Not able to do this on a budget!

:rotfl2:
That $1 is a backbreaker.

:lmao:

It's good to see the numbers -- the pricing is comparable and just shows me what a good deal Disney still is with all of the in-park entertainment (fireworks, parades, etc.)

Now, adding US onto a florida vacation -- there's no cheap way around it. I chose to think of it as 2 vacations combined into one: a disney and a US vacation. I was saving money because I only had to buy airfare once, right?! With Disney I bought the no expire 10 day -- that's how I chose to cut my per-day park fees when we are only doing 2 or 3 park days on a trip. For US we have gone from a 2 day pass to a 4 day because we enjoyed our 2 days so much, that we need more this trip. So, overall I'd say that US is worth the extra expense of buying 2 sets of park tickets (Disney and US) for one vacation. Hotels and transportation costs should remain mostly constant, but may go up a bit due to no Magical Express at US and having to taxi over there. I'm hoping this year we can cut expenses by shopping less! Since we already have a wand and an E. T. t-shirt and other trinkets, that should save us a lot of $$$. The shopping was a big hit on my wallet last time.

If going in September check travelzoo.com for hotels. you might come up with steal room for49.00 dollars a night for suite. I know I did for Labor Day weekend last year. I stay at the Residence Inn on US Blvd too. We is family of five to now and must have suite whenever we travel now.

OP others have explained that regardless of which park is your 'split' park tix are structured to keep u @one park. If you know you'll be returning within a year, price out APs for one (or both) parks and factor in a 2nd trip to cut overall tix costs.

Don't forget that the U onsite are truly deluxe resorts:thumbsup2 when evaluating the nightly price.

It is going to cost me right at $600 for 2 day 1 park tickets for 5 ppl through the Universal online advanced purchase price. It is something like $115 per person X 5 plus tax and shipping. That's not counting food and we are not staying on Universal property. We are booked to stay on Disney property but now am considering a vacation rental home to save $1,400.

A rental home would be an excellent idea and would save you a bunch of money.

thanks for all the suggestions. anyway I look at it, it is still going to cost me an extra $500 between, room, tix and food...guess ill just have to plan ANOTHER trip... just sayin.
