Totally unrelated to current conversations but didn't know where else to post about my current withdrawals.

In March 2023, we started on the process of our first DVC contract (VGC.) Then almost 1 year later, in February 2024, we started on our second contract (BRV.) Followed by our 3rd (also BRV) in April 2024.

So it's now early 2025....and I'm wishing we could get more points! Seems weird for it to be this same time of year but not to be looking for points. We don't need anymore points at WDW at all. We would like 50-75 more points at VGC. But we never see contracts that small in our use year. And honestly, we don't have the extra money for it at this point anyway...so it's probably best if no contracts pop up.

But I'm still feeling some weird anxious-adjacent feelings or something since I'm not in DVC buying mode right now.

Anyway, just wanted to vent here about it since I know some of you will definitely "get" it.

Are you keeping an eye out for VGC 1BDs @ 7m?

You know…. there is a $20pp incentive for VDH at 100 points and you might get an extra Disney Visa or D23

I honestly don't know if I want the hassle of having to wait and try to switch from studio to 1-bedroom at 7 months. I feel like it would stress me out. And then if we can't switch, I'd have 100 points that I basically can't use since we only go once a year-ish.

Why would you “switch” at 11m?

Wouldn’t you switch at 7m using BRV points to add to the VGC studio you booked with home resort points?

This happens to me in February because the weather is terrible, it’s 15° this morning, when was the last time the sun was shining… my addonitis is currently: if I had 50 more blt points I could be in a 1 bdrm the whole week of my January trips. Spending $$ would cheer me up

Wouldn’t you switch at 7m using BRV points to add to the VGC studio you booked with home resort points?

I like booking at 11 months and then not worrying about it again.

I've been so fortunate to book a 1BR at VGC twice despite not owning there. Next time we go, I'm aiming for a 2BR! Ha!! Probably not going to happen, but I'll give it a shot.

I waitlisted a 2BR there at 7 months once. It took 6 months but it came through right at the 31 day mark. If you're willing to wait there's a lot of activity at that mark and in the final few weeks.

In addition to waitlisting, you just check in to see what availability is from time to time and be ready to make a decision quickly if what you see is available.

Have already done so while buying resale , now again ? (I guess that’s what I will actually do… anxiety will come find my when I am waiting and not acting)

I managed to get a transfer of 100 VCG points for a very reasonable cost this year. Wasn’t prepared to play the treasure hunting game as I need some specific nights for next summer… looking forward to trying it out!

Nope. Just the handful I transferred in. I toyed with the idea of trying for VDH at 7 months, but we will be tied to specific flights (en route to Aulani) so needed the 11 month priority.

I feel that treasure hunting is when you have your home resort booked and then use less expensive SAPs to upgrade.

So, for example I used BWV home resort points to book a garden view 2BD and then upgraded with lower cost SAPs to a BW GV at 7m.

Or… I had a VDH studio booked (with MBB BOGO OTUP!) and then used SAPs to switch to a VGC 1BD when it magically became available.

Or…. my airlines changed my return flight from 8am to 8pm and so I used SAPs to add an extra night to a reservation inside of 7m so I’m not homeless from 11am to 5pm.

It’s moving the dopamine hits from buying DVC points…. to using the DVC points!

In our case it would have been booking a non disney hotel and then hoping for the best on DVC availability!
