Norwegian Brown Cheese

This is my favourite cheese ever and I was very pleasantly surprised to see it served at Akershus yesterday.

My question is, do they sell it elsewhere in Norway (or WDW)? Would love to get some to take home!

That cheese is a favorite of ours as well.

I have not seen it in WDW for sale but have found it at a local market (and I don't live in a gourmet/buy whatever you need for that recipe kind of place.) The brand we've found is Ski Queen Gjetost Cheese. We don't have an Ikea in town, either, but I think I've seen it there.

Love, love, love gjetost! I was reared on the stuff. They eliminated the Akershus koldbord for a bit and I was so sad I might not get my chance to eat my fill of it. Ski Queen is the most common brand, I agree, but it isn't easy to find in my area. But it can be mail ordered. I look for it whenever I am in more cosmopolitan place.

Anyway, I don't think it is available anywhere else in the Norway pavilion (although the marketing photos show a waffle with gjetost, I have never seen it offered). And, they had the most wonderful gjetost cheesecake in the bakery - my favorite snack our entire trip last November - but I understand it is off the menu.

I know that cheese also! I just bought some at Wegman's in Massachusetts a couple weeks ago at thei gourmet cheese counter.

Yum! I essentially grew up on the stuff. You can find it in many grocery stores in the specialty cheeses section. Also, if you're every in mystic ct, they have a norway shop full of Norwegian yumminess.

In Southern California it's been available in a regular market year round as long as I've been around. (50+ years).
You could probably go to the company website & it will tell you where to get it in your area.
