Good morning,

I’m looking for some advice on port adventures for our Disney Norwegian Fjords Cruise from Southampton in August 2025.

We’ve cruised mainly in the Bahamas and Caribbean, but with our kids getting older we thought it was time to branch out and do something less “beachy”.

  • Zeebrugge, Belgium
  • Haugesund, Norway
  • Nordfjorddeid, Norway
  • Stavanger, Norway
  • Kristiansand, Norway
Looking at the available excursions, I’m a bit overwhelmed and not quite what’s worth it and what’s not. We’ve had hit and miss experiences in the past and these are quite pricey.
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these destinations and would have Disney excursions to recommend.

Than you in advance.

My family did a Northern European cruise in September 2023. We did Disney excursions at 2 of the parts on your list, and would recommend both of them.

In Zeebrugge, we did the On Your Own bus excursion that drops off and picks up in Bruges. We could have saved money by taking non-Disney public transportation, but we liked the security of knowing we would get back to the ship in time (or have Disney take care of arrangements if we didn’t). We went to the Chocolate Museum and the Historium, which were an easy walk from the bus location.

In Stavenger, we did an excursion that stopped at Two Swords Monument, the Petroleum Museum and a history museum and then had a walking tour of old Stavenger. It appears the currently listed excursion closest to this is Stavenger Old and New, which replaces the history museum with a farm (which might be more interesting for kids) and drops the walking tour.

I did the 2022 Norwegian Fjords on The Magic

I did DIY in all ports.

I was on the same cruise as @Bad Pink Tink 2.0.

In Nordfjordeid I actually did pretty much the same thing - walk around the very small town, see the church, and then I did a RIB boat through the fjords. I’d not planned this in advance but there was an excursion place right when you get off the ship so I thought why not. Every single other person on the RIB boat with me was a CM. 😂

In Stavanger we did a cruise through the fjords to see pulpit rock, I felt this was a waste of money because you get the same views from the ship (minus pulpit rock.) Then went to the colourful street, Starbucks to get a mug, and then walked back to the ship via gamle Stavanger which is the oldest part of the city.

As long as you're all reasonably fit and mobile, the Pulpit Rock excursion in Stavanger is worth the 1 1/2 to 2 hour walk/hike each way for the fantastic views looking out over the fjord. The path is rocky in places and can get muddy but we saw people of all ages on the trail.

Does anyone have any advice for private tours in any of these ports? Right now, we are wondering if a driver is the best plan and just figure it out as we go along? does anyone have any experience with a farm tour we can do without the crowds?
