He has contacts now! My boys look like babies!
Very impressive! I was twenty-five when I got my first pair of contacts and I was in the eye doctor's office a mighty long time trying to master getting them in myself. They finally gave up and gave them to me to try at home.

The dr was impressed that he could do it. He was always so rough on his glasses. Everytime we got them fixed, he would break them again. So when we said contacts the eye dr gave us a funny look & said "ooook". Koby has been doing wonderfully with them. He's had them a year now!

"Car loaded?" CHECK!
"Everyone went potty?" CHECK!
"Are you guys SURE you have everything?" YES LAURIE NOW LETS GO!!!!!!

That was pretty much the convo before we left the house. Our Christmas present was the resort tickets. My MIL didn't do a package on the site for some reason. I paid for our tickets & if I remember right it was around $400 for all 4 tickets.

So off we go, we are leaving Louisiana & driving to Tampa. Yep, Tampa, totally bypassing Orlando & Disney. Ben's cousin lives in Tampa & they had not seen each other in a few years. He had invited us to stay there before we could stay at our resort starting January 1, 2007. We stop around 2 am, I think in Marianna, FL to rest & we are back at it again the next morning. Don't remember what time we arrived in Tampa. Didn't really care. After seeing all the Disney World signs on the drive & not getting there immediately I was not too happy. And I have 2 days in Tampa before we even head to Disney! Well, Ben's cousin decides that he & his daughter, who is only 2 months older than Koby, Sierra would join us on our Disney day on the 30th. Great fine, let's just go. Then my MIL tells him that Ben & my FIL will both be doing the Richard Petty Driving Experience. Great he is a huge NASCAR fan. So my MIL decides that BEFORE we get to MK she will pay for him to do a ride along in Tony Stewart's car (his fave NASCAR driver). Freaking wonderful. I make a vow right then & there that I will never do a Disney trip unless I have planned it. This is cutting out of my MK time! So after a long 2 day wait, it is finally time to head to Disney!!!!! We wake up early, get dressed & hop in the car & drive to the Happiest Place on Earth! Enjoy the sights:

At this point I am screaming "I'M AT DISNEY WORLLLLLLLLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!' I am slapping Ben on the arm while he is driving, the boys are cracking up. Ben looks at me & says "If you hit me one more time....." I was jumping up & down in my seat. After 26 long years I have FINALLY made it! I could have cared less that we had to do the driving experience first now. I was HERE! Now continue to enjoy the sights:

At this moment, it all became real. I was REALLY there. And I saw this & just sat quiet & cried. I remember thinking, "Mama I sure wish you were here so I could call you & tell you that I am finally at Disney." Which made the tears worse. Then I see this!
jonisdisney013.jpg

And then the tears start again:

And yes, I got a pic of the parking stub!

Up next, I see the Castle for the First Time!

Oooohh! Lots of good suggestions/ideas for my upcoming first trip!

In all honesty, I'm most excited about riding Tower of Terror, everything is a bonus.

I got way behind so a few comemtns before I read what you just posted! :woohoo: 1st: I love those pictures of Shelby!! Ben is getting the shot gun ready....right???? ;) She is just absolutely adorable!!!

2nd: I love going down memory lane!! I can't wait to go back and read the past trip's post!!

And 3rd: My comments below on your NBD/DDLT list. I did not read the other comments since I am so far behind so hopefully some insight! :goodvibes

So here are a list of things that we have never done or didn't do last time because Miss Shelby was too scared.

Key code:
NBD: Never Been Done
DDLT: Didn't Do Last Trip

Magic Kingdom:
Walt Disney World Railroad-for me, NBD & DDLT Fun for a rest and if you aren't in a hurry; it isn't a must do, but I enjoy the ride!
Peter Pan's Flight-DDLT I like this one, but not worth a wait...only if I can do FP; it is mostly nostalgic for me!
Dream Along With Mickey-NBD, just took pics while passing by same here...
Snow White's Scary Adventure-NBD Shelby may get a little scared but I really like this one...of course I love Snow White too!!
Dumbo-DDLT Everyone needs to ride this at least once!! Get Shelby on Dumbo!! :rotfl2:
Winnie the Pooh-NBD, but I really don't care for %@#! bear If you don't like Pooh...tough call since he is all over the place! But I love this one, very whimsical!!Astro Orbiter-NBD Fun, but not a must do; DD was 4 and loved this ride! But we have not doen it since....not really sure why, no time maybe??
Tomorrowland Transit Authority-NBD ??? never rode
Carousel of Progress-NBD Okay, I personally love this one and misse it this last trip which was a bummer. I am not sure why I like it so much becasue it is a littel corny, but I just do!
Wishes-NBD Whatever fireworks show is at MK is worth it!! I have seen no one do fireworks like Disney at MK!!

Hollywood Studios:
Sounds Dangerous-NBD I hear to avoid; always down and I would not do anyway from the reviews!
Indiana Jones-NBD The boys will love this if they like action and there is a lot of cute comedy for the adults. I really enjoyed seeing this show!
Lights, Motors, Action-NBD Ditto above; if they like action and cars/motorcylces this is a must do!The Magic of Disney Animation-NBD ??? have not experienced
Fantasmic-NBD Ditto

Animal Kingdom:
Pangani Forest Exploration Trail-NBD Fun and you can go at your own pace
Wildlife Express Train-NBD ????
Habitat Habit-NBD ????
Conservation Station-NBD ???
Affection Section-NBD ???
Maharajah Jungle Trek-NBD okay 1st: Mike the YTiger is here!!! I know not really, but as soon as I saw him I could here the LSU band palying!! :rotfl: But also there are really cool bats! And the details are awesome! I love this trek!!Kali River Rapids-DDLT FUN! But be prepared to get soaked....no drenched!! I always will do last and remember to not wear white! :rolleyes1
TriceraTop Spin-NBD ???

