Not ready yet???!!! A February trip report! Update 10/25 Day 9

I'm sorry the CM who checked you in was so rude! How very un-Disney! She was not follwing the second 'key to the kingdom' - COURTESY!

No, she definitely forgot about courtesy that day! ;)
I wish she could read what you all think of her! :rotfl2: I bet she would have another real grumpy day! :sad2:

Normally you'd think if people were "earning their ears" they would be trying extra hard to do a great job....they need to cut her loose now and cut their loses!!:lmao:

That food looked so good.....I love Disney food:cloud9:

I don't know what was wrong with her, but I think she just was that way - we came across her again and she didn't act any different!

I LOVE Disney food too - that's why I run a lot of Dining reviews! :rotfl2: This trip we talked a lot about the fact, that we no longer go for the parks, but the food! :rotfl2:
To us, so many things you all take for granted are great things to do when on a US vacation, like visiting Malls. We don't have anything that big here, so a day offsite being window shopping is a treat too! :thumbsup2

Wow, that CM at check in sounds awful. I can't believe she told you to check back once in awhile to see if your room is ready. How rude!

The food at POFQ looks fantastic. Another possible CS location to add to the list.

She was not a very nice CM to come across! I wish I could say we didn't cross paths again, but yes, we did! :scared1: :lmao:

We loved the burger, the cheese steak not so much. And can you believe it, but we have never tried the beignets there! :sad2:

You are killing me with the food pictures. I have just caught up on 2 threads and both have wonderful food pics!
That CM needed a swift kick in the rear. I hope your room is ready soon!

You are killing ME with YOUR food pictures! ;)

I wish someone would have kicked that CM's behind! She really had a bad attitude that day!
The room, well, that is a different story! :rotfl2: Maybe the title of this thread could be a hint! ;)

I hate to hear that the CM who checked you in was rude. Don't they realize that this is the start to your Disney vacation and it's supposed to be magical?

She definitely didn't understand what a Disney vacation was all about! ;) But at least she gave me an excuse to go to POFQ for lunch! :rotfl2:

Hi Karin,
Well that girl sounds like she was not meant to be in a position dealing with the public, some people are just not cut out for it. I bet she won't last very long.
Who knows maybe she is like that all the time, publice or not.
POR looks great, I am going to make it over there one of these days to have some biegnets with tons of powdered sugar.

I really hope, if she went on like that, that she did not last long. We are die hard Disney fans and can deal with a rude CM, even if we might not like it, but imagine a first timer coming across her! :scared1:

We have never had the beignets either! :lmao: But one day ........ :cloud9:

Oh my Goodness... I was in Disney February 19th-26th too! Exactly those dates! How funny. We stayed at Old Key West. I can't wait to start my trip report on it because it was SO fun, but I have to finish up my January TR first.

I'm loving your TR so far! I love love LOVE that you always take food pictures. It just makes the whole report! I can't wait to read more :)

Yeah! Same dates! It's a pity we didn't know beforehand, we could have had another little DISmeet! :thumbsup2

More food and adventures coming up - it was such a fun trip! Just had to deal with some real life issues, so that put a stop to the updates for a while. But on Friday I will start my Easter holiday and there should be lots of time for updates! :thumbsup2

Hi Karin! I missed posting after your Ice Cream treat - it seems the DIS turns off at midnight each night, and that's about the time I'm here. I'll try to hurry this time! Of course, I love the bags, and the Ice Cream looks wonderful! I'm hoping we will visit G's when we are in SF on our Disney Cruise next month!

Love the hat! Tom looks like a mad scientist in that one!:rotfl:

That CM was certainly Un-Magical  I hope things get better. When we checked into Disneyland Hotel a few years ago, we had the same thing happen. We had a wonderful, sweet CM who got me an autographed Birthday pic and an upgraded view in honor of my birthday, but she said our room wasn't ready and we would have to call back perdiodically to see if it was ready. I thought that was a little strange. :confused3

The DIS is down so often in the mornings (MY mornings ..... ;) :lmao:) and it is my preferred time for updates too!
You definitely have to visit Ghirardelli's in SF!!! I envy you so much of going there - it is one of our favourite cities!

Thanks for sharing your experience at DL - the call back thing IS a bit strange! If at least she had given us a time frame, but all she said was "just check!" :confused3
Well, we were at Disney, and that's all that counts! :thumbsup2

Karin I am enjoying the pics of CSR, since we are staying there a couple of nights before our cruise. We have stayed at WDW many times and I am used to some CM at the resorts being less than magical. Like you, we try not to let it set the tone for our vacation. I don't expect perfection from a WDW vacation and when it is perfect, it's like icing on the cake. I hope the rest of your stay was pleasant.

CSR is beautiful, Teri! There are lots more photos of the resort to come! ;)
We have had our fair share of "unmagical" CMs as well as magical ones. But after all the anticipation of getting to the resort it was just a slap in the face! :sad2:
We did not let it ruin our day, but it sure was a topic we talked about a lot!

