I was so sorry to read that you had a death in the family. My prayers and thoughts go out to you and your family.

I enjoyed your thread and thought it very funny that on your last day that mousekeepers came at the crack of dawn to clean your room :sad2:

Thank you for your kind words! :goodvibes

Glad to hear you are back safe and sound, Rosie!
You are going to love Bubba Gump's and as far as desserts, I only had a few and one was a chocolate cake that came in the glass container it had been baked in and was topped with raspberry coulis, fresh whipped cream and fresh raspberries - it was .....:cloud9:
Some of their desserts are HUGE!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, but I haven't had dessert there recently - Cinnabon is opposite and their "center of the roll" strongly pulls me in! ;)

Day 6, February 24

Rides and shows, run Forrest run, and lots and expensive shopping - Part 6

When we had first arrived I had had a look at the new Dooney and Bourke bags and now was the time to decide and pick one up.
So we parked our car, walked over to the World of Disney and picked up a few more items we wanted to take home before we headed to the section where they kept the D&B bags.
I was torn between two of them and asked the shop assistant to let me have a look at both.
I really liked both designs and Tom encouraged me to take them both,

IMG_9941.jpg

IMG_9938.jpg

then urged me to have a look at the wallet they sold there too. Once I had opened it, I really liked it, a large compartment for coins, lots of little slots for Credit and Company Cards, perfect. How much can a wallet be, so I decided to take the wallet as well, without even asking for a price.

IMG_9944.jpg

It turned out the wallet was as expensive as the more expensive one of the bags I had picked, but hey, once I had made my mind up I was going to buy it.
Thank god for credit cards. Loaded with more goods we made our way back to the car and to our resort, but wait!
There was still the question of where we would have dinner. We both didn’t really feel like going to another restaurant, so why not pick up a few salads and some more tortilla chips and come back later to Downtown Disney to pick up a sandwich from Wolfgang Puck’s Express.
So instead of driving right to our resort, we went over to Publix, picked up a few more snack items and then finally went back to our resort. Who would have thought it, but when we finally arrived there around 7pm our room was actually cleaned and made up.

Yippie! Time to mess it up again.

We dropped all our purchases on the floor near the sinks and fell on the beds. Both of us were tired and before we did anything else, we just relaxed on the beds for a few minutes. We watched TV and nibbled chips and forkfuls of salad for a while, then I started to pack some of the things we no longer needed and finally around 9pm we went out again to drive over to Wolfgang Puck’s Express to pick up some very late night dinner.
On the way there we decided to not only pick up a sandwich from Wolfgang, but to get another sandwich from the Earl of Sandwich. So after we had parked the car, we walked over to Earl of Sandwich and ordered

IMG_9948.jpg

The Earl's Club - roast turkey, smoked bacon, Swiss cheese, lettuce and tomato and after we had picked it up we strolled over to Wolfgang Puck Express and got a

Pesto Chicken Salad Sandwich - romaine and plum tomatoes, with a side of house made chips. It didn’t take long for our order to arrive and soon we were on our way back to the resort for some late night nibbling. Once we had finished our feast, we cleaned up, watched a little more TV and turned off the lights around midnight.

While the bags are nice... ya know what sold me on your last update? The food!!! Yum!!! I have to go eat... I may ruin my keyboard drooling. :rotfl:

Rosie, I love the striped bag too, but this is a fabric one and I really want to keep it "clean" so I have to think as to when to use it.
I really hope you get to eat at WPE next months - may I recommend the salmon? It was delish!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

Okay, you totally sound like me. I have a purse problem for sure and I would have done the same thing! :lmao:

I am much more in control towards the beginning of a vacation, but since it was really going towards the end I just thought "what the heck" and got both of them!
There are so many things we cannot get here at all, so shopping is a huge part of any US vacation - I wish we had a Disney store somewhere closer than over 1000 km away! ;)

Oh, we were quite pleased with our room FINALLY being made up! ;) Even though we were laughing it off, it started to get quite annoying. :sad2:

OOPS:rolleyes1 Sorry:flower3: Looking forward to your new thread so I'm heading there now to subscribe:woohoo:

No problem!
You knew where to look for the rest of it! And I am very happy about that! :thumbsup2

Day 7, February 25

Call of the wild and Mater calls from the pool and yummy desserts are calling our name - Part 1

The last full day of our vacation had begun. We had an early ADR at the Maya Grill and therefore got up pretty early, got ready and walked over to the Maya Grill by 7.40am.

