NOT impressed with the Beach Club! Just back...

What kind of yummy stuff? Do they have sandwiches, fries, chicken nuggets, salads, pop... etc? Are there places to get those bites nearby? I'm thinking of a food court anywhere nearby.

I believe the lunch menu is somewhat limited but there are several stands on the boardwalk that offer basic fare as well. I.e. nuggets, hot dogs, fries etc... There also is the pizza window.

Agree 100%!!!!

Every deluxe should have a dedicated bus line, no sharing. Not with the rates that people pay to stay there.

I stay at Moderate or Value due to price, and we have never had an issue with buses, including at Value, and as others said, I would be pretty upset to be paying these prices for Deluxe and to get bad bus service.

That's good to know. Thanks! My kids are not into fancy food. They'll be happy with something simple, easy and fast. The love pizza! :)

To the people saying it is a waste of time to complain: I agree much of the time but it is interesting to read because it will effect where I stay! We are booked at the BCV through rented points so we are committed to stay there. Oh man this is making me nervous. I have never seen the resort in person so I am crossing my fingers we will like it! We are pretty relaxed when it comes to most things but the bus situation worries me. Most things I read about the resort are positive so I am hoping we will enjoy it.

If it's that bad, maybe you can go to Epcot front entrance and take the monorail to TTC and change monorail to MK. As for the AK, go to Epcot front entrance and take the bus to AKL and from there, you can take the bus to AK. For DTD, you can go to Epcot front entrance and take the bus to SSR, and from there, you can walk it to DTD.

Or probably the easiest and the fastest way is to take the cab to MK, AK, and DTD. Or have a rental car so you can come and go as you please.

Is it sometimes an issue? Yes. Is it enough of an issue to keep you away? No. The EP resorts are my favorites because of all the positives they offer. I think that knowing ahead of time that the transportation may take a little longer diffuses the frustration. It takes a little longer but I often will walk through Epcot to take the monorail on trips to and from MK.

You should be fine. It can depend on your park visits as well as timing. BCV eliminates a bus to 2 parks (sometimes 3 with MK)-that alone is worth it for us. We only do AK one half day and then bus to DHS so no bus back anyway. As for MK-we have taken the monorail from EPCOT, but the bus has been fine as well. Even over a week we only return from MK late maybe 2 nights-piece a cake.

Now if you plan MK every night (or AK) you may indeed get tired of it. Many resorts are a bus to every park-so every single time you return to your room its wait for the bus.

You would need a park hopper to go through Epcot to take the monorail to the TTC. There are direct buses from the front of Epcot to AK. However, walking through Epcot to take 2 monorails or a bus would be a bigger inconvenience to me than stopping at a few extra Epcot resorts!

Sorry to hear about your bad experience...

The buses concern me. Especially because we are planning on having breakfast at Cape May Cafe when we go in November and don't want to be waiting around all day for a bus to come take us to DHS after breakfast.

You don't need a bus to go to DHS from the Beach Club. Just take the boat or walk.

I'm glad the OP came on here to "complain" as some put it. This "complaining" sometimes gives others the info they need to make a decision on where to stay. I like reading the good and the bad on Disney Resorts. I know that I cannot stay at BC because of the limited CS. SAB, while it is tooted as the best on property, DS9 is not a strong swimmer and would not be able to enjoy the slide because we are going alone and I cannot be at the top and the bottom of the slide at same time:lmao:

Thanks OP for sharing your story and hopefully your next trip to the world will be better:goodvibes

We have stayed at the BC the last 3 summers. The bus issue is to AK or to Downtown Disney. To Epcot you get to walk (which is FANTASTIC) and you can also either walk or ride a boat to DHS. To MK we just share with the YC, you are picked up secnd for the MK and returning off YC is dropped off first but they are so close it is not an issue. We usually just drive to the AK when we go there. The pool is fantastic and the overall ambience is fabulous.

We are staying at the YC for the first time, in December. This is exactly the plan I have come up with. I'm glad an experienced BC person has validated my thoughts!