Hello, my friend... Hope you're enjoying your weekend... or what's left of it, given the time difference. Its funny, we're at about the same places in our TRs. :lmao:

I did enjoy my weekend that week, Tina. But in the meantime, you have gotten far ahead of me in your trip report! ;) Real life, real life just got in the way! :lmao:

Just bumping this up!!

Thank you, Rosie!

Just checking in to see how your doing :flower3:

Doing fine so far! I am working on an update right now! :thumbsup2

Karin! I see how many reports you are writing concurrently (there's an English word for you! :goodvibes) I can't believe how many! Just checking in to make some popcorn! popcorn::

Thanks for adding another word to my repertoire! ;)

Sometimes I think I have too many! But there are so many fun Disney trips and so much food I wanna share with you all!

Update coming up!

Day 2, February 20

Friends, treats, a DREAM and finally a hotel room - Part 5

Once we were done in the shop we walked around the resort for a while and since it was already 2.30pm we walked to the front desk and asked which of the two numbers on the little card we had to call.

A very nice and friendly Cast Member did it for us and we were told that our room was not ready yet. :scared1:

We knew we needed to leave for Port Canaveral at around 3.30, so we decided to drive to Kissimmee and do a little souvenir window shopping.

At 3.30 we were back at the resort and since the card said that check in was any time after 3pm we were quite sure that our room would be ready by then.
Parked outside the Main Building again and walked in to the front desk.

Our “Cast Member friend” was still working and she seemed annoyed that we were back to ask about our room.
She looked at her computer and just said that it was “not ready yet” and to check back later.
I told her and the Cast Member who came over to help that now we had to take our luggage to Port Canaveral and that I would have preferred to leave it at the resort and her snippy answer was that they had bell services and we could carry it over there.
No thank you, we already needed to leave in a few minutes and we wanted to take Tina’s goodie bags which we had taken with us, so they didn’t have to carry them around, over to them.

Hopped into the car and drove over to the Cabanas to deliver the bags.
Tina and her family were taking a break and we chatted outside their door for a while and then it was really time to leave for Port Canaveral.

The drive was pretty uneventful and when we crossed one of the bridges we finally caught a glimpse of the DREAM.

The ship looked beautiful the way she lay there in the harbour. As every time when we drive to the Disney cruise terminal we missed the correct exit and had to turn around. We then drove close by the ship and took a lot of photos.

It was great to see people on the Aqua Duck and hear the music of the Sailaway Party.

Then we were on our way out to Jetty Park. When we arrived there we were surprised to find the area really crowded.

We had been to Jetty park to see off the Disney Wonder before but never had we hit such huge crowds. We were real lucky to find a parking spot right by the pier and got our cameras and headed out to the pier.

Quite a way down the pier we found a good spot and waited for the DREAM to sail by. It took some time until she left the cruise terminal and made her way up along the harbour.

Right when she was close to us they started to greet everyone with the ship’s horn, and not just one signal, no they went through quite a few of them. You could not say who cheered louder, the people on board the DREAM or the people on the pier.

We stayed until the ship was far out in the ocean

and then finally walked back to our car, loaded the cameras back in the trunk and started our drive back.

IMG_9580.jpg

The drive takes a little over an hour

IMG_9585.jpg

and by the time we were back we were really hoping that by then we would have a room.

Ooo...you're getting closer to me! I better get a new update up FAST! :lmao: Beautiful pictures of the Dream. Hopefully, I'll find out all about cruising next summer. 'Till then, I can look at your photos.

Thanks goodness for your trip report! It makes my wait for October seem less:hug: The Dream looks beautiful! I have pics of that beach at Port Canavral too. I had never seen the ocean before our first Disney Cruise. It takes your breath away:3dglasses

I want to go on a cruise sooo bad!

Would it be terrible if I put my hubby into a food and drink induced coma and when he woke up he would be on the Disney Cruise? Do you think he would be mad at me? :rotfl2:

Let me work on him...I think I am growing on him. ;) You could go with us in 2013 for our 30th anniversary.

Karin, great update...and the pictures are great. Gee, I sure hope your room was ready or I'll be complaining a lot when I get there in September for the treatment you received.

I cannot believe how rude that CM was to you....inexcusable!!

Those pics of the Dream are just that!! Absolutely gorgeous! I hope your room was ready when you got back:confused3

What a shame you had such a rude CM

I am sure once you saw the Dream it was all forgotten though :cloud9:

Your pictures of the Dream really made me smile this morning. I am sure you are itching to get on there and it won't be long before you can :goodvibes

I have to say yo uare making me jealous. We had rain when we sailed and it was much later than we were supposed to. I don't think they ever played the horn on the way out.

Still not caught up to you!
They chose the name for that ship pretty well, DREAM, that's what it is! ;)
I really hope you get to do a Disney cruise next summer - especially now that the Dream sails out of NY! :thumbsup2 :cloud9:

October will be here before you know it! :goodvibes It seemed like forever when we started our countdown and in a little over two weeks we will be in the double digits! Time has flown by!
The DREAM is the most beautiful ship! She looks like one of those classy ocean liners!

