Not ROFR thread - general discussion

I am hopeful they stick with the timeline because the soft refurb was done pretty close to the determined schedule considering the shutdowns in 2020.

Resort studios being identical to cash rooms also makes me think they will 100% be refurbished on that schedule and they share materials across the buildings. The new hallway carpeting in all the buildings is the same material as the area rugs in the 1/2-bedrooms. I know they're on a different hard/soft schedule, but I can see them wanting to keep costs down by sharing as much as possible.
The soft refurb was done because they were also selling the new rooms at the same time... I think they may have been delayed if not for that...

Everyone says they are on a 7/14 schedule, but it feels to me many hotels don't stick with that schedule.

I need to work up the courage to go on Cosmic Rewind one of these years.
You really should. It’s not crazy at all, I think it’s just fun!! (Not rough or scary, it’s smooth and exhilarating)

Update: Accepted offer on a BWV contract. Details to follow.
I was about to post that I think I need to sell my 25x2. lol
The way I book spotty and 1 day here another there, it is not worth having separate use years.

So, the hard refurb is due in 2027?

True, but places like PVB also got refurbished well ahead of BLT so IDK what DVC is doing. CCV is also pretty timely.

It may just be the logistical process of doing BLT vs VGF and the longhouses.

IF Disney sticks to the 14 years, it would be end of 2027, beginning of 2028. VGF opened Oct 2013.

Those appliances, cabinets, shower heads, tables, etc are all almost 12 years old! I've only really seen them swap out the refrigerators when they stopped working. Those paneled dishwashers are still Monogram. The murphy bed couch is also new, but that is happening in all DVCs regardless of hard/soft refurb.

It would be nice if they did it in 2027, I think 2029 is more likely given the last refurb was in 2022.

Maybe someone should ask at the next owner's meeting.

That explains a lot! Thank you.

This is fair! The last VGF refurb started in 2021 and ended 2022. I think the closure could have affected things, but I am also sure it's what created the Big Pine Key conversion so who knows what would have happened.

Agreed. The cave has always been this way for me. I half-suspect it is worse for me becaue my contacts only correct for distance vision, and I think the screen in FoP is relatively close, vs. the other 3D attrations where it is far away.

I still really enjoy it---the swooping-over-the-breaking-wave scene is worth the price of admission on its own.

And, in 100% fairness, the scene in Muppet Vision with just Waldo on the black background also doesn't quite render correctly for me.

Ginger gum! Pop a piece in as you get into the station. I went through a brief period on Soarin' of all things, and ginger really helped. It is also MythBusters (Semi-)Approved (tm).

Ginger gum or candy never worked for me - neither did Sea Bands or OTC meds (Dramamine or Bonnie)…but prescription strength Meclizine does and every then, only if I take it over the course of a few days prior to riding anything…and I don’t ever ride TOT or GoTG or FOP etc. I can get queasy on Remy and SDMT and the original Star Wars…I’m very prone to motion sickness I guess.

Didn't know where else to put this.

So for a while, we thought an extra 50 points for VGC might be enough for us. But then we figured we'd rather have closer to 100.

Which means, of course, a 50 pointer showed up in our UY. 😁 I really hope someone from here grabs it just so I can see if Disney takes it back or not.

I’m confused, are you saying you found something good there?
There was something good, not good enough for me to take the leap though. I was really really hoping it was a Subsidized Aulani and just not listed that way. Nice thing about Vacatia is you talk directly with the seller. It was actually a fair deal non sub and would've been an incredible deal if it was a sub. After speaking to the owner it was not a sub contract and she actually ended up selling after talking to me and at that point it had only been listed less than a day.

Waitlist just came through for Boardwalk view in November. Swapped our VGF reservation to BWV at the 7 month mark and set up the waitlist with zero expectations of it coming through. Few weeks later and we got it. Frickin sweet! No extra points for that view over the garden/pool view is a great deal. Looking forward to our first BWV stay. This concludes my useless post.

Enjoy - we got back a few weeks ago and the view is worth the hype!!
