Not Ready To Make Nice

I don't have my glasses on and am having a hard time reading, but I thought that you're not ready to make rice. I was wondering why you were making it at this time. :rotfl:

I couldn't watch the whole video...I was afraid that I'd get nightmares. :scared:

lol. not rice. lol

I think you can watch it and still sleep. Its not scary. I understand the meaning of the song, or at least I think I do, still trying to figure out the video.

I've watched it so many times i've got the song stuck in my head now.

Yeah, I don't know why it gave me the heebie jeebies. Maybe it's because I should have gone to sleep a few hours ago, but couldn't sleep. :headache: Or I'm just weird...more likely the answer.

still stuck in my head. That's what you get for watching it over & over before going to bed.

I ADORE that song. It's a big screw you to George W. Bush. It gives me peace.

Not Ready To Make Nice lyrics

Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I’m not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I’m still waiting

I’m through with doubt
There’s nothing left for me to figure out
I’ve paid a price
And I’ll keep paying

I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell and
I don’t have time to go round and round and round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should

I know you said
Can’t you just get over it
It turned my whole world around
And I kind of like it

I made my bed and I sleep like a baby
With no regrets and I don’t mind sayin’
It’s a sad sad story when a mother will teach her
Daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger
And how in the world can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they’d write me a letter
Sayin’ that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over

I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell and
I don’t have time to go round and round and round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should

I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell and
I don’t have time to go round and round and round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should

Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I’m not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I’m still waiting

That's the song that my cell phone plays. It's what I wanted to tell the year 2007.

I think it's more a finger pointed in the direction of the country music industry, and the radio station owners in particular. They were the ones who told the Dixie Chicks that all they needed to do was publicly apologize to Bush, and the stations would play their music again.

I don't think that Bush ever personally asked for an apology from them.

I'm just going on what she said on the Dixie Chicks True Hollywood Story. She said it was directly pointed at GWB. The apology part may be to the radio stations but Natalie said the song was directed at GWB. :confused3 Either way, I love it:thumbsup2

There was actually a Dixie Chicks documentary about all the stuff that happened when she made the comment about Bush. I knew that they had trouble with the radio stations but had no idea that it was as brutal as the group receiving death threats!

I believe (from a commentary on the video that I saw) that the black really does represent oil and the Iraq war plus they show a lot of her backbone and possibly removing her backbone etc. I think not ready to make nice covers Bush, their critics, their former fans, the radio stations, etc.

Great song and video (and I'm not a country fan).

To me, that song has always been a slam on the entirely childish fight between the Dixie Chicks and Toby Keith. Both of them should realize their 15 minutes of fame are up. I can see the comment about GWB, but there is more to it than that. It's against Bush, the entire country music industry and TK. Either way, the behavior of the DC and TK throughout the entire controversy to me was childish. I disagree with the DC in what they said, but ya know what? They have the right to say it just as any other. But they did not have to argue back with Toby Keith, who should have been the first one to keep his fat mouth shut. Had it not been for him, the whole thing would have fizzled out. He chose to stir up more junk and blow it all out of proportion. Instead of handling it all with big girl panties on though, Natalie wore a crude shirt on the country music awards. That truly was their downfall, not what was said before. You can over look dysfunctional members of a family (as country music is full of), but you can't overlook it when 4 family members can't just agree to disagree and instead act like babies.
