Norway Cruise (+Iceland/Copenhagen/Dover) TIPS (consolidated)

Are there any other ports that I should be booking by now (sail date is 6/17/16)? We are going to do some DCL excursions but since we are only Silver, I'm worried we will be boxed out.

Our cruise 6/29/15 doesn't go to Newcastle or Bergen, so I can't comment on those. But for our itinerary, Kirkwall was the crucial one to book early. We are using Orkney Aspects as well there.

There are a lot more tour companies in Iceland, so you shouldn't have too much trouble booking there. But the way I looked at it, the sooner you get it locked down, the better. Just be prepared that a lot of companies require partial or even full payment at booking for private tours. I added the cost to our trip insurance policy for very little extra cost.

We went with Disney in Stavenger as we wanted to take the Lysefjord cruise and our time in port didn't work with the tours you could reserve online. Booking a privite boat tour was crazy expensive, so I'll give the mouse some $$$ at that port.

Yes these small places it's important to book early.

How many days I nees to see the most important landmarks in Copenhagen?

Linetbo - we only could spare one full day before the cruise departure but have booked a 2 hour Segway tour and also plan on doing a canal cruise and going to Tivoli. We'll see if there is time to fit anything else in but figure we'll be sort of jet lagged and don't want to do too much before boarding. There are a number of trip reports on Trip Advisor for Copenhagen that you may want to look at to get some ideas.

We only have one day in Copenhagen, and we are trying to cram a lot in. I used Trip Advisor, Rick Steves, and the DK Eyewitness Top 10 book to narrow down the top attractions to see. The next step is to plan how to get to all of them (which shouldn't be difficult, since the city seems to have a good public transport system) Several of the attractions in Copenhagen are close to one another. We hope to see the National Museum, Rosenborg Palace, Amalienborg palace, go on a free walking tour and go see Tivoli at night.

Of course, I have now booked another cruise for next summer that will begin in Copenhagen, so we will perhaps have another chance to see sights that we miss this go round...

I have been waiting for the one-year-mark to book our London hotel (Premier Inn) and when i went to do it, the following is what I found:

How is this possible? What gives? Should I call the hotel directly? Would appreciate any advice!

Which is the best location in which to stay in order to be close to the sights? Are any of the hotels listed above good choices? I have heard many positive comments about the Premier Inn hotel chain. Thanks!

Ok, thanks! I was worried I was competing against Wimbledon or some other big event.
No Wimbledon is at the end of June and that wouldn't effect central London but Wimbledon apartments. The budget hotels can take a while to get there's up. It's exactly a year some do it at 11 months.
Can you recommend a good tour or tour company to go see the castles in North Zealand area? Do you think we need to book this tour now for 2016? Thanks in advance!
I am doing mine at the end of July watch my blog see if mine is good. I booked it in January so plenty of time.

That hotel in Waterloo is a good area. There are so many good areas I need to know a bit about your travel plans the airport your coming into and if you stay in London and how you plan to get to the port.

I was looking at either Premier Inn County Hall or Premier Inn Waterloo? I am going to hire a private driver to get us from the airport and to Dover (as a single mom with kids, don't want to schlep luggage on public transport).

We stayed at County Hall May 31-June 2 and it was the most convenient of all the hotels we stayed in. Staying right by the Eye and across from Big Ben was awesome. We did an all-day Grayline tour and it picked us up at a hotel just a 5 minute walk away and the tour ended at the London Eye. The second day there we walked to the Waterloo Station and caught a train to Windsor Castle. Very nice stay!
