Yesterday, our 9 yr old DS was in our local district Cub Scout pinewood derby race as a representative of his pack along with 2 other boys from the same. This was quite an accomplishment in itself because he had to race against 27 other cars from the pack to get here. And this was his first year as a scout!

So we told him the level of competition would be much stiffer because he would be facing 30 other very good cars at district. It was very stressful as the day wore on because he kept winning and advancing. Then he lost 2. Well we thoght ok this is it, hes hung in there for a long time but the best cars are gonna take over now. Then he began to win again!

After 23 races, Casey was declared the winner!! We were so excited for him. This is a great accomplishment for him. He has had physical limitations and learning disablilities all his life. So to do something like this means so much to him.

But where we were most proud of him was how he handled the win. Lots of people came up to give congrats and a pat on the back. All the while he was gracious and humble. And therein lies the winner in his mom and dads eyes.

You SHOULD be proud!! Give your little winner a big hug for me!

Caseys Dad (aka Jimmy), that is SUPER!!!!! :bounce: What a day, what a nice young man you are raising. I met him at WDW, didn't I, Jimmy? So very happy for him. Wish I was there to congratulate him in person, but will do so from a few miles away here....

Wow!! As the Mom of an Eagle Scout - I know just how competitive the Pinewood Derbies are - you should be very, very proud and excited!!:bounce:

CONGRATULATIONS, CASEY!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
And stick with Scouts - it just keeps getting better and better!!:D

It takes a very mature person to take winning graciously! :) Please pass on our congrats to him. :)

I used to love the pinewood derby when I was a young cub scout. I was never any good at it though! I'd always get eliminated in a first few rounds or so.

Congrats to you son, and here's hoping he continues in scouting and becomes an Eagle Scout!

:D

:bounce: Hooray for Casey! No bragging here, just a very proud Mom!:teeth:

Congratulations! All this talk of Pinewood Derbys brings back some great memories :D
