Not impressed with the current fastpass system

I believe its the Touring Plans app Lines that shows the status of Fast Passes (return time, whether its gone, etc). I'm thinking Lines may only be available on iPhone? Not sure. But to the poster you quoted (couldn't find the original post) - you'd also need a Touring Plans subscription. AND I wouldn't buy an iPhone for that reason alone - I didn't find the Fast Pass info on Lines to be all that accurate.

We used it last summer on a sprint htc phone.

Looks more and more like "more" FP's will be issued per day.

That can translate into longer FP Return Line wait-times and longer Standby Line waits, too.

I wish they would do what Universal does and give front of the line access to resort guest and then sell a few . I know it is not a popular opinion but if you want it bad enough you might have to change how you do Disney.

As I've posted before, this is what worries me. I'll be very disappointed if it gets to a point we think a 10-15 minute wait in the FP return line is considered fast.

While I realize that it is faster than a 60 minute standby line, the past couple of years in July, we almost never had to wait more than 5 minutes in a FP line. I'd certainly pay extra to make sure that remains the case.

A principle reason that it's not popular, is that WDW has tens of thousands more resort guests than does US/IoA.

The numbers don't work.

Robo is alluding to FastPass+, which will modify or replace the existing FP system. No verifiable details are known, so there isn't much more to say.

Yes, I think once that rolls out these lovely little fastpass threads will seem like small potatoes.

I agree. We knew about the old rules and allowance, but never took advantage of them. We always returned on time, never had a problem fitting in all of our touring plans, and never had an ADR issue. So... I don't get the problems either.

I've only been to WDW once but DL a few times (and never used FPs then!) and I just never understood why it is such a big deal, but then again I didn't abuse the system the first time and come accustomed to returning whenever. If a FP time didn't work with our ADRs we didn't take one!

What I would like to know is, would Disney ever explore a FP that allowed a guest to pick a return time? I mean the system now knows to pump out x number of FPs for time 1:10-2:20, so why can't it develop a system to allow guests to pick when they would like to return? :confused3

That system is currently being tested.

Neither did I, but we did return outside the window several times.

DGD wants to eat at 50's PTC. I called this morning and snagged a ressie for tonight. Well, we were in EPCOT, so I sent DH to pick up Soarin' FPs. Guess what? Yep, they are at the SAME time. pirate:

To put a sharper edge on this...

There is a new "system" in the pipeline.

Nobody here knows exactly what changes will be made,
but we know that there are going to be changes.

I can tell you that if this window enforcement is the first step,
I am not looking forward to the other shoe dropping.

And, yes, those of you who did not know that you could use same-day FastPasses after the end of the printed window...
and enjoyed how the FP system worked in the past...
and works now...
get ready...
because that, without a doubt, is about to be changed, too.

From different things I've read, it appears that a part of the new system may tiered in that those staying at the upper end resorts may get first choice or may even be the only ones allowed to participate in the Xpass at first. If this does turn out to be the case, the fireworks here will beat anything Disney can offer.

we didn't abusethe system either. we used it exactly as the Cms told us to, and used our fast passes later in the day.:cool1:

oh man!!! figures. some people will say "well, it's all about choices, you know" . OR "why didn't you plan better?" I say there is no reason you chould have to choose between snagging a coveted ADR and a FP to a popular ride.

And you know what to do, don't you? :confused3
BTW, you were able to get this very last minute ADR because Disney closed another loophole, multiple ADRs.

The word from ride CMs posting in these FP threads is that they are already issuing more FPs on a daily basis.

I'm sorry, you mean once again based on something, someone we do not even know nor heard about, said here, on fans site?
Not that number of FP even matter in a system we know nothing about but I like source. :upsidedow

You don't. You wait a few minutes longer and exchange it with someone else for one that is just a little later or you just wait until the time works and get one then or, and this is pretty radical here, you get in the standby line and go to the attraction that way. But, your right there is no reason that those two completely different things should ever overlap. What are they thinking? Didn't they know that you wanted both? What is wrong with them. Nothing in your real life ever overlaps.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. If someone says they work at Jungle Cruise and they knew they had increased the number of FPs issued as of 3/7, I have no reason to believe they're lying. Or why they would.

I think that's a pretty safe assumption even without outside confirmation. We already know they moved up the first return times. So at the very least, they are squeezing more in at the start of each day.

Plenty of reasons and you know it just like I do. We cannot rely on uknown source,.. of course unless it supports our argument somehow, then why not to give them benefit of doubt ;)...

Anyway, like I said, in a system we know nothing about it does not really matter. It can be used only for speculation, well, that is a favorite activity on Dis...
