Not a 'Disney Kid' anymore

I searched but couldn't find anything, although I'm sure this has been asked before.

My daughter has crossed over from being a 'kid' in Disney as she turned 10. As I'm looking at our dining for our upcoming trip I know at any buffets/family styles we do I'll have to pay the adult fee for her, however, I'm wondering if she can order off the kids menu at table service restaurants?

My concern isn't so much over cost as it is over what she might eat, as items on the adult menu may not appeal to her.

If so I may have to tweak some of our reservations.

I don’t think OP is on the dining plan, as she mentioned paying the adult price for her daughter at buffet meals.

it's not a problem. at worst if someone has a bug up their butt they may insist on charging her a higher price for an adult portion of kid menu items OR not include drink and dessert if it is included, but I think that is pretty rare and I've never heard of it for kids who are disney adults, just real adults. I think Disney is pretty aware of the fact that a 10 year old is still a kid, they just make that the point at which you start paying adult prices, but they are not going to deny her a kid experience anywhere.

At counter service, yes. At table service there is no hard and fast rule that applies to all restaurants at WDW. In most cases probably yes, in other cases you may be able to order an adult portion of a child's menu item, in some cases it is possible it won't be allowed (especially third party restaurants).

My daughter is 12 and never has an issue ordering off the kids menu. We ate at BOG two weeks ago for dinner and they automatically handed her a kids menu in addition to the adult menu.

Just ask for a child's menu. You should be fine. It's always hard when they first transition menus. Another potential option is if there is an adult appetizer she likes. She could always have that for dinner

from what I have read it is mostly the third party restaurants that will not let older than 9 order from kids menu and as others have said look at apps and see if there is something there she would like in case not allowed to order fro kids

DD15 still won't eat off of the adult menus anywhere. We have never had a problem when she orders off of the kids menu. I've even ordered off the kids menu a few times and never had an issue. They've also never offered either of us an adult portion of a kids menu item (she would refuse, she barely finishes her kids meal).

My 14 year old has eaten off the children's menu with no problem.

The server may give you the option (or require, depending on where you are) of having a kids menu item at an adult size portion and price, but we never had an issue when he asked for a kids meal.

My DS just turned 10 in October and during our trip in December, he was offered the kids and adult menu at every a la carte restaurant we went to. He refused to order off the kids menu (yippee I say with sarcasm), but he could have if he had wanted to.

I'm 32 but had a child's portion of the chicken pot pie at 50s. It shouldn't be a problem (I even got the dessert)

I don't think she'll have a problem eating kid menu items. At buffets she'll be charged an adult price, but I know I've order the kids meals when they appeal to me more and I'm way older than 10 and have never had an issue. At table service they may charge the adult price, but at quick service I've never been charged more and got all the kid items like fruit and drink.

At 17 my daughter still orders from the kids menu at many places. Sigh she never got over that hot dog, chicken finger, macaroni and cheese phase.

My 12 year olds had no problems ordering off the kids menus at Sci Fi (the only non buffet TS we had). They’re light eaters and would never finish an adult meal.

Last August, my Disney Adult sons (almost 11 at the time and 12) were offered the option of ordering from the child’s menu at every non-buffet TS restaurant we visited. And my 12-year-old is tall for his age! They usually opted for the adult menu (they are fairly adventurous eaters), but ordered from the kid menu a few times...and it was really a great option to have!

My son, now 20, has never had an issue ordering "kids"meals. We have been going to WDW since he was an infant and he's a picky eater. He will always ask for a plain burger and fries, or steak or chicken and servers always try to accommodate. Of course, once he was over 9 we had to pay adult price at buffets, but we expect that and his brother, 6 years younger, has always ordered off the adult menu since he was like 6 yrs old, because he's the adventurous eater.. lol . Never worry, cast members always seem happy to please and are used to picky or lighter eaters of all ages.