FWIW, my sis just returned from the BC and loved it- her best vacation EVER. (They had a car, though). I'm a bit more picky, I think. The only thing I have to compare it with is OKW, which was nice but not fantastic. However, as a person who has stayed off-site quite a bit, I feel that the premium I'm paying isn't actually for the resort, but for the location, so I'll probably be quite happy no matter what. :thumbsup2

Thank you for correcting me! I didn't know that they have bus that goes straight to AK from Epcot! That is good to know. Yes, you would need a parkhopper unless you have the AP. :)

Jade1,
Thank you for your post! We tour in a way very similar to yours. We don't find the buses a particular problem, because we've cut out two bus rides by just being in the Epcot resort area. Our days are much more productive that way.

I don't mind grabbing a taxi now and then. Sometimes it just helps make our plans work better, like dinner at DTD, for example.

I try to be generally aware where ever we stay, and plan accordingly. For example, we love AKL, but we find we spend too much time on a bus when staying there, especially for visits of 4 days or less.

Nearly every vacation I spend most of the last day resort hopping. I take mostly the buses (occasionally the boat or monorail) between resorts and parks, hitting my favorite gift shops, enjoying the various resorts. WL, AKL, GF, POR, and Pop are usually on the list. Add Epcot resorts if we're staying at POFQ on a trip. I can't say I've had a deal breaker day on my tour around the shops, ever. I enjoy it very much. :goodvibes

Queen Elinor, I hope you have a fabulous YC stay! :yay:

Hi
First off let me say we travel to Disney twice a year from Boston. We have stayed at almost all the resorts except for Grand Floridian and Poly.

Here's some of my complaints:*remember this is a top $ resort
-BUS SERVICE-why on earth when leaving Animal Kingdom and Typhoon Lagoon is there 1 bus for 5 resorts? (Beach Club, YC,BW,Swan, Dolphin)
-BEES-there were a ton of bees around the pool area-getting a drink from the soda fountains was a challenge
-Speaking of soda fountains-the marketplace is a joke-1 set of soda fountains? 1 toaster that has only 2 spots?-horribly slow service, too small for such a big resort-never mind basically NO seating???
-Beaches and Cream-great little restaurant if you want a 90 minute wait every time! We stopped 4 separate times on vaca, all different times of day and we always got the standard response 90 minutes-even though there are empty tables inside. And why in the world can't you order a No Way Jose (my favorite sundea-lol) in the to go line? Only certain icecream things are available
-Pool side service-1 waiter for the whole pool area??? This is Deluxe service???
-Life guards, attidues! They closed the pool mulitple times while we were there for thunder and lighting which is understanble and they wait 30 minutes before opening-ok get that but why after the 30 minutes do then the lifeguard staff go in and re-set the chairs, and clean the pool deck-people are sweltering and waiting in line to use the pool-let us in!!!!
Sorry had to vent-I thought we would of had a much better experience.

Just got back from the YC and totally agree with you on the bus service. We used a taxi for the 1st time at a WDW resort for DTD, TL and to get to the front of EPCOT for a couple of tours.

We might have just been unlucky, but we usually waited 20min or more for a bus to come, then with the multiple stops....40-60min to arrive at our destination. I liked the Poly buses much better, yes they share with GV/and or CR, but they seemed to come quicker and the route between the sharing seemed faster. Sometimes there was no sharing at all.

I agree that knowing ahead of time what it might be like can help. It seems that all times of the year people are experiencing different things with the buses and what someone might have experienced a week ago might be different for someone going next week. But at least it gives people different senarios of what CAN happen.

I totally agree about the limited CS at the Epcot resorts. We had a bad experience with the buses on our BC stay, but that isn't what has kept us from going back to an Epcot resort as we know what to expect now; however, it's the very limited CS options (breakfast in particular) that we don't like. We do a few TS breakfasts during our trips, but we don't like to do one everyday and since our DSs like hot breakfast items like waffles, bacon, etc., the Marketplace just doesn't cut it for us for a lengthy stay.

If you're on the dining plan, remember that Picabu at the Dolphin and some of the kiosks on the Boardwalk do not accept the dining plan.

The pizza window does, though.

We went over to Beaches and Cream this past Sunday night around 6:15 pm fully expecting to hear 90 minutes. To our surprise, he said, "About 5 minutes...wait! A table just opened. We can seat you now!" We were very pleasantly surprised. There were lots of people waiting when we left though. Maybe we timed it just right?
