Not Another Universal Trip Report.. With ME! & My Friends

Another fun update! Oh no about the Latin Quarter... we're trying it for the first time this summer and hope it's good. We'll be sure to get there before 10:00  I'm glad you were able to get into The Kitchen. That's another one I want to try... so many restaurants, so little time! I loved all the pics :thumbsup2

The Kitchen rocks. The food there is so awesome. We ate there in April for the 1'st time and now we can't wait to go back!!:thumbsup2
The only downside is Emack&Bolios ice cream shop next to it.We were to full to enjoy some ice cream after we ate..

Great TR and its getting me so excited about our trip in 4 days and not to mention its only me and DW this year cause the kids are staying home with family :woohoo::woohoo::banana::banana:

Thanks for posting the pics of DC. We are going there in Sept & I was just going to get the dolphin swim for my DD's graduation present while DS & I got the non-dolphin pkg. Now I am reconsidering after reading your description, although the tight wetsuit might be a problem for DS as he is 6'3" & weighs arould 255.:scared1: Do they come in X-large?

We are spending 2 nights at HRH then going to WDW for 11 nights, I'm getting so excited & the only thing getting me through the wait is reading trip reports

Great report so far, keep it coming.popcorn::

Me sneaking up on an unsuspecting fan.

:lmao::lmao:

Keep it coming. I'm truly enjoying your trip reports and pictures

Seriously, so little time. I thought we'd have time to eat everywhere but it went by so fast. I don't even want to admit to how many attractions I missed. It's embarassing.

I'm more of an appetizer person than a dessert person so I usually never make it to it.. but I definitely have had Emack & Bolio's when I stayed at the Hard Rock. It's awesome.

 That's going to be me all the time! Daddy's going to go on "business" a lot when he's older. Can't wait for your trip report!

Thanks so much tink. Well they have wetsuits in all kinds of sizes. It just doesn't mean that they're flattering. But there's also the option of the vests too and the best part is that you can change as much as you want. I went from wetsuit to vest so your DS can try both on and see what he feels more comfortable in.

I remember reading in a recent thread that they go up to 18XL. Be able to fit something like 600 lbs. Not sure how comfortable it will be but they should have no problem actually having one that fits.

Thanks for the report nerdboyrockstar...Gives some excitement in my rather boring work days.

Love your TR so far, the pictures are fantastic. Espcially love the DC ones, they bring back so many memories i truely had one of the most amazing days there, such a wonderful place :cloud9:

WOW- another awesome instalment of a great trip. Love the pictures especially of the food.
Have never been to the Islands Breakfast, as like yourself not really into eating breakfast, we usually prefer something around 1pm, but after your report and pics, might consider a late breakfast.
Luis does not look to happy at the breakfast, was this the after effects of the night before LOL

Really enjoying your trip report. We leave in 4 days, so the excitement level here is pretty high. We'll have our two teenage sons with us, so we have decided to borrow your idea of doing Sea World at night. Our DS(19) is so just on board with the thought he won't have to get up early on Sea World day that he has agreed to any show I want to see.

Wow, a great TR. How did RPR compare to HRH?

No problem. Believe me.. I'm suffering from boring work days too. And getting over the withdrawals from coming back.

Thank you. DC was great and we all agree it's something we have to add to our trips from now on.

Well on the weekends, it ends at noon which isn't too bad. We got in like at 11:15-11:30 and they everything was still there and they were still bringing out fresh food even though they were about to close. It was great.

And.. we were just all tired. We all look pretty sleepy in those pics but we literally jumped out of bed and went downstairs.

Haha.. Believe me, it's the way to go. And since you're only 4 days out, you can go to the Sea World website and plan out the show times for the day you're going to visit already. Don't miss Sea Lions Tonight or Shamu Rocks. :) Also, if you're going later in the day and they're not directing parking, you can drive up and get a closer spot to the entrance from people that have already left.

Wow, a great TR. How did RPR compare to HRH?

RPR is probably my favorite.. which sucks because I can't take advantage of my Loews Platinum status as much there. They have no suites except the King Suite but we're always a bigger group than that.

