I suppose this is as good a place as any to ask a completely unrelated to a cruise stupid question, so here goes, has any ione rented a car using a Visa debit card from your bank account? (flying to Tampa in 2 weeks to visit family) I don't own any credit cards, I know that I rented a car with Dollar in January using my debit card, but I seem to remember having to pre certify or something? HELP!

You don't say which company you are using, but I found this on the Dollar site:

Can I use my debit card?

Many DOLLAR car rental locations accept the use of a debit card for car rental or car return; however, please refer to the Local Policies, found within the reservation process for specific information regarding debit card use at the DOLLAR Location where you intend to rent the DOLLAR vehicle. A credit check will be performed on customers presenting a debit card as payment at the time of rental. Please see the General Procedures and Policies section for more information.
