NOT impressed with the Beach Club! Just back...

My family will be at the BC on Thanksgiving Day and am a bit concerned about the bus problem. I have waited for the bus after dinner at the YC and thought it was a long wait.

I agree that while the bus problem has been long-standing it is not acceptable. "It is what it is" just does not cut the mustard, Disney encourages guests to use Disney transportation so that transportation should be consistent and reliable.

We have been going to BC and BCV for years. I think the rooms have definately seen better times, the CM's are still pretty good but just not quite what they used to be. Maybe it is busier?

The buses have always been bad.

The marketplace isn't meant to be a QS really. It was always the gift shop and they added a little more with supplies for the villas, and then with the DP, well, now you have the food selection as it is today.

But the transportation IS consistent and it IS reliable. Do the buses take you where you want to go? If you get on a bus at DTD to go to BC, does it drop you at Port Orleans? Of course not.

The OP's complaint is that it takes longer than she thinks is reasonable, and is using what it costs her per night to stay at a Deluxe as a justification. For me, I understand how long the buses take. I know that I cannot change the busing system (and Disney doesn't seem to be willing to for the costs involved), so I choose not to partake of it and rent a car instead.

Guess who had a better time at Beach Club....me, or the OP?

Uh-oh... DH and I are staying at BWI this November. I've heard multiple times that the bus system is bad but over an hour wait in the rain seems a little much. (plus the additional 5 stops?)

Sorry for hijacking this thread... but does anyone know how easy is it to take a cab? Is the taxi line close to where the buses are? (generally?)

Completely understand the bus complaint. It took almost 2 hours to get from DTD back to the BC. And that was during the "slow" time in the fall. As stated earlier, we also stood and watched resort buses come and go but never on for the BC/YC. I dont agree with "it is what it is". They can fix the busing situation.
We would probably stay there again but rethink going to DTD.

It varies from resort to resort and park to park. They are usually within pretty close proximity. Easiest way at the resorts is to inform the doorman and they will get one for you. Usually takes no more than a minute. Each park has its own dedicated area.

It's not just the BC in regards to DTD Busing. I recall reading a post not that long ago from someone staying at the Contemporary Resort, complaining about how looong it took to get back to the CR from DTD, and seeing all the other resorts' buses but theirs.

I am sorry your stay was not what you wanted it to be.We always stay there and LOVE it.The bus situation is a valid point, and I agree, though we have never had any of the problems alot of people have encountered.Bees are not something they can control. The lifeguards at Storm along BAy are overly cautious and for good reason.Lightning can strike from miles away .The pool is a very large body of water, better safe than sorry.Maybe they wanted the extra few minutes to make sure. The marketplace was never meant to be a Cs, more like a grab and go.We refilled our mugs either there or hurricaine Hannahs.BEaches and Cream very often has waits. It is a teeny, tiny place and serves typical diner fare.People love it , the boards rave about it and its proximity to all the EPcot resorts and Epcot itself are guaranteed to make it busy. The To Go window stopped selling specialty sundaes and food items back when the dining plan got popular. We have noticed little to no wait at opening time for B&C..Anything like traditional mealtimes and after Illuminatons and it is PACKED.We had a party of 3 and waits were 30-60 mins.Larger parties would wait longer

Complaining about bus waits is, to me, tantamount to complaining about wait times for walk-up dining reservations at sit-down restaurants at the World. If you are aware of the inconvenience you can plan ahead, either by leaving enough time to be transported by said buses or find some other transportation.

Because I am on the DIS, I am in the know. That means I make my ADRs months in advance and I choose not to spend my Disney vacation time waiting for a bus.

If someone on the DIS went to BC and didn't know that there were 5 stops, whose fault is that?

I prefer the Epcot resorts and have begun to use cabs a lot more especially for ADRs at other resorts and to get to DTD. Otherwise I plan accordingly and don't get fussed over the buses. Not renting a car minimizes the cost of the cab for me.

It could not have been that bad....i mean its DISNEY. They always are great. I stayed at the BC last year and it was fabulous. But there is nothing you could have done about the bees. And the lifeguards did what they did for the safety of the guests. Stop complaining.

Actually, the bus does not always stop at all of the resorts. It has frequently been reported that the BC and YC do not share buses with the BWI or S/D. Simply stated, the bus route is not consistent. I can understand why someone like the OP who may not have seen both reports might feel misled.

