Not happy with my Lowepro slingshot 100

Messenger bags are murder on my back too. I love the blue Crumpler $x,000,000 homes, but the look isn't worth the pain.

The Kata bag should hold that camera/lens combo with no trouble. I've had my D300 with the Tokina 12-24 (which is a fairly fat lens) attached, plus another lens or two and a flash, all in the camera compartment. That's a bit tight, but it works fine. As for squishability, the camera compartment has those padded thingies with velcro on them so you can rearrange the compartments. That part is somewhat rigid (maybe comparable to the Lowepro Slingshot). The top part isn't too rigid, so I think you could sort of fold that over and pack it that way. I'd go and try it, but I just crammed the whole thing full because we're headed home tomorrow after a month in Park City, Utah  (I hate when vacations end!)

Hmmmm...maybe I will try it then. I'd have to go the Ebay route. Ugh... I think I can open up a museum of camera bags.

:rotfl:

see i hate backpacks and love my messenger bag but i am taller( 5'7") so maybe that has something to do with it...
i would like more info on the toploader senecabeach mentioned, ie is it big enough to stick a couple cps/cokin filters in cases,my phone etc or would that be overdoing it..i have a tamrac messenger bag i love and use to hold all the stuff i use , the canon one dr zero has to keep the stuff i don't use in at home so now want one to take just for a lens or 2 and the body...which the toploader type looked like it would be great for....i like the yellow inside of the kata bags though since i constantly lose everything to the bag and have to unpack it to find the stupid lens cap or step up ring i just tossed in it so i "wouldn't lose it" but can't find it in the black bag:rotfl:

Happy to run across this thread as I just posted asking about recommendations
for a bag for myself. Thanks all. :thumbsup2

eta: lol @ NAS ... I think I may be in trouble then.

I just received my Kata digital rucksack from my seller on Ebay. It looks great. I get to test it out in a few weeks. It looks like if I take the padding out (I can put it back in and rearrange it later), it can be squished into my luggage.

This is the problem with me...I get so excited over new bags...it's like a disease. Maybe that's why I have so many of them.

what is the model number? is it the DR-467? that is the one i am looking at. I too am not happy with the lowepro slingshot.

I think it's the 465 (the one without a laptop space). I considered the laptop version but decided I just needed something for the camera...I got enough laptop bags too!!! (I told you...I think I have a bag fetish)