IMG_9957.jpg

It was picture perfect outside, warm and only a few little white clouds in the sky. When we walked over it was quiet and the resort was reflected in the lake, so peaceful.
We arrived at the restaurant just in time for our ADR and were led to our table right away.
Our server was on hand immediately and went to take care of our order for drinks, while we had a look at the menu and decided what to order. A few minutes later the server returned

IMG_9959.jpg

with a pot of coffee and a cup for Tom and

IMG_9958.jpg

IMG_9960.jpg

some hot water and a box full of tea to choose from for me. He then took our food order. Tom wanted to try

IMG_9965.jpg

the Kobe Brunch Burger - American style Kobe burger topped with aged Vermont cheddar cheese, crispy bacon and one egg over medium, served on a freshly baked artisan bun and a side of breakfast potatoes. My first food choice for the day were

IMG_9961.jpg

the Eggs Benedict - served with premium Canadian bacon, poached eggs, Hollandaise sauce and

IMG_9967.jpg

Seasonal Fruit Cup. Breakfast was very good, service was perfect and we were surprised the restaurant was more or less empty.
Once we had finished our breakfast we walked through the store one more time, but didn’t find anything we still had to buy. So we walked outside again and since it was such a wonderful day we took a leisurely detour back to our room. There were several hammocks which invited you to stay and relax and that was what we did.

IMG_9968.jpg

It took a while until we returned to our room to pick up our park bags and there again was no way we would make rope drop. We got into our car, drove over to the Animal Kingdom, parked the car and since the tram had just pulled out we walked over to the park entrance.

IMG_9972.jpg

There were Photopass photographers around and we had a few more taken, then walked through the turnstiles and over to Expedition Everest to pick up a Fastpass. Once we had the Fastpass in hand we got in line as the wait was only 15 minutes. We love to ride in the front row and Tom asked if we were allowed to do so and had to wait for another train, but then it was our turn.

IMG_9992.jpg

IMG_9994.jpg

The ride was a lot of fun and once it was over we walked over to the Safari.

What a view!!! And YUM on that burger. I has me wondering if I should eat there too..... oh so much food too little time. :sad2:

Oooh Karin Eggs Benedict!!!!I ordered them at Perkins in Cedar point last weekend , the first time since out DC Meet last summer !!! While Perkins were good nothing compares to those ones we had in DC!!!Remember Liessa !!!!

The resort was picture perfect in the morning, if only our room would have been picture perfect before 6pm! :rotfl2:
Breakfast was absolutely amazing that morning - very fresh, cooked to order, Tom's burger was a perfect medium and the atmosphere was phenomenal. We will definitely return, even if we don't stay at the resort. :thumbsup2

Oh Rosie, they were amazing! Soooooo good and Tom's burger was wonderful too.

Day 7, February 25

Call of the wild and Mater calls from the pool and yummy desserts are calling our name - Part 2

The ride was a lot of fun and once it was over we walked over to the Safari. There were two reasons we wanted to ride it. One was that we really like the ride and the other was that we wanted to look out for the new additions of the Wild Africa Trek and see how the blended in from the other “side”.
When we got in line the line had already grown pretty long and it said 30 minutes. We snaked through areas we have never seen before, but the line moved surprisingly fast and we were soon seated in one of the Safari vehicles. Off we went

IMG_9974.jpg

and we were lucky again, as there were lots of animals along the Safari route

IMG_9980.jpg

and it was fun to see people of the Wild Africa Trek from the Safari.

It’s unbelievable how well they blend in with the scenery and you would never know they are on a tour through the park. Seeing the trek vehicle, some people crossing the rope bridge and the outlook brought back so many fond memories. Far too soon the ride was over and we had to disembark again.
We were still holding the Fastpass for Expedition Everest, so this is where we went. On the way there we took a biological break and got a bottle of Diet Coke to share as it was hot and we needed some fluids.
On we went over to Everest. Once we got there we picked up another Fast Pass for Everest, as the return time was only for an hour later. There was quite a standby line and we were happy to be able to skip the line and get into the Fast Pass one.
We quickly got to the loading zone

DSC_0110.jpg

and Tom asked if we could go front row and were allowed to do so and get on the next train out.

IMG_9996.jpg

The ride was so much fun and we especially enjoyed the view. Once we got off we walked through the store and then we headed over to Flame Tree Barbecue for some lunch.
