Norway College Program kids alerted to pavilion closing?

I know I'm probably in the minority, but I just can't see getting so upset over something that hasn't even been proven as fact yet. I know it's frustrating to not know WHY something is closing, but I can't be mad until I see with my own eyes that it's changing for the worst. (Not that I think it would be bad per se, but I like the Norway pavilion the way it is)

Probably for the same reason there were tons of people on these boards that were up in arms about Starbucks coming to the Main Street Bakery and how it it was going to commercialize Main Street USA. That was one of the funniest things I had ever read.

Also for all the people that were complaining on FP+ starting back last July, you were too late to the game. The easiest time for a company to change directions is when they haven't even made anything public. When these rumors circulate part of the reason might be an intentional leak to get feedback from the general public.

Now Disney is always going to follow the $ usually but at the same time plans can change and the plan of how much they implement an idea can be changed. For instance likely since they are already closing Norway supposedly its too late if it is going to become Frozen but if your going to pushback now is the time not after the plans are released.

The new direction could be great but if its disjointed where some countries are Disneyized and some are not it can make for an area with really no theme at all.

Very good reasoning.... :rolleyes2

With anything if enough time passes people will get over it. It doesn't mean it was the correct move to begin with. I wasn't around for the change to Mexico but in the end I would care more about the Norway pavilion as its not something a majority of kids will likely ever see and I happen to have heritage from there as well. I also think the world showcase should be updated but should stay agnostic from "Disney" and keep the routes of a more "realistic" viewpoint of the countries.

In the end I think if Norway does become a frozen area I really think Disney needs to move up or make plans for all other areas as well.

Canada (now northern America) - Brother Bear
China - Mulan
France - Beauty and the Beat / Ratatouille / Cinderella / Sleeping Beauty
Germany - Snow White /
Italy - Pinocchio
Japan (Now Oceania) - Nemo / Rescuers Down Under
Mexico (now South America) - Emperors New Groove / UP
Morocco (now Africa) - Lion King / Tarzan
Norway - Frozen
United Kingdom - Robin Hood / Alice in Wonderland / Peter Pan / 101 Dalmatians
United States - Toy Story / Incredibles / Cars / Stitch / Dumbo / Pocahontas

Could even add:
Greece with all the tasty Greek food with Hercules

Aren't many of those characters in those countries now? You couldn't change Japan to Oceania because that refers to the area around Australia not Japan.

If Disney can turn Norway into Arendel then they can pretty much do whatever they want to anything.

The difference being Arendel is loosely based on Norway; Japan is not based on Australia or the South Pacific.

I think it is funny how people can take an unconfirmed rumor, expand the rumor to include that all of Norway is turning into a big Frozen area and then bash Disney over something that hasn't even happened yet. People need to get a grip.

Who says you have to keep Japan? Frozen is not Norway...?

I am not talking about putting characters in those areas I am talking about redoing the areas in the direction of those movies.

I haven't read everything on this thread but I know I am not "bashing" Disney. I am just saying I would prefer to keep it inline with the World Showcase instead of a Disney Showcase.

I also think the reason its catching fire on the forums is that its been rumored since like March/April that something like this would happen.

Again I don't see why it matters if you are redoing the pavilions around movies with good food from that area of the world. You could bring in amazing seafood and sushi into an area based on Nemo.

If Disney redid everything around movies what if any movie has taken part in Japan? I know the new ballonman movie was based in Japan originally I believe?

The Epcot model of using Other People's Money is failing. The more difficult it becomes to find countries and corporations willing to foot the bill (or a portion of the bill) for the various pavilions, the more you'll see Disney's own properties incorporated into the park. That or more abandoned buildings.

That's the biggest reason I'm not thrilled about the Pandora additions planned for AK, since they seem to depend on a lot of cash from outside of Disney.

That's the difference to YOU. To me, if they can evict a legitimate country to install a completely imaginary one, then there is no reason to believe ANY country is safe from being purged.

This idea is amazingly crazy!

Show the kids cartoon, cute fish. Get them to learn about the animals and wildlife in the ocean, and how fun they are.

Then invite the children to eat them all! Sometimes without even cooking them first!

:rotfl:

I think it's funny how people come onto a Disney chatboard and think that people shouldn't be speculating about Disney.

I can understand adding Frozen aspects into the Maelstrom or even changing the whole ride AS LONG AS it doesn't become a dark ride, revolving around the story of Frozen... I would hate it, but I would COMPLETELY understand.

HOWEVER...if they change Norway to Arendel, it takes away all credibility to the World Showcase. The great thing about World Showcase is celebrating the diversity around the globe by learning about the different cultures, visiting the countries, having a taste of their food, learning about how they live, etc etc. If they changed Norway to Arendel...not only is that a big middle finger to Norway (completely taking them out of World Showcase and singling them out as the least important), but it destroys the whole concept behind IllumiNations, as well! How can the countries unite if we kicked one out?! Arendel is a fairytale land. It belongs in Fantasyland. End of story.

Its part of the world and something kids SHOULD learn. They SHOULD find out where their food comes from.

It is a little crude lol but I don't actually see this as a big thing. You learn this sort of thing a lot more personal when you live in the country on a farm or next door. You actually have animals you see grow up and then eat....

I'm all for learning where your food comes from and being responsible in teaching children to respect the circle of life. I just find your suggestion a bit odd, making the animals cute and fun through Finding Nemo, then juxtaposing that with seafood restaurants! haha! That seems almost the reverse of teaching them the truth, instead traumatising them!

It was one thing when Walt Disney ran a scrappy animation company that was barely profitable and made deals with other companies to fund Disneyland, but now that Disney is one of the largest conglomerates in the world, with no shortage of profits, it's probably a harder sell to get other companies to fund their ventures.

It's not only to me, Arendel was based loosely on Norway; that isn't made up.
