We went to Beaches and Cream too, that treat was from Ghirardelli's! Try a kitchen sink! They are great - literally!
You are getting so close! Can you still stand the excitement? Can't wait for your TR - this should be so fun!

Okay I confess I too have never been to Ghiraldellis or Beaches !!! I think I may talk the family into it in August!!! By the way Karin I will now be more rested for our Meet on the 19th, I'll tell you all about the Limo and show you pix !!!!!!

Those sundaes look really good. Would you believe we've only been in there once! And that was last year to pick up the Disney Queen of Food Porn some special candy that she requested.

You definitely need to go back there one day! The ice-cream is really good! And such a fun place to just sit and relax and people watch!

I love the D&B purses, you made some great choices. I always wanted a D&B purse, so I got one for my birthday a couple of years ago. I used only a month or so, because it is too heavy for me to carry. I loved it, but it hurts my neck. I do have a few Vera Bradley purses & will be using one at WDW when we go in Sept.

That's a shame your purse was too heavy, I love my D&B's. (as if you hadn't known that already! ) One reason why I love my Vera Bradley's so much is that they are literally unknown here and they stand out! I like to be a little different!

Hey Karin! I got the postcard you sent me during your trip and let me tell you, IT MADE MY DAY!!!

I've been sick for a while and getting that postcard.....it just touched my heart. Thank you SO MUCH for thinking of me during your trip and sending me this card! You are truly wonderful.

What a fantastic dismeet! And those scarves look so nice too. I put the pin you gave me at our dismeet on one of my school bags and it just makes me smile every time I look down at it at school. Just turns my day around when I think about you.

The meet was just wonderful. We had such a lot of fun! Watching little Max meeting the characters was the best!

Ghirardelli's is one of our first tastes of "America". We had chocolate and ice-creams there during our first visit to San Francisco. Ever since Ghirardelli holds a special memory for us!
I always end up with a lot of PP pics! So I can make "the most" of my photos!

We LOVE Ghirardelli's - well, I do more so than Tom, but then he is not such a lover of sweet treats!

These actually are the D&B's I bought at the end of the trip and I posted those pics earlier, so I do not have as many as it looks here!
But yes, I do own 5 pieces of D&B!

Yip, again, I ended up with LOADS of photopass pics, and this time they all were FREE!!!! I love it, if Disney gives me a huge present! (Okay, now if only they could come up with an incredible AP discount for September! )

Tom is feeling much better, thank you! Every year we take as many hat photos as we can - he makes a Christmas countdown calendar out of them and it is hilarious!

Rosie, you should definitely try Ghirardelli's some time. I think if you take all your family you could get an "Earthquake" - which is similar to the kitchen sink - HUGE!!! Or just share the real thing, a Kitchen Sink, at Beaches and Cream!
I did catch up on your thread, Rosie - the first night offsite and the Limo are a great idea! Can't wait to meet you in August!!!!!!!!!!

My husband being of Irish ancestry has always called it amateur night!! That's one holiday, that we do not celebrate. Not too many Irish around here!

Day 2, February 20

Friends, treats, a DREAM and finally a hotel room - Part 4

By then it was past 12pm and we decided to push our luck and try to check in at the Coronado Springs Resort.

The year before we had been intrigued by our friend Kathy’s report to stay there and indeed did have a wonderful time.

Early check-in and the room was ready, we were upgraded from a standard view to a “double” water view (lake and quiet pool) and had the best service.

So we had something to look forward to. Once we got to the resort we parked the car and walked over to the on-line check in counter.
One Cast Member was helping an unhappy guest and another Cast Member, who was earning her ears was looking at us, then back at her computer, glanced over again and NO we hadn’t vanished, so she waved us over to her. I handed her my reservation and she didn’t talk much, just repeated our information, then handed me a calculator with a number I could barely read and in a very unfriendly voice said, “That’s not paid yet!”

Um, yes, I know, but whenever I have a room only reservation I pay at check in and girl, you have my credit card information anyway.
She turned around and took care of my bill, then told us that our room was not ready yet.

Did we have a phone?

Yes.

An American phone?

No girl, we are from Austria, so our phone is an international one.

Then Disney will not call us, we have to call Disney.

Okay.

By then I was a bit annoyed with her and I asked if she could give me a time on when to expect that our room would be ready. She had no idea and said to just check back from time to time.
We were glad when we were able to leave the front desk and went to check out the resort store.

After we had seen everything there was to see and had cooled down from our front desk experience we thought about what we could do.

Why not go and have some lunch somewhere. Well, I remembered that the Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory at the Port Orleans French Quarter Resort offered one of the new designer burgers.
And since we had quite some time to kill we walked back to the car, got in and drove to Port Orleans French Quarter.
We walked right into the restaurant and there were only very few people.

After checking the menus we decided on ordering

a Cheese Steak Sandwich and

a Creole burger topped with crispy popcorn shrimp and remoulade sauce.

We picked up a bag of Disney tortilla chips and got two Diet Cokes before heading to a table near the windows.

The Creole burger was really nice, but we both didn’t really like the Cheese Steak Sandwich.
We nibbled on our tortilla chips and when we were finally done we walked over to the store to check it out. Once we were done in the shop we walked around the resort for a while and since it was already 2.30pm we walked to the front desk and asked which of the two numbers on the little card we had to call.

Now the question is ........ will our room be ready yet?

She definitely had either a bad day or some other problem. Now I can laugh about it, but right there and then ........ she really got to me!

And NO, I didn't know about Shrimp Po Boy at the Restaurantosaurus - we haven't made it there yet! As long as it was "McD" we steered away from it.

What a nasty little CM...doesnt she know that when you work at WDW you need to keep a huge grin plastered on your face at all time???

That burger has me drooling...I love shrimp po boys and I love burgers...and we are staying at the POFQ in May and Oct so I hope to try it soon!

Omigoodness what a horrible check in experience So sorry that happened, hopefully things got better after that.

Wow that Creole Burger looks good, have to try that if we can fit it into our plans. Is it very spicy?

FYI about the shrimp po boy at AK..the shrimp and such are very good but the bread wasnt great. I completely took it apart and made a shrimp salad out of it LOL