Someone should not have to live on the DIS in order to enjoy their vacation. Plus, I hardly think that expecting an hour wait for a bus thanks to the DIS makes the actual wait any more enjoyable... or acceptable.

Hi

Here's some of my complaints:*remember this is a top $ resort
-BUS SERVICE-why on earth when leaving Animal Kingdom and Typhoon Lagoon is there 1 bus for 5 resorts? (Beach Club, YC,BW,Swan, Dolphin)

My experience has been that not only the AK bus stopped at all 5 places, but the bus to MK in the morning at 8 am (with a 9 am opening) also stopped at all 5 resorts. It was crazy crowded and took a looong time to get to the parks. Forget about deluxe service, this was worse than mediocre.

Re: your other points, we've stayed twice at BC/YC and have never eaten at BnC. Always crazy crowded. But, we find the location of BC/YC - so close to Epcot and Boardwalk - to be excellent for restaurants (all the World Showcase restaurants, plus Kouzzina and Flying Fish!). Just not great for casual restaurants at the resort. The Marketplace is just a little nook in a store and has very limited offerings. And I agree about the lack of 'service' around the pool.

The bee situation is difficult. It's not like they can kill the bees. They are so needed for our food supply.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience...

The buses concern me. Especially because we are planning on having breakfast at Cape May Cafe when we go in November and don't want to be waiting around all day for a bus to come take us to DHS after breakfast.

You take a boat to HS from BC.

We were at the BCVs 8/9 through 8/16 and have to disagree with some of the things the OP said. Can't speak about the CS at Marketplace since we had breakfast in the room. As for the drink filling station in the Marketplace we never had a problem and never had to wait to fill our mugs. Since our daughter has an allergy to bees (carries epipen at all times), we always take notice when bees are around and we didn't see anything out of the normal. Unfortunately they will congregate at the soda filling area since they are drawn to sweet and lots of spills do happen. The only way around that would be for Disney to post a CM there to constantly clean the area. As for the buses, we never had a problem. We took the bus to MK and it started at YC and after picking us up at BC went right to the park. Even on the way back it only made the two stops. We have stayed at BWVs many times and for us the buses were never a problem and even if they stop at the S/D first we just get off and walk and don't think too much about it. Guess I'm on vacation and that isn't going to ruin my day. This trip they actually had someone out at the bus stop in the morning with a computer and if a bus showed up and filled there was another on right behind it. We will be returning in Jan and next Aug. and can't wait. We love the Epcot resort area. We have stayed at all the monorail resorts and we much prefer the Epcot area.

There's not too much Disney can do about the bees. Disney rarely will kill any living creature and I'll bet there were bees at every single resort at Disney World. Not too long ago, lots of people were concerned because bees were mysteriously dying and no one knew why. If we don't have bees, there are a lot of things we won't have around anymore. Maybe you didn't see It's Tough to be a Bug and hear the song about how they are pollinators.

Sorry you didn't have the time you thought you would.

Isn't it honeybees that people are concerned about dying? I am betting they were something more like yellow jackets or some other kind of wasp. And yes, I think they could do something about them.

I agree with the OP and other here that the bus situation can be unpleasant when the bus stops at 5 resorts. Its ridiculous.

We spent 5 nights there recently and had a wonderful time. We really love the pool and the walk to Epcot. I must say though that I kept thinking how much less noisy and crowded it was over at the YC. And when we moved to AKL for the last part of the trip we were so relieved. Its so much more peaceful. The BC is lovely and I wouldn't have missed it for the world but its not for everyone all the time.

Yes the bus service is just awful. Worst on property of the deluxes. At least with SSR or AKL they send lots of busses to make up for the fact they aren't near a park. We just came back from The BWV, and I have stayed there many times before but this was just awful. We waited over a half hour most times for bus. I know there are 2 parks accessible, but for AK, MK & DTD it is awful and then to stop at all those stops and the buses are jammed packed. I have stayed at all the deluxes and this is by far the worst! We do take cabs (to DTD or hotels for dinner) when staying here or at BW because we love it but can't stand the bus service.

Other wise I love the location for the HS/EPCOT access and I love the whole area. I wish they would break up the buses! 5 stops is atrocious.
