not meshing with your planner?

I created a new username because I have a PJ and if I posted this under my actual username I might have even more issues!

I get the feeling that my planner doesn't like me. I know she's not supposed to be my best friend forever or anything... but she's rubs me the wrong way. She takes weeks to answer a simple question like, "can i use an aisle runner at SBP?". She told me that if I call her during the week she might not have time to talk so she would prefer if I scheduled phone calls with her. She also seems to not have any personality... or any sense of humor.

Is this normal? Everyone else seems to love their planner and mine seems to give me the cold shoulder on a consistent basis. I feel like I should at least get questions answered in a timely fashion... maybe I'm expecting too much? Am I overreacting?

Do you know anyone who has used this same planner? Or did she give you references? Maybe you could check with these people and see if this is normal.

If so, it sounds like a personality clash...you should be soooo happy during this time - not stressed! Is it too late to change planners?

If it is not normal for her, then there might be something going on in her life (work? personal?) that is keeping her from being as attentive to you as she should! And that is unprofessional - you don't deserve that!

It really shouldn't take so long to get back to you with an answer...even if she had a hard time finding an answer, or wanted to verify it, why couldn't she call to tell you she was working on it? I have planned a few weddings (probably not as many as your planner...because I have only done 3!) But I always felt it was the job of the planner to make things as easy for the bride as possible - not harder!

Hope things work out!

so tricky! i think, if it were me, i'd look up some posts on this person and if i felt i had a rapport with another disbride, maybe DM them and compare? i guess i might try speaking to the original wedding contact about changing if you felt really strongly? i'm sorry! that sucks!

This is a very tricky situation. It may be how your planner is, some people are not as outgoing or enthusiastic as others. What you may see as being cold, she may think is being professional. If it was just a personality thing and you think she will otherwise do a good job, like she knows her stuff and all that, I would say just stick with her.

I can see scheduling the call, I'm sure they are in and out of the office a lot taking care of things and it's probably to ensure that she's actually there and able to talk to you. Although it shouldn't take weeks for her to reply to your questions. Do you send questions to her assistant too? I find usually between the two of them someone gets back to me pretty quickly, but I asked my consultant so many questions that right now I don't really have many for my planner.

If you really don't feel that you can work with her, I'm sure you can request to change planners, but you may not necessarily get someone you like better. But you need to do what you think is best for you. I'm sure it will not be the first or the last time that it happens with DFTW.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I know what you mean I had to change planners cause I changed my date and the planner I had wasn't avaible that day so I got someone else and she was as rude as can be!! She talked to me like if I was a child!! I am young only 22. But there's no reason what so ever to speak to someone like that! So I called the first person you speak to can't remember what she's called. But she was soo nice and I told her that I wanted a new planner that if they wanted my business I wasn't going to be treated like that and I got a new one!! I hope everything works out for you!! :flower3:

I read all the wedding treads because my daughter is having a wishes wedding and I love the Dis boards and want to know everything possible. However reading this thread is making me a little nervous as my dd just sent in her contract and was given a planner. Hope she works well with her. Does anyone know or had contact with a Maxine? Also how long after sending in contract do you get AP's? Thank you all for all of the beautiful pics and advise.:thumbsup2

just an update AP's were rec'd a few days ago. :) she is very happy because she did not know she was getting them, nice!
