Norwegian Cruise Line dining room dress code enforcement.

Yes I read that thread, but I don't see a lot of angst over the new no flip flop/shorts rule. It's more about Elliott investment. I don't know enough about that Elliott investment to have an opinion on it.
I'm not sure you'll see yet enough outrage over the exact adjustment. However, you will or have a high chance of seeing changes in general. The concern is that the change is just one of many upcoming.

This was the article I read regarding Regent passengers: https://www.forbes.com/sites/rogerd...-cruise-line-regent-guests-should-be-worried/

As someone going on their fourth NCL cruise soon, I'm all for it, but I can tell you that NCL guests are generally up in arms right now. NCL differentiated itself years ago from other cruise lines by having any time dining and no dress codes. So it's not really in line with their brand.
3 NCL cruises here. Never encountered no dress code and certainly not what I consider their brand to be. Don't get me started on Freestyle dining .........what a CLUSTER that is.

What does everyone think of this? I'm actually for this but I'm old school and think if your going out to dine at a nice place you should be at least in a collared shirt long pants.

I'd be against this idea on the Disney Cruise Line because they don't have a dinner buffet option the way cruises with stricter dinner dress codes normally have for people that don't feel like dressing up.

That makes sense. Not surprising customers freak out over every change on any cruise line including Disney. The freakout over not wearing flip flops/shorts for premium dining seems a little extreme. The change in management may be a bigger issue, but I haven't cruised NCL yet so I'm in no position to have any opinion on wether this is good or bad.

The change is just for premium dining. No different than on Disney. You can still wear your shorts in the MDR....No judgement from me. I wear shorts in the MDR on Disney and on other cruise lines. Common sense tells me to put on some Capris or a casual dress when eating at a premium restaurant.

A cursory look on Reddit tells me the roll out has apparently been messy and that some crew members have been applying the new dress code to the MDR as well. So even if it isn't the rules on paper some people have been dealing with IRL. Which is the main reason I pointed out something like this only works on lines that have buffet options for dinner as an alternative, because it would be silly to turn away someone in shorts for the only open full dinner option on the ship.

Honestly, it's sort of annoying that it includes the Haven restaurant. I can understand DINNER in the Haven, but breakfast when the destination is Bermuda in the summer is just annoying. Not the end of the world, but just annoying to have to wear dress pant/jeans to breakfast.

Their information online says "dinner" for the dress code of the place you're talking about unless the below was the old dress code.

Common Sense is the magic word choice here. When on vacation, a lot of poeple decide that does not apply to them because they are on vacation and paid way too much money and can do what they want!

I say being back enforcement of DCL rules rather than changing the rules to what people ended up wearing while not following your previous rule.
