So I just printed out our boarding passes for our SW flight tomorrow. I purchased the EB check in. We got A 41 42 & 43!!!:sad2: In previous years (Before the eb check in was around) A 20's was the highest boarding # I have ever gotten!!! I guess it's a whole different ball game now :( so does anyone know what kind of seats we have a chance of getting with these #'s??? I am feeling like I just should hv checked in at the 24hr mark and saved the $$$.....

You are in the first boarding group, early bird checkin does not guarantee an "A" boarding pass, as explained on the SWA site. You should have a very good selection of seats. http://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/faqs.html?topic=boarding_school

Anywhere in the A's you will have your pick of seats so don't worry about it. I've been at the end of the A boarding in the 50's+ and still got a good choice of seat. You might not be up front but you will find a good seat.

They way they say it is A = Aisle seats, B = Windows, C = Center.

I was on a SW flight last week with an A54 boarding pass that I got at the 24 hr mark and there was plenty of seats in the front of the plane and the back half of the plane was empty!
Seats will not be a problem. :goodvibes

We do EBCI every time we fly. We used to get A20's, but now we usually get 30's and near 40. PP's were correct- anyone in the A's are ok- you will have your pick of seats. In August we had A35-38, and when we boarded there were many exit aisle seats left. My DH sat there!:thumbsup2

Don't forget that a certain number of "A" seats are now reserved for Business Class tickets. It's been my experience that these spots will remain pretty much empty, so the first actual person boarding might have A20 or A30.

A1-15 are reserved for business select.

There are usually 130+ seats on a plane. The first 15 are business select tickets. The worst possible case is for all of those 15 to be full. In reality, on a trip to Orlando there maybe none. If the first 40 people are all single passengers that means they will take no more than 20 rows of only one person on each side. There are more than 20 rows, so all three of you will get a single row.

I am A-List+ and I have boarded in the low 30s. When I was just A-List I have gotten B5. Both of these get seats before the early birds and the 24 hours people.

Well, if you're not happy with the bp group/numbers you got, can you imagine what you would have been given if you hadn't done EBCI???

Seriously....anyone in the A group is going to be fine finding suitable seats...unless you 'have' to have the front row or an exit row. Other than that, you should have no issues.
Even those in the early to mid B group are fine. And I have seen pairs of passengers board in the C group and still get seats together.

yes I was thinking that...what if I hadn't done it....I guess I am just stressing and thinking of how it was in the past...thanks I am feeling better after reading that all of you got good seats. I really just need 3 together...I would LIKE not to be in the back of the plane, now I AM glad I did EB for when we leave disney it seems very convenient.

I'm sure it will be fine. Last year we had A57, 58 and ds had A60 (added his seat to the reservation later and I checked in manually online), which is the back of the A group. There's 60 in the group and we had no problems. We got seats together. There were plenty of empty rows when we got on and I got the row I wanted.

I got EBCI for the trip home because I would not be near a computer at the 24 hour mark and granted our spots were in the teens then 17, 18, 19, but honestly I have flown Southwest multiple times and believe anywhere in the A group is okay. The plane has over 150 seats on it. We have a flight booked on 10/26 and I have EBCI for the same reason…won't be near a computer at the 24 hour mark.

The thing is everyone can purchase EBCI and like someone else said, it doesn't guarantee you A group. Also, along with the business class passangers, according the website, there is a time stamp when you purchase ECBI and the spots are assigned according to those time stamps, so it's probably as fair as it can be.

Seems a lot of people choose the front of the plane or an exit aisle seat. Can you tell me why these are preferred over the rear of the plane? Just wondering, I've only flown a few times and I'd like to get the best seat come November. Thanks!!

Reason is is quicker access to get off the plane first if your at the front compared to the back. I prefer aisle because I don't have to climb over people in order to go to the lavatory and don't feel as crowded.

Also on SW planes rows 1-10 on the left side (right side when sitting down) has about 1" more leg room. :)

Those are actually good boarding positions and you'll still have your choice of seats. More people do EBCI now so you are more likely to see "late A" boarding spots or even B's. Had you checked in yourself at the 24 hour mark, you'd be even further back. Supposedly SW checks in the EBCI customers in the order in which EBCI was purchased - the earlier you purchased, the sooner you are checked in at that mark.

Last week flying back from Vegas we had B-4 & 5 with EBCI. We had purchased the tickets in mid June with the EBCI.

On the flight to Vegas we had A-34 & 35 with EBCI.

No problems either way with finding seats.
