advice on how I can show up to the 10K without a bib, I’d appreciate it.
A day ago, it was looking like this weekend wouldn’t happen at all. I’m thankful to still have a shot at two races and DATW.

As far as I've heard, they're still doing emergency bib pick ups, so you shouldn't have an issue getting it Friday morning. As always, though, RunDisney never guarantees its availability.I’ve considered something like that, but I probably won’t risk it. I generally like my job and the people I work for and would prefer not to jeopardize that. But we’ll see.
Maybe I’ll run a 5K on my own Thursday morning before work.
What do you think my chances of success will be for an emergency bib for Friday?

One additional thought. Do you have any option or capability to work remotely? Maybe negotiate a remote work day on Thursday, allowing you to run the 5k and then call in from the resort, given the circumstances?
That is so disappointing but I'm glad you at least are able to still go and run the longer races. I hope you can negotiate a remote day or two when the dust settles. Agree with the emergency bib pick up on Friday morning and run the 10k if you don't get in too late on Thursday . The good thing is for challenge medals they do not validate any results when handing out medals now. If I were in your shoes I'd run the 5k on Thursday morning on my own and then wouldn't feel guilty accepting and wearing the Dopey medal. I know some people feel very strongly about that sort of thing but it's really up to you. It’s been an interesting couple of days related to my Marathon Weekend.

@lhermiston At PW this year, I didn’t get to the expo before they closed (I wasn’t paying attention to the fact that they closed at 3:00 on the final day, and got there about ten minutes too late). I showed up for the half and went to the Information tent, and they had all the bibs there, along with a table of safety pins. It was no problem at all, and very quick. I did have to show ID, so make sure you have it on you that morning. As for the shirt, I emailed rD after I got home, and got a UPS package delivered a couple of weeks later, containing the shirt. They didn’t even charge me to ship it.
The difference, of course, is that there are still expo days at MW, so you probably will have to go to get your stuff, but they really were very accommodating to me, so you should be okay on 10k morning.
I’m sorry about the trouble, but glad you’ll still be there!

@lhermiston Im so sorry: that just plain sucks.
I don’t think getting your bib day-of for the 10K will be a problem at all. Of all the things rD could take away, I just don’t think this is high on any list.
But also… does your boss know why you’re asking off? As in, to do this really big challenge that’s super good for your physical and mental health, and probably helps make you such an excellent and trusted employee?! I’m just saying - depending on your workplace culture, maaaaybeee a light dusting of passive-aggressive-ish guilt trip could help get that telework option to make the 5K happen.![]()
Since most work gets done over Zoom, Teams, and email these days, being “around” from Disney seems totally workable. You’ll be back to your resort and available well before any of your team get to the office.I’ve got a great boss, but she’s risk averse, we have a small team, and I don’t blame her for wanting at least one of us around in case something hits the fan. IDK, I’ll keep mulling it over.
