Not one but TWO scams in one day!

  1. The Halifax (a building society in the UK) sent me a letter saying that my interest rates were being lowered. Came with a QR code. Problem? I've never banked with the Halifax. My brother got an identical letter, from Lloyds Bank. Same signatory. Dangerous.
  2. Texts beginning with Dear Mr. [name in caps], you parcel from the Custom Print Shop will be/has been delivered today. Never purchased with them, they don't even exist on the internet. Apple Mail flagged it, warning against loading remote content. Really? Pathetic.

Annoying and scary!

I’m getting lots of scam calls that my phone flags for me. And the occasional pig butchering text. Scam attempts have certainly increased since scammers don’t have to go door to door anymore.

I receive emails about purchases and deliveries I haven’t made. I just delete them. I guess it just takes one or two falling for it for the scammer to make a profit. . .

I wish I only got two in one day.
Agree! Most end up in my spam folder but there’s easily 10 per day by email, a half-dozen phone calls, and a couple items in the mail each day. Rarely texts because I don’t put my cellphone number out there.

I got usps spam text yesterday. I knew I had nothing on order and the salutation was weird...way too cheerful. Apparently, this is now a common spam. Look before you click.

Yeah, my spam notes are arriving via email, not text or phone calls fortunately. The one last week was good enough to let me know that the current payment on my student loan (went to college 50 years ago) could be delayed until next year if I just verified to see that my account was up to-date. How sweet of them to make that offer. :joker:

But I'm getting enough of those emails now (like you guys ... USPS, PayPal, special deliveries, etc.) that I am seriously considering cancelling that email account/address, and creating a new one. I actually did that once 10 years ago and my emails were nice & clean ... until earlier this year it seems.

Apparently I buy Norton Internet security packages for $400+ several times a week. 😜

I also have many issues with UPS holding my undeliverable package. UPS texts me constantly about this. Oh no! 🙄

Apparently I have lots and lots of old friends all over the country because just about every day I get a random text message from some unknown area code that goes something like this:

Hey stranger, its been awhile. How are you these days?

My car's warranty is always expiring according to the calls I get. I don't even know how to drive.

Just for the record, Halifax Building Society and Lloyds Bank are part of the same group and have a common operations department.

Interesting.

At any rate, neither of us had any dealings with either society and when you searched for the letters on the net, they were red flagged as malicious mass mailings.
