I saw the pictures this morning and Chelsea looks glowing and gorgeous ~ just like a bride should on her wedding day.

Hillary and Bill look very elegant, too.

I hope it was a wonderful day for her and her husband (I mean Chelsea and Marc lol).

I am not familiar with Jewish wedding customs and maybe this is one, or maybe it something else entirely, but: What is the frame with the black scrolling in one of the photos?

Did anyone else read the CNN story a week or so ago, about the other Rhinebeck bride on Saturday? Two Bard (?) grads had planed thier wedding 2 years ago for the same town, same day. If the Clinton wedding was going to happen, roads would close and guests wouldn't be able to get to their wedding, or reception. She and and her mom were so wrried and the police wouldn't cooperate in telling her what to expect. I haven't found a story on what happened to the other couple.

The ketubah is the Jewish marriage contract between groom and bride. It sets out the legal requirements for a Jewish marriage under Jewish law. It is signed before the ceremony itself, as part of the "engagement" ceremony. (There is no prohibition in Judaism to seeing the bride before the wedding. In fact, Jewish law requires it. As part of the ceremony, before going in to be married, the groom sees the bride and he is the one who covers her face with the veil. This is based on the story of Jacob in the Bible, who was tricked into marrying the wrong sister (Leah) rather than the one he loved (Rachel). The veiling ceremony is done to ensure that the groom is getting the right wife! I don't know if Marc and Chelsea did this part.)

I, too, was wondering what happened to the other bride!

Bill is looking rather old though...isn't he just in his early 60s. I recall him looking quite youthful.

While not a fan of her parents, Chelsea seems to have a really good head on her shoulders and she looks beautiful. Part of that is because of the way she looks for her wedding, but an even bigger part of it is from what certainly appears to be a deep, genuine love for her new hubby. I love that second picture the OP posted. The way they're looking at each other is so very sweet. I wish them much happiness.

In that first picture, I think Bill is probably trying to just hold it together!

One of the best parts of this, as far as I'm concerned, is how little the national press has focused on the interfaith nature of this marriage. Fifty years ago, this would have been considered a scandal. Twenty-five years ago, it would have been considered a "statement". Now, it is rightfully just a footnote.

Excellent point and I couldn't agree more. It's barely even a footnote, because until I saw the pics I didn't even know he was Jewish. Should his name have given it away? IDK. I'm bad at stuff like that!

Saturday's other Rhinebeck wedding was guarded by the groom and four groomsmen, dressed in black suits with swords strapped to their waists.

They greeted a reporter who stepped onto the grounds to see whether Haddad-Friedman, a Brooklyn teacher, had any pre-wedding jitters.

"We're not interested in any interviews, thank you very much," said the groom, Alex Bero, 28.

A couple of weeks ago, Haddad-Friedman, 28, had expressed concern the Clinton wedding would interfere with hers, held on the ground of a historic house just 10 miles away.

Guests who arrived in the early afternoon for the 4 p.m. nuptials said that despite the bride's fear that security for Chelsea would cause traffic jams, they got there without any problems.

"I think she should be glad Chelsea chose the same place," said the bride's uncle, Dan Haddad, 57. "It shows she had a great idea."

But Brad Dana, 27, who went to nearby Bard College with the couple, was annoyed the Clinton hoopla overshadowed his pals' big day, which was in the works for two years.

"The area has personal significance to us," he said. "The Clintons could have done theirs in Martha's Vineyard."

Bill aged during his terms, and so is Obama. I think Bush looked younger by the time he was done!!

Bill lost 20 pounds...5 more then Chelsea had requested.

Am I the only one who thinks it's sad that Chelsea actually asked her father to lose weight to walk her down the aisle? And if she only wanted him to lose 15 pounds, it's not like he was obese.

But even if my father were obese I can't imagine asking him to lose weight to walk me down the aisle.

I just googled it... came from Bill himself, apparently. That said - I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt and believe she said it with no malicious intent. And I'm confident that he wasn't offended or hurt or he wouldn't have put it out there for people to judge his much loved and adored daughter. More than likely it had to do with his health/heart problems. Or, it was said in jest. Or both. People do kid around with each other, and it really can just be in fun.

People choose to believe the good or they choose to believe the bad. I'm choosing to believe he was tickled by it or we wouldn't even know about it.

Perhaps it was recommended by his doctors, so she said that to give him incentive. I doubt she would say that if it wasn't good for his health.