Epcot:
Ellen's Energy Adventure-NBD ???
Honey I Shrunk the Audience-NBD My kids liked this one, I did not, but then I did not care for the movies that much either!
The Countries, minus Japan & America-NBD France: get the pastries, kids will be bored otherwise; Mexico; Morocco is really neat and you need to venture into the pavilion to really experience it! The kids can do the KidCot and get Passport Books which breaks up the boredom some!
Maelstrom-NBD I think this one is entertaining, not over the top exciting but funIlluminations-NBD ???

So what do you think? Are these must see, or did we do well by skipping them?

Maybe that will help some in planning!! Now I am going back and going down memory lane with you!!

Loved the 2006/2007 installment. I would have been just like you....why in the world are we passing up Disney World and not going right now?

Yeah "Cleanin' This Gun" is Ben's song lol

Thanks for the insight! It helps alot!

Yeah big disappointment to bypass all the exits!

Awww, I love your mini TR so far! :cool1: I would be freaking out if I had to wait 2 days to get to Disney after already being in Florida!

I would've been so so so ticked off if I was in the neighborhood and couldn't go to the parks :headache: When I went on my "solo trip" in 2006, I originally wasn't going to spend a day at the parks, since it was just a weekend trip and I was only down there for an interview. I wound up buying a 1-day hopper and hitting up DHS and MK :lmao:

Oh trust me I was! And before we even got to MK we had to do that stupid Richard Petty Driving Experience with Ben's cousin, so that cut into my time!

One of the many many reasons I like solo trips :lmao: Plus, I usually don't have anyone to "go" with. I just meet up with people down there :rotfl:

Had a few posts to catch up on.

Here is my two cents:
MK:
I would put peter pans flight, dumbo, and wishes on the must do no matter what list.
The boys would probably like going up to the astro-orbiter, but don't know that they would find it very thrilling.
Snow White's SA might scare a 2 year old, might would skip it til Shelby is older.
Dream Along with Mickey- good show, but IDK about in the hot sun.
TTA- nice relaxing ride. Like to do this at night.
Many Adv. of Pooh- love the ride, don't really know why cause I'm not a Pooh fan myself, do love me some Tigger tho.
CoP and the Railroad- haven't ever done myself

DHS:
Indiana Jones and Lights Motors Action the boys would love.
Magic of Disney Animation- I'd say the boys would enjoy it, especially if they like to draw, but I've never done it.
Fantasmic- yes, definitely. Love it.
Sounds Dangerous- never done, but never heard anything good about it.

AK:
Pangani Forest Exploration- gorillas up close, need I say more! I could watch them all day.
Maharajah Jungle Trek- yes, but don't go right before close. We wondered where the heck are all the animals?
Tricera tops spin- never done.
As far as the conservation station, decide if it is worth 2 hours out of your day. Wildlife train was ok (long wait to get on tho), then you get to the conservation station. Pocahontas, Jiminy Cricket, and Rafiki can be found there. Didn't do the petting area. I'd say don't do it unless you are spending 2 days at AK.

Epcot:
Maelstrom- fun, but not really a must do.
Ellen's Energy Adventure- nice place to cool off. Boring attraction, ride.
Honey I Shrunk the Audience- very outdated, and scary for young kids. Don't know if this will be back, hopefully if it is they will overhaul it.
Countries- we only seem to make it into a few. Mexico we like. Germany- train garden. We might try the kidcot stations next time. Lots of characters to see traveling thru the countries.

Hope this helps.

So glad you found your 06/07 trip pictures. Koby and Brady do look like babies. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to more.

Thanks! It does help out!

We got our parking pass & now it's time to park! I had no idea how far away we was from the parks! Gosh, that ride is the worst!!!! But we parked our vehicles here:
100_0769.jpg

(skipping over that god awful boring Richard Petty Driving Experience, for now) And wait for the tram to pass. The tram finally came. After a very very long ride we are finally there & I see this:
jonisdisney019.jpg

Well Ben, the boys & I run in, my MIL is still getting her bag checked. And Brady spots these characters. I still don't know who they are!
jonisdisney020.jpg

Brady was just now getting into the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse phase, and I think it had just started to play on Playhouse Disney not too long before we left. He loved Chip & Dale & waited for them to show up on the show. Who should we see next? Chip & Dale! Now this is something I will never forget. They walk out & Brady is holding my hand. I say, "Brady look who I see over there." I let go of his hand. He looks, spots Chip & Dale & bolts straight to them, wraps his little arms around their legs. That what when I was Disney addicted.
jonisdisney021.jpg

100_0772.jpg

jonisdisney022.jpg

Chip did kiss me, but no one got a pic of that! They were hilarious! We spent a good 5 minutes there with them. It was just us, it was as if there was this invisible veil & no one else could see us with them & that was our moment, our very first Disney moment. And all of this was before we fully walked in MK! Then....the sight that took my breath away & made me cry like a 2 year old who lost their favorite toy......................................

jonisdisney023.jpg

All I could think was, it's REAL! All the things I have ever seen on tv, it's real! It's BEAUTIFUL! The tv doesn't show this beauty! Total awe of everything. And then.....................
jonisdisney027.jpg

I could have stayed there for hours just staring. I looked at Ben, tears in my eyes & said in the smallest voice, "could I please live there? That's all I ask." He giggled & said, "Come on, we have to go meet Mickey!"

And I will leave off there today, since there are a billion and one pics, well not really, but I figured you all would like to see Mickey & Minnie's house all decorated for Christmas.