I want to go on a cruise sooo bad!

Would it be terrible if I put my hubby into a food and drink induced coma and when he woke up he would be on the Disney Cruise? Do you think he would be mad at me? :rotfl2:

You would LOVE cruising, Nicki! Todd CAN get mad at you? You are kidding me! He is far too much of a nice guy than ever getting mad! ;)
Hey, they DO have really GOOD food on those Disney ships - and lots of drinks too! ;) :thumbsup2

Great pix of the Cruise ship Karin and as for that CM:scared1:

Well, Lizzy is a story in itself! :rotfl2: Now I can laugh it off, but then I was pretty "unhappy" about her attitude. ;)
But getting to see the DREAM leave port made up for a lot of Lizzy's ways! :lmao:

Karin, great update...and the pictures are great. Gee, I sure hope your room was ready or I'll be complaining a lot when I get there in September for the treatment you received.

Yes, Kathy, that's a good idea, let's all work on getting Todd on a Disney ship! ;)

Our check-in treatment was so different from last year. You would not believe what an unfriendly CM can do to spoil the whole experience. :sad2: We love the resort, it is beautiful, but the thought of running into Lizzy again makes me shiver! :lmao:

I cannot believe how rude that CM was to you....inexcusable!!

Those pics of the Dream are just that!! Absolutely gorgeous! I hope your room was ready when you got back:confused3

That CM, Lizzy, was just so UN-Disney. :sad2: Walt would NOT be happy with her! ;)

We cannot wait to set foot on the DREAM! It is such a beautiful ship. And it shows that whatever Disney does, they do it right! :thumbsup2

What a shame you had such a rude CM

I am sure once you saw the Dream it was all forgotten though :cloud9:

You are right, Linda, once we laid eyes on the DREAM we were as happy as could be! We were even able to forget about Lizzy for a while! :rotfl2:

Your pictures of the Dream really made me smile this morning. I am sure you are itching to get on there and it won't be long before you can :goodvibes

Glad it made you smile! :thumbsup2
I paid off cruise no 2 yesterday and it makes me so happy, as I can do online check in and make my Palo reservations in just 27 days! :woohoo:
Only 128 days until we can finally sail on the DREAM! :cloud9:

I have to say yo uare making me jealous. We had rain when we sailed and it was much later than we were supposed to. I don't think they ever played the horn on the way out.

We had rain on our first Disney cruise too! They had the sailaway party in the atrium and I was not a happy bunny, as I had it all planned out differently. Needless to say I fell in love with it anyway and the last two cruises we had perfect sunshine. They did play the horn every time we left port though!
The first time we went, we were out on the balcony and the Wonder and the Carnival ship got into a horn battle. You could hear people cheering on either ship when it was their turn and then the Wonder played "When you wish upon a star" and you could hear the other ship go silent! :rotfl2:
There was no way they would be able to top that and the cheering on the Wonder was louder than ever! :thumbsup2

Day 2, February 20

Friends, treats, a DREAM and finally a hotel room - Part 6

The drive takes a little over an hour and by the time we were back we were really hoping that by then we would have a room.
Again we drove up to the Main building and I walked in and I got lucky, Lizzy, the unfriendly Cast Member was no longer there. :woohoo: :yay: :woohoo:

Another Cast Member looked up the information and finally, yippie, our room was ready.
It was just a few doors down from Tina too! Tried the keycard, it worked, yippie and in we went to find

……

another surprise!

bag.jpg

This time it was a goodie bag shock full with more snacks and treats from our friends Mary Ellen and Joe!

IMG_9598.jpg

So after going through the contents of our new treat bag,

California Oranges in Florida! :rotfl2: :lmao:

IMG_9955.jpg

which came in a super cute bag as well, we finally went to get our luggage into the room and then crashed on the beds for some time. But not before we had a closer inspection of our other gifts!

IMG_9602.jpg

The cute scarf I got from Tina, plus some really helpful Vera Bradley notebooks!

IMG_9588.jpg

And the gift bag we got from Nicki and Todd!

There was not much time to relax, as we had a dinner reservation at The Wave to go to. So after some rest we unpacked what we immediately needed, changed and got ready to get on our way again. Tina came over to drive to the Contemporary with us, as there were Extra Magic Hours at the Magic Kingdom and we were to meet there lateron.

Wow, thats alot of snacks! Did you take them all home or eat them there :lmao:

Everytime I go to Publix (grocery store) I crack up at the California citrus in Florida! I try to go to the local farmers market but they only have them in the winter and the prices have been so high lately!

Karin you have some great friends! My favorite of all your treats are the coconut Mickey's. I always get a box of those when we visit.

It was an aweful lot of snacks, thanks to some very generous friends! I have a red carryon and it was FULL of snacks when we left! :rotfl2:
We had quite a variety left when we returned home! :thumbsup2

We love to shop at Publix when we are in Orlando. I noticed that they do sell a lot of California produce there too! :rotfl2: But since Florida is kind of famous for its citrus crop it had me cracking up that they use California Oranges! They were pretty good though! :thumbsup2
