Not Happy with Platinum Palo change on Wish....

So not this cruise, but the next, I will be Platinum and finally able to enjoy a perk. Gold Members were able to go to the special meeting. They had for Gold and above on all sailings, but that one left just as I turned Gold for 7 day sailings and went to 8 and up only.
Love the original buffet sad that it’s gone now. Didn’t like any of the entrées for brunch would I have enough to eat available if I didn’t order an entrée lunch? My problem is primarily dietary restrictions. I can’t have onions. I think that only leaves me a chicken thing that I can have.
So my question is if I stay within the brunch rules, what could I have?
I'm pretty sure they could make almost anything without onions for you. It might change the flavor a bit, but seems doable.

Yeah it was premade sauces that kept me limited so the chicken was all I could have. Maybe they had a pork thing but I don’t eat pork. Just hoping I could find a second option for my free meal. Premade items on the ship are my biggest concern. I’ve been given just a chicken breast with no sauces once on every cruise. Icky

Oh interesting. I get having premade sauces but I would think at Palo they could be a bit more accommodating. That's surprising given how great DCL usually is with dietary restrictions.

Yeah, I had forgotten about the menu and had the chicken a second time at Palo because of that same issue. They were literally the least accommodating of all the restaurants available. MDR made me a special sauce that had no onions that I used for the whole entire cruise, which was better than just plain meats or vegetables. I think one was an Italian sardine based sauce and another was a pepper sauce with butter and cream. I think I really couldn’t tell.

Brunch has omelettes, waffles, pizza, Pastries, steak, seafood starter and anti pasta. All should be without onions. I’ve never had a problem ordering Multiple items at brunch.

I’m exactly the same. I pretty much order the same meal now as I would order if it was still unlimited. I wish they would offer half portions of pasta still, and the antipasti tray was still complementary, but really those are two minor things and I’m still happy to go and use my credit every cruise.

I really don’t think brunch is as good without the buffet or as good quality food as dinner.
I miss the complimentary antipasti tray the most!

As much as you care to eat. Just ask about onions.

The antipasto should be onion free.

Any of the omelets other than tomato & onion. Those are easy to be sure to be okay, as made to order.

Soup is questionable.

Waffles - definitely okay

Flatbreads and calzones - most likely.

Parmesan Chicken
Wild Mushroom Ravioli
Red Snapper
Sirloin Steak

Bread and dessert

No onions seems so much easier than gluten and dairy issues. I figure anything cooked with tomatoes is likely to have onion or onion powder. Just verify. You may be able to order veal saltimbocca.

Bon Appetit!

My mom wasn't able to have onions and garlic and when we cruised, Palo brunch was her absolute favorite meal. She had a lot of great items!

But if I use my Platinum complimentary meal at Brunch, what am I allowed to choose? No more than 3 items?

You can choose from anything on the menu above. We picked one from each category, that is way to much food…lol

Yeah Palo went downhill big-time after COVID which was their excuse for getting rid of the buffet. We only go to Palo now because it's free for us for 1 meal otherwise I would not pay for it.

What do you think are the top choices from the brunch menu or what is most popular? And what are the time ranges for making a reservation? We have only done the dinner option before but want to try the brunch one of the days.

The Chicken Parm and Lasagna usually get really good reviews, unless you have ever had authentic stuff cause to hear the people who have talk about DCL's you'd think it is trash. I don't know that I've ever heard anything universally panned on the menu. They have seatings from 10AM to 12:30PM. Whatever you do, never and I mean never do both brunch and dinner on the same day.

Palo brunch seats guests from 10-12:30 pm on sea days and can take a few hours to eat depending on how many entrees you select. Chicken parm and lasagna are very popular and so is the off menu grape pizza. I also recommend the almond croissant. I personally love their ravioli as well.

Thanks for the info and recommendations. I do remember people bragging about the chicken parm, just did not realize it was a "brunch" item. Ok, grape pizza? Do you literally mean the fruit? That sounds really weird... but interesting at the same time. (I actually looked it up and I think you mean the Grape and Gorgonzola pizza?)

Yup the grape and gorgonzola pizza. It is really yum!

Ok, so if I order a couple of items at brunch and do not finish, will they let me "doggy bag" or take a to-go box back to the room?

Generally, no. But it depends on the server/manager on duty. I know some people have gotten a yes and some a no.

The grape and gorganzola pizza can also be a hit or miss proposition. We have been told no on one cruise and an enthusiastic 'OF COURSE' on another.