HRH is great though. I think I'm ready to do HRH or PBH again just to switch things up a bit. We've done a lot of visits to RPR recently. But we can't help it! It's our home away from home.

Dw will not go unless we can stay at RPR
So I guess they spoiled her a little too much :rotfl::rotfl:

We got to sleep in yet another day. We weren't rolling up to the parks some days until 4pm. But today we got an earlier start as we planned to hit Islands again and Universal.

But we definitely took enough time this trip to enjoy the resort grounds.

At Islands, we hit up a few things we missed the day before (Dr. Doom's Fear Fall, Dueling Dragons) and also did some repeats.

Most importantly, we hit Mythos for lunch which we're always really looking forward to. It was of course, another awesome meal. Maria got the Pastabilities which was out of hand good, with alfredo sauce, mushrooms, spinach, sausage, chicken and mozzarella cheese. I had the risotto of the day which was great as usual. Luis had the pad thai with pork and Nisha the pizza of the day. I can't visit Orlando let alone Universal without getting a meal in at Mythos. It's probably my favorite restaurant anywhere.

Me thinking.. "I'll take 1 of each."

After our meal, we headed to Universal for some digestion rides. Haha. First up, Shrek 4-D. Then Twister.. And after that, we were ready for a few rides on the Mummy. I pretended to be choking Maria for the picture which got a few laughs. Pretending.

Disaster was literally being evacuated when we walked up so we missed that but then we did Jaws, Men in Black, The Simpsons, and E.T. I wanted to do Terminator but apparently the last show was at 6:00pm on an 8:00pm closing day and I missed it. Make sure to get a park map and check show times which I did not..

If you see these three as your fellow MIB trainees, please ask to be moved to the next car. You will never get Galaxy Defender.

Nisha and Luis' Favorite Attraction
Maria's Note: Yeah, I think they rode it 3-4 times
Quinisha's Note: He dragged me there. I only went for moral support.
Maria's Note: More like ORAL support.

We stayed close to park closing and headed back to the resort. For that night we made a reservation at Emeril's Tchoup Chop. I made the reservation early in the day by calling while we were walking to the parks. They kind-of asked a lot of questions like if it was our first time dining there (No..), if anyone in our party had any food allergies (No..), if we were dining there for a special occasion (Yes, Hunger..).

So once we got back to the room we only had a few minutes to relax before getting ready again. Luis didn't bring anything nice to wear but he was able to fit one of my button downs just enough so that he could leave it open. But honestly, the only dress code Emeril's has for men is no sleeveless shirts. Upon walking in, we saw plenty of men in polos and nice shorts.

Nisha picks the absolute most opportune moment to steal a chip.

Also, you'll be happy to know that upon checking out the menu, they've dropped the prices across the board. I guess they're trying to be recession-friendly but comparing it to an older menu, some items were like $5 less this time. That's GREAT news and I hope they can keep it up.

Our meal there was amazing of course and Tchoup Chop and the Kitchen are neck-and-neck for our favorite meals of the trip but Tchoup Chop might have won the edge with an amazing side of Emeril's Fried Rice. Some of the best fried rice we've ever had. And I had no trouble cleaning my plate. Just awesome.

This was our last dinner of the trip and it was a great one.

Another fun update! Some of the pictures cracked me up  We love Mythos too! It's probably our favorite restaurant down in Orlando, it's amazing. My mom and I are vegetairns though... do you remember if they had fish or anything vegetarian? We weren't vegetarians the last time we ate there and the only menu I was able to find online didn't have any options. Any info's appreciated! Also, about how expensive was Tchoup Chop? I'd LOVE to try it, but the menu I saw said everything was around $30 and that's insane for food  Again, I'd love any info you have. The restaurant looks gorgeous!!

I hope Nerdy doesn't mind me threadjacking, but last year at Mythos the only vegetarian option was the margarita flatbread, which wasn't worth the price (but I don't eat fish)

Thank you! I'm hoping maybe they'll be able to make something on the menu without meat. We'll see!
