Does the sweet almond pretzel have almond flavoring inside or is it just bread with the icing and almonds? I would love a description.

I believe the almond flavor was in the glaze, not in the pretzel itself.

They have two types of sweet pretzel, one with icing only and the other with icing and slivered almonds on it. I don't believe the icing or pretzel has an almond flavor, but I have not eaten, just the plain ones. I have eaten dozens of these over the years.

Thanks for asking OP, I have a thing for almond croissants where they have the marsipan in side them which is the almond flavoring and I was hoping they had it inside the pretzels also those would be my new fave! LOL

If that is something your looking for outside of WDW both Publix (called bear claw) and Atlanta Bread company (called almond croissant) have them and they are very good! I only get them once in awhile tho b/c my hips will pay the consequences for it! LOL

if you want the almond flavor "inside", go over to France/Boulangerie Patisserie and get the pithvier...super almond flavor through & through. And the almond pretzels have a strong almond flavor, I think it is in the glaze too, not just from the almonds.

Thanks for the responses. I love, love, LOVE almond flavoring. So, I will definitely try the pithvier. I had no idea that it was almond. Here's hoping that I will have an opportunity to try lots of new delicious treats!

This is from my January 2010 review:

..this is a wonderful item - almondtastic! It’s a combination kind of like flaky pastry on the outside edges, with a sort of a rich-cakey-cream-bread center, and a very strong almond flavor throughout. It’s also quite large. Being an almond fanatic, I really enjoyed this. Previously, I thought the sweet almond pretzels from Kringla/Norway were the be-all/end-all in outstanding almond pastries at Epcot. No more - Boulangerie's pithivier is my new favorite. Would give it a 10 for sure...

Pithiviers (extra 'i' sneaks in there!) are a fantastic classic french pastry. The filling you're referring to is frangipane, also called almond cream - and the reason that they are more expensive to make is because it's not just almond flavoring. Frangipane is a mixture of almond flour, butter, and sugar in a 1:1:1 ratio, with quite a few eggs, citrus zest, rum and vanilla thrown in.

So, who's hungry? :thumbsup2

I also very highly recommend the Pithiviers and Almond Croissants at the Patisserie in France. I love the strong almond flavor and their pastries are the best!

I was disappointed with the Norway sweet pretzel. Too dry. Lacking in yummy flavor.

I am so getting the almond croissant I had no idea they had them in france they are my absolute fave!!

Not sure about snack credit but I got it for dessert with my sandwich and soup last month. Talk about way too much food for a recent lap band patient, I had four bites of sandwich, half the soup and a bite of the pretzel...it was yummy! I lost weight on vaction and DH gained 8 pounds eating his food and all of my leftovers!:scared1:

Was still able to get the Norway Iced Almond pretzel as a SC in July. I think they are wonderful, enough Almonds on them for great flavor, and the bread is sweet. I did not find them too dray, in fact, usually get them one day for breakfast the next! (One or two often find their way into my luggage for snacking at home ;)
