Not Fair. Those without a code should not be allowed to book with one!

I'm sorry to vent, but by the time I decide to book my package using the code we personally recieved in the mail from Disney - all the rooms at those rates will be GONE!

I don't think it's fair for Disney to allow people to book with a code that wasn't meant for them.

........................

lucky, give me a break! Reading your signature you've been to WDW 7x since 1984. Of those 7 visits you've stayed onsite only 3 of those times. We have been to WDW 10 times in the last 5 years alone and have ALWAYS stayed onsite. So tell me how is it fair you received a code and we didn't? :confused3
I don't mean to come across as uppity, but I really don't understand how some get the codes and others like ourselves have NEVER received one. Some say the codes are distributed by region, but you are from New England and so are we, so there goes that theory.

Good luck in your attempt at reservations.

From what I've read as soon as you get your post card you should book as they fill up so fast anyway...Someone has already posted on this...their friend didn't get the resort they wanted because they waited too long to "talk it over." The rooms were gone for the dates they wanted. Had they booked it while on the phone with the cm there wouldn't be a problem.

I hope it works out for you :) Don't wait though. Disney resorts can fill up even without codes!

don't give up yet. A lot of people put things on a 14 day hold while they think about or talk to SO. Start trying back in 10-14 days, things may open up again

Good luck

You can't get any resort rooms for your date with your code, or are you just not able to get your particular resort?

My friend got a postcard last week, but waited until today to call. She wanted CR, but there were no rooms left at the postcard rate. She was offered WL, but decided to wait until this weekend to speak with her DH about it. I have a feeling WL will be gone by the time she calls back next Monday.

When I called, since I wasn't sure I put it on a hold (2 weeks )to make sure it would still be available when I called back.

When general codes come out you can hardly get through to Disney with everyone trying to get in because they do fill up fast. very often we see aaa, ap, florida resident people who can get discounts not being able to because it is already full for their discount type. Even if no one who didnt get a card had been allowed to book, it still could have been full by the time you called.

It's basic marketing. They're not going to give a code to someone who is going to stay on-site anyways. They're going to send it to someone who has gone in the past, but hasn't gone frequently. Being in marketing myself, it's most likely a "reactivation" strategy.

Given that, those who do not visit (and stay on-site) frequently are going to get the code. The code was in my mom's name at my address. She's only stayed onsite once.

:scratchin just curious...if a person is able to use a code that wasn't meant for them, well than how are they able to use it??

Sorry, but how do you know people without codes are booking up those rooms? The CMs I've talked to all said TONS of people have gotten the code. Disney wont let a person book a room at 40% off just because they ask - you had to get the postcard or email to receive the discount!

Here is what I posted on the other similar thread :

No flames from me, however you are making judgments (and paying a lot more $$) based on information you believe to be correct, but which may not be correct at all.

People, including TA's are making reservations giving a 3 letter code without ANY mention of a pin. In fact, last time I had a post card mailed to me, all that was required was the pin # - no code at all.

The WDW TA site is promoting Best Weeks at WDW. Some of these rates may have been put aside for post cards/emails and some may not - the only folks that REALLY know are the Disney marketing people (not even the CM's - which is a whole other discussion).

Until someone that booked a room using the code without a pin gets a call from WDW rescinding the offer, using words like “not fair” and “wrong” is simply not accurate

I would add in your case that you shouldn't be waiting to book if you are that interested in going to WDW. This promotion is like any other, that any store would offer; WHILE SUPPLIES LAST..

I hope you are able to get what you want!:)

came in your mom's name, then doesn't that mean you will not be able to use it unless she goes with you? You may be in the same position as everyone else who wasn't lucky (no pun intended) enough to get a code.
Not trying to be a wise guy, just curious, as I've gotten postcards under my maiden name at my mom's house in the past....

Pot ... calling ... kettle ... black.

:)

huh?? I am confused by your comment :)

I called Disney, and got a discount. I didn't even have to give them a code. Is that wrong? :confused3 I am assuming there was something attached to my name or the CM wouldn't have been able to give me the great rate she did...

Thanks for pointing that out, frannn. My mom will be joining us on the upcoming trip.

I'm not knocking anyone for using the three letter code at all. Believe me, I would try as well. My problem is those who are calling with nothing and the CM perhaps is giving them a rate that they are truely not eligible for. Again, I'm not complaining about Dissers....it's the CMs that I have a problem with.

It seems that as long as the address matches your address then Disney will accept the pin #. So, since OP says it came to her address with her mom's name, then I think she/he can use it. However, I was wondering the same thing. Technically, the pin is meant for the OP's mom, not her/him. So, I think the OP is technically in the same position as all the other people who are booking without a personal pin in their name. ***Edited to Add that I just saw your response that your mom is going along with you, so that covers that

"My problem is those who are calling with nothing and the CM perhaps is giving them a rate that they are truely not eligible for."

That has yet to be seen, though. Many of us have called and gotten this discounted rate. It is only speculation that it is or isn't a public discount.

But if they are not eligible for it, how can the CM pass the rate on :confused3
It must be valid, or the system wouldn't let them book it.

Good~Luck to all :)

I was just agreeing with you regarding OP's original blame game. Maybe I am just too tired from all the planning :)

just called again. Very nice CM, but she couldn't give me the discount rate because you have to have the pincode. That is 10 calls in 6 days now. In fact, she had me hold on a second, then came back and wanted to know who told me about the discount code because so many people are calling about it. I fudged, and said the phone rep yesterday...but that I hadn't been ready to decide without talking to my dh. Well, she asked me to try hard and remember the phone rep's name.

I think some phone reps are going to get in trouble.

I was ambiguous about whether this was a real discount for everyone, and the phone reps just weren't properly informed or what....but really, it is rather obvious that some phone reps are making a mistake by booking for people who are not eligible.

Anyone get brave enough to email Guest Relations, and ask if their non-pincode discount would be honored? WDW will know anyone who didn't receive the postcard or email and booked anyway got the code from SOMEWHERE...in fact they probably know darn well it is all over the DISboards, meaning they know we know it is potentially NOT for the general public.

ANd they do have the disclaimer in small print that they can cancel anyone's reservation at any time for any reason.
