Dixie Chicks are in my top 5 ~~ I took DD to Boston to see them two years ago during this tour and it really opened up alot of political and other subjects. Goodbye Earl started the conversation and we never looked back. Before the concert we listened to the two cds I had and I explained the lyrics to as many songs as I could. These girls got a bad rap, but when you "talk without thinking, it's like shooting without aiming"

Love that song! Actually I've always loved all their songs. I think what happened to them, and the way they were treated was shameful. It was really the very worst side of our country. I'd say one of those rare times, I've truly been ashamed of our country.

Clear Channel and Toby Keith really showed what they were made of and it really wasn't pretty. I avoid both of them now and forever.

I try to look at it as not WHAT Natalie said, but instead that she had the right to said what she felt, and people were trying to silence her because it wasn't their view. I like the song for the melody and message of principle. You can apply that message to other situations; not just what happened to the Dixie Chicks.

Actually - I really don't like ANY of their music at all.

I'm also pro-military (DS going into USAF 8/26 ) and Republican to boot but isn't it all about our rights? Right to express ourselves? I might not believe in every message the DC sing about but they have proven themselves to have a "set" and besides, I've always liked the rebel in them!
