not a fan of fast pass plus

The best thing I heard. A guy asked FP cm why only 3 fps He used to get more. The cm said it was a new system and it works that way now. Guy said his ticket didn't cost less. Cm said well this is a complimentary service it doesn't cost anything. I was thinking all these magic bracelets in the mail don't cost anything. What are you volunteering to be here? Just paid for by pixie dust.

Simply unbelievable.

Well it is a holiday weekend so I have to wonder how it would have been even with legacy this weekend.

I'm holding out hope for my February trip.

MLK is a holiday weekend, but not THAT big a holiday weekend as compared to attendance at other times. Not sure what week in Feb. you are going but President's Day week should be a nightmare because a lot of schools close in the South and people go there. (We used to, largely because waiting in lines was more pleasant in winter than summmer.)

At the end of the year it will be interesting to see if attendance goes up at Universal and down at WDW. I am another one who has been going to WDW yearly for the past several years because I can stay off site. I was thinking about going back in the fall, but for the cost, I will take another cruise(non disney). I am not saying good bye to WDW, but I will not go as often if this is how FP+ is going to be.

Well, FP+ debacle notwithstanding, attendance WILL go up at Universal no matter what. The Harry Potter expansion in USF opens this summer. The Hogwart's Express will connect the existing IoA Hogsmeade area with the new London/Diagon Alley area in USF. So not only will Universal be selling a lot of tickets, they'll be selling a lot of 2-Park tickets.

They are doing major PR. There are already videos out, one with one of the actors that played the Weasley twins, a big HP weekend convention thing later this month, and a big "streaming" event on the 23rd, where folks suspect they will show more footage and perhaps even announce the opening date. No doubt so they can start filling those hotel rooms. :)

Disney's attendance may go up or may go down, but Universals will go up this year guaranteed.

Personally, I think that if Disney's attendance suffers, it will be NEXT year because THIS year everyone's going to go, hoping for the best, find out what it's like and not reschedule. That's what just happened to us.

Sounds like that CM was sitting in the same meeting as the CM that I talked to who told me that the only people who didn't like how the new FP system works are the people who don't know how the new FP system works.

Uh......okay.

The solution is more attractions. But that can't be fixed right away. I think they put the cart before the horse on this one. Because of limited ride capacity, there has never been a "way out" of this mess.

The Disney solution is going to be interactive standby lines.

Come summer time, the "interactive standby lines" are going to interactive by people fighting because they are hot and grumpy from standing in lines!

Hah! Forget fights in the line.... you will know that they have officially jumped the shark when they start hiring ball park barkers to sell peanuts, popcorn, hotdogs and beer to all the people stuck in lines. :)

The other bad thing for casual guests. The Mk guidemaps do not mention FP plus or show FP plus kiosks on the map. But they still show legacy FP attractions.

Its really bad show.

Wow. They didn't show FP+ information at New Year's, but that was before they closed down the FP machines (except AK's which had already been shuttered). I thought for sure they would replace the park maps before they changed the bigger parks over.

Does anyone at Disney think? I'm starting to wonder.

I wonder, who profited from this $1,000,000,000 boneheaded blunder?

The company that got the contract to manufacture the rubber bands, and the company that got the contract to manufacture the RFID chips.

You asked. :lmao:

Wow, this is unbelieveable. People having to wait in a line to buy tickets, then wait in ANOTHER line to get their fastpasses. Why don't they do away with one of these lines by just giving them a ticket booklet when they buy their ticket to get in.....it could be pre-tiered, maybe by having the minor rides labeled A and the headliners labeled E. Oh wait! Isn't that how they did it in 1973? Should we take a giant step back into.the past to solve this problem? Any ideas?

I said all of this, both here and to WDW after our Thanksgiving trip. We were offsite so didn't even have FP+ yet and it majorly affected our trip. When we did get legacy FPs we encountered the long lines just to get into the FP line---we waited 20 minutes outside of test track one morning (and another 20 minutes inside once we got past the first scanner---and this was when at least some of the FP returners still had paper FPs). And in the end---when your 3 FPs are gone you are left with the standby lines which are slower and more tortuous than ever because there IS a 20 minute wait outside the FP+ return that Disney is desperately trying to fix. We are one family who definitely is voting our opinion of this system with our dollars---I have zero desire to go back either onsite or off as long as this system is in place. Those who think it is great---really I am happy for you, I am more than willing to let you have my place in line. We haven't been to Universal and we love the Sea World parks, so our next trip to our Orlando timeshare will be spent exploring there.

They will complain by not coming.

Quoted for truth.

If one makes any study of customer service at all, you realize that the vast, vast majority of dissatisfied customers not only don't come back, but they tell their friends how unhappy they were with your business at a much higher rate than happy customers share. Per a White House of Consumer Affairs study, unhappy customers tell 9-15 people they know about their negative experience. A whopping 13% of unhappy customers tell 20 people they know. Even in-person word of mouth, that can spread quickly.

Thanks to the internet, and places like this, I'd guess those numbers can be underestimated in some circumstances. You'll know this is bad if it goes big on Twitter...

Lets start a #fp+sucks tag, hooo boy!

Which is great news for my family as it means the likelihood of free dining, another pin, or other discounts will be abound!! :woohoo:

I was just thinking the same thing earlier today. 2015 could be the Year of Magical Discounts.

The thing is, I get the feeling that thanks to the exchange rates, and the practice of selling the rooms much less expensively to overseas guests, international travelers will just fill the place up even if most of us in the US go less or stop going altogether. I'm honestly not sure who, if anyone, Disney considers their "bread and butter" client - who spends the most and thus pays the larger share of the bills.

Wow. I step away for a day and come back to this.

Those photos speak volumes.

I'm so sad for everyone who had a long awaited trip take place over the past few days. There's really no excuse. None.

All this does is drive more people to stay at Disney resorts. I know I wouldn't stay offsite and hope I can get on rides and hope there is fast passes when everyone staying at a Disney resort can book their fastpasses 60 days prior to their visit. I would spend the money to stay onsite to ensure my kids get on 3 rides a day especially during peek seasons, but most people cant afford the extra and are going to be disappointed with not being able to get on rides with out along wait. I already know 12 families that are no longer going as a result because they can only afford to stay offsite.

You will see offsite hotels close down over the next few years as a result

At least with the old system if I didn't use my fast passes I could give them off to someone else. Now if I don't use them they are wasted and besides I will be surprised if Disney down the road does charge you a fee when you don't use the pre booked fastpasses, like they do for missing dinner reservations.

I don't like having plan every aspect of my trip. I better schedule my bathroom breaks

We need to all complain and email Disney or contact them through their website.

This, is INSANE.

Seriously, who the heck is running the show down there ? People are paying thousands of dollars, for many of which what will be a once in a lifetime trip, and this is the crap service they are getting ?

Wow, I think the list of people who should be fired is growing by the day ...

You were the one holding it all together, your leaving did this, its your fault.

That's right, I said it.

UK visitors are down at WDW while they are up at Universal. I may or may not be known as a rocket scientist depending on who you ask, but I am pretty sure Universal will see another increase in UK visitors around June. Disney "may" see an increase...maybe it will offset us who say thanks, but no thanks.:confused3
